Thank you mother nature for the gift of trees. They are without a doubt the only reason we haven't been eaten yet. Also gotta say surprised Rex is keeping up with me as we sprint back towards our base, I haven't even turned my head to look at what's chasing us, in fear that split second look will lead to my death.
It took Rex and I about forty-five minutes to reach the goblin cave from our cave and I can safely say we're probably five minutes from reaching the tree line then a home run sprint from our cave. Really hoping the creature behind us won't fit in there. It hasn't shown any crazy abilities except for the power behind its body.
Just as we push towards the treeline I can't help but curse our luck. Standing just out of the treeline is the giant brown spider… and it looks hungry this time. Rex also sees the spider and curses his own action. We keep sprinting though even if we know we'll likely die running. We broke through the treeline but instantly turned towards our cave and just guns for the entrance as fast as we could… Something is not right here, there isn't any shaking? We reach the cave but turn around to see what's going on, the creature that I can now see is a giant black bear frozen in…fear? That shocks me, just as that thought crosses my mind I barely see one of the legs of the spider grow sharp? Then in one motion the head is cleaned off the bear. Holy crap, The spider continues to wrap the corpse of the bear up in its silk only to lift it and place it upon its back. I swore I saw one of the spider's eyes look towards our location, but just as that happened it turned and began moving back into the forest.
"...I'm good without going near that forest again if you are?" Rex says while looking like he would rather be dead at this moment. Guess he saw the spider looking towards us as well.
"Sounds good with me, I like living" is really the only response I can give to that.
It was heading towards evening when we got finished with coming to terms with that craziness. Rex occasionally looks towards the forest and shakes a bit. Understandable we generally survived because of luck, by all means we should be dead right now.
Before night settles in, Rex dug a hole in the front of the cave leading towards the ocean to try and decrease the chance of us getting flooded. We fixed up the door and wall at the entrance. Rex and I created some chairs so we wouldn't have to sit on the floor when we made food.
That night passed without threat, but neither of us could rest easy after that situation. This is our life now, survival means everything
