Chapter 7 - Life is Good

POV—Adrian Windslay

I awakened my wind attribute genotype at the age of three, and at the age of ten, with lightning coursing through my veins, I became a possessor of the second lightning attribute genotype.

Many people, like myself, have more than two genotypes, but the quality is more vital than quantity.

My wife, Elva, has two charming horns that can use sonic waves to detect any movement in the surrounding environment. But even so, it is not her finest aspect. Her second genotype is one of the strongest genotypes I have come across. By absorbing the surrounding heat, she can freeze everything while converting that heat into energy. That energy transforms into her power.

Although I had hoped that our kids would inherit this genotype, I did not anticipate my daughter's awakening of her genotype at the tender age of three months.

While I was planning our first family vacation, an AI developed to watch over our kids issued an emergency alert to our cell phones.

I hurriedly circulated wind in the atmosphere to boost my speed, and with a dash, I rushed inside our kids' bedroom. Soon followed by my wife, Elva, trailing in my footsteps.

A stiff wind that can rip through anything envelopes my body as I approach the room; this wind is one I'm accustomed to because it's similar to the wind caused by my genotype.

But there was something else, a bone-chilling sensation that froze the surroundings. As I observed in detail, I saw water vapor in the air freezing and everything around my daughter coated with an icy film reflecting her laughing and jumping image.

"She is absorbing heat from the environment by freezing everything." My daughter has inherited the strongest genotype from my wife.

Because of the initial surprise of my daughter's awakening of two genotypes at the same time, I forgot to take action. Before I took any action, the robot responsible for looking after our children approached my daughter. Soon, with his help, the room came back to normal.

"Look, Elva, my daughter has already awakened two genotypes, one from me and one from you, both of which are our strongest genotypes," I exclaimed, an expression of pure delight on my face.

"Our* daughter," she reprimanded as she sprinted towards our son, saying, "look after our son, you idiot. He seemed to be really frightened."

"Olorun baby, are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere?" Elva asked questions as she gave Olorun a complete physical.

"No, mum, I'm okay," he responded, clinging to Elva for protection. From the looks of it, he seems to be really frightened.

His vocabulary and crystal-clear pronunciation yet again left me in awe of his intelligence. My two kids are absolute geniuses. My daughter has unrivaled potential, and my son is incredibly intelligent.

After verifying my son's safety, I embraced my daughter, but she immediately leaped out of it and began jumping on the bed like a restless kangaroo.

"Freya, hold your ground." As I observed her lovely, joyful, and vivacious posture, I remarked, "You should be more elegant, like a woman".

"Daddy, Daddy, Magic, Magic." Her upbeat speech reverberated across the room.

It's futile to talk to her, and we should urge our robots to refrain from telling our kids any magic or action stories. I think she is being influenced by it. If this goes on, then it will not be long before she wrecks our house.

"Should we separate Olorun and Freya, considering Freya may injure Olorun while we are not around, and AI may fail to intervene and save him?" Elva inquired, her voice anxious, as she comforted Olorun by patting his head.

"That is unnecessary. I'll appoint my personal AI to take care of them. No one will even sustain a scratch while under his surveillance," I comforted her.

"Also, will Freya be okay? She is just over three months old." Elva asked again with the same worried tone as she glanced towards Freya's giggling face.

"Don't worry about anything. On our watch, nothing will happen to them," I assured her as I hugged all of my family together.

Although with artificial evolution, humanity has awakened various genotypes, each of the genotypes comes with side effects. Like my lightning genotype, when I produce lightning, my body feels like it has been burned because of electricity, and hence I avoid using it. The wind became my major genotype, and lightning got ignored with time.

My daughter inherited the wind-related genotype from me, so as long as she does not overdo it, she will be fine.

"Elva, our kids are gems. Should we enroll them in preschool before age? With their intelligence and potential, they'll surely get admitted." I asked my wife for her opinion.

Although I wanted them to experience the world as soon as possible, but I knew my protective wife would oppose my decision. And I was right. She replied in an authoritative tone, "They are only just over three months old. I'll not allow them to go anywhere unless they learn to be self-sufficient."

Sigh, too much protectiveness, "What if I assign a private tutor?" I asked with an expectant gaze.

"Do you know anyone more capable than me?" Elva rebuked, her displeasure evident on her face.

"Cough! cough!" I coughed by hiding my gaze and continued, "No, but I surely know many who are stricter than you."

"Hmph! What happened to the family trip you were planning?" Elva inquired, shifting the conversation.

"Yes, we will go next week to your favorite place," I assured her with certainty, though I knew in my heart how uncertain I was.

"Are you looking forward to the trip, my babies?" Elva questioned our kids.

Olorun simply nodded while smiling slightly, but Freya began jumping on the bed once again as her loud cry of "trip trip trip" echoed in our ears.

POV—Olorun Windslay

My father entered the room as the little devil was on the loose. He saw the little devil from his position, standing at the door, his mouth open and his visage displaying an obvious look of utter delight.

"Just stop this little devil, do something, anything, I'm freezing here," I whispered internally. But my father was like a frozen statue, with his mouth getting wider by the second. The robot moved, and somehow they restored the room back to normal.

My mom rushed toward me and questioned me as she examined my body. No, mom, do not touch me here and there. I'm perfectly fine.

At least my mom cares for me, or I might die one day at the hands of this little devil.

The little devil has awakened two genotypes. I have to awaken mine as soon as possible.

My mother asked my father to separate our rooms in a gentle but worried tone that I overheard. What are you talking about, mom? I don't ever want to feel so lonely again. Even if I could get injured, I still want to be with my little devil.

Oh, thank god or should I say thanks dad to refused to separate us.

Life is good...

I shivered as I heard dad's voice again, "Should we enroll kids in preschool before age?" What are you talking about, dad? Professors are all bastards. They could kill me once again in order to get their hands on my unique DNA.

Oh, thank God, or should I say thanks mom, too, refused to send me to preschool.

Life is really good...

Oh, we are going on a trip.

In my previous life, I came from a poor family and never went on a family vacation or had any friends, so I never saw the world firsthand.

But this time I'm going with my family and in the future nonetheless...

Life is really, really good...
