Hannah’s POV
I used to think the pits were deep within the secret forest, but as we passed my literal nightmare, I realized the pits were clearly just the beginning. The further in we go, the darker it seems to get. Along with the deep silence among our small group, I feel utterly alone.
I know how Luke is feeling though both of our parents were trying to protect us. There was a level of betrayal behind it as well. The fact they were discussing this among themselves only adds fuel to the fire, treating us even more like children.
Finding out about my mother still has me reeling, and I can hardly believe it’s real, but learning about Luke was just heartbreaking. Whatever mysteries in my past no longer seem as daunting compared to him.
