Luke's POV
"Hannah!" My yell stopped the oversized bear from taking a chunk out of my mate. It bares its eyes at me, almost as if to taunt me, telling me to watch as he kills her.
I match his taunt, growling as I shift into my wolf. I now know why I'm bigger than the other wolves, and I plan to take full advantage of that.
Using the pain and anger of what's happening to my home, my secret adoption, the deception the form alpha had over Hannah, and the very fact that this bear-like thing thought it could hurt my mate and live to tell about it launches me across the clearing.
I hear a foreign voice call out but can’t understand the words. They are garbled as I continue on my murderous intent.
Huge paws attempt to shove me back, but I latch on and coil myself around its arm, using my claws to keep me steady. It's so big. It's like I'm standing on a log, swaying in the water.
