Chapter 8 - Big Blacky

My dad said, "We will go next week on a trip," and I really believed him. Well, from now on, I will always reconsider twice before believing him.

It's been nearly two months since that day. My mother, finally, after beating dad, forced him to take us on a trip.

And today, after five months of being reborn in this world, I'm leaving my enormous home to observe the future Earth, and the influence of evolution brought upon by my research on these lands.

My mom is packing a few things, and my dad is unwilling but obediently helping my mom with everything. And my sister, I glanced towards her sleeping posture, "Well this is bad, this little devil is sleeping. She will go into berserk mode once she wakes up."

And after packing, we followed mom and dad out of our house. As I stroll outdoors, I take in the entire panorama of our house. "No wonder, it is enormous."

I took a quick glance at our front yard, covered with perfect luminous green grass and with plants and flowers that I had never seen. And every part of the front yard was covered with robots attending to the garden and maintaining security.

"My parents are so wealthy, oh my. Or are all individuals in the modern era as affluent as my parents?"

No security guards, only robots... Well, that much I expected, considering from my observation robots are capable of doing anything.

As my father steps forward with a clinging sound, the ground starts to quake, and our front yard starts to shift its shape. With a crackling sound, the ground splits into two and is followed by the emergence of a subterranean platform with a compact aircraft dwelling on it.

No freaking way!

Do we have our own personal aircraft?

How freaking cool is that...

Do all people nowadays have personal aircraft?

In my former life, I never had the opportunity to fly, but in this life, we have our own personal aircraft... as I already said, Life is Good.

"Hubby, do we really intend to fly by airplane?" Elva questioned, looking at Adrian, a hint of disappointment eminent in her tone.

Mom, please don't say that. For you, maybe it's just an airplane ride, but for your child, it's an opportunity of two lifetimes.

"So, are you wanting to bring him along?" Adrian inquired as if he could read Elva's thoughts.

"Yes please, any problems with that?" Elva asked, a sense of excitement easing from her voice.

With a worried look, Adrian replied, "The only problems are our kids. What if they get scared and start crying?"

Mom extended her hands, patting my and my sister's heads as she replied, "They are my kids. They'll not get scared as long as I'm with them."

"Okay then, if you say so." After my father's given an affirmation to my mother's request and using his wind genotype, he made a whistling sound that reverberated across the sky.

The pleasant sound of a whistle echoed in the sky, soon followed by an ear-piercing cry. A silhouette darted from our backyard, catching me off-guard. Wings the size of a house obscured the sky, hiding the entire sun, giving the impression as if the sun was becoming shy.

With a beating heart, a sense of fear covers my soul, but somehow I endured it all thanks to my mom holding my hands.

With a roaring sound followed by a thud, a fierce bird landed in front of us. His black body was two stories tall, his curved and sharp beak the size of an adult man, his fierce eyes black with a hint of yellow, staring right at us with sharp brilliance.

"Birdy Birdy, Big Birdy" A voice full of humor and joy from my sister Freya helps me slightly to wash over my fear. I'm terrified of this creature that could eat me whole.

Sis, what are you thinking? He is not a bird... perhaps be a dragon? No, he doesn't appear to be one. Like hell, I have never seen a dragon. All I know is that he's a monster.

"Dear Olorun and Freya, say hello to another family member. You can simply call him 'Blacky'." My dad said. His tone was quite certain.

Family member? Am I hearing things? This monster? Dad, are you somehow mistaken about something?

"Blacky bird, Big Blacky," Freya said, with a leap and a twinkle emanating from her eyes.

My sister looks as energetic as always. Hey sis, do you not feel fear? Do you not have the slightest bit of survival instinct?

" Come, dear Olorun, say hello to Blacky." Sensing my fear, my mom tightened the grip on my hands and took a single step forward.

Her warm hand passed down the courage I needed and, taking a deep breath, I took a step forward and, with a slight bow, I whispered, "He—Hello Mr. Blacky."

Oh, fuck! I was so scared of him that I unconsciously called him Mr.

Hearing my magnanimous greeting, he spread his long wings, bending his head down toward me, and opened his beak, followed by the crystal-clear, high-pitched sound of a single comprehensive word—"Hello."

Holly Shit! He is capable of human speech?

"Blacky, they are my kids. I hope you'll look after them well in the future," my mom said as she introduced us to blacky.

"Come on, let's go," Dad said as he strived forward with each step, using Blacky's wing, slowly climbing on his back.

With mom pulling my hands, I reluctantly climbed on Blacky's back, in contrast to my sister, who climbed it with her kangaroo hops and singing loud songs.

Unexpectedly, Blacky's fur was silkier than he appeared to be, and his back was equipped with leather seats with thick protective belts for security.

As I sat on a seat with fear and my heart bursting out of my chest, I made sure again and again that my seatbelt was properly locked.

As the sound of the whistle echoed once again, with a swish, Blacky takes off.

Wind strong enough to form a small tornado covers our surroundings. All the grass is knocked down flat, trees bend and some tear apart. Followed by the feeling of extreme weight, I had no other option but to close my eyes and hold on to the seatbelt.
