Walking endlessly on their up the mountain towards a future unknown they came to a cliff. A rocky canyon separated them from moving forward. The canyon was laced in crystals as far as the eye could see. Each one giving off a different color. At the canyon's bottom a stream a water, clear and clean, flowed through. Wrapping completely all the way around the mountain the canyon gave no way to cross besides flight or scaling their own way downward and finding a way across.
"If this is the phoenix territory you mentioned.. where is-?" Chi almost sounded disappointed until Tyson's finger tapped at his shoulder. Fae on the other side of Chi looked as well as Tyson pointed for them to look up.
Up high in the sky above dozens of large birds could be seen. Soaring high with their wings spread wide. Their feathers were long and deep blue fading into white just as it reached their tips at the end. As they moved about the air a gentle blue flame could be seen floating outward from their feathers. Shrieking out a calm cry one of them lowered itself down to their level. Hovering in the air in front of them as its emerald green eyes glared at them.
"Why-Why did it come closer?" Fae suddenly felt nervous having something with flames so close to him. Retreating back a few steps he could hear Tyson trying not to laugh under his mask at the nervous vampire. Chi on the other hand stood calm and still in front of the giant bird.
"Just as a blue star burns hotter then a red star, the phoenix in Numen's Garden burn at the hottest temperature they can causing their flame to become blue. Its the most oxygen-rich type of flame." Tyson explained to the dazed Chi who was studying the blue phoenix from where he stood.
Shrieking out once again the phoenix flipped itself around. Taking to the sky once more. The way its feathers glided about the air gave off a natural elegance.
"Lets go." Tyson said as he got closer to the ledge of the cliff. Looking down at the waterway below he had an idea on how they could make it across. The only troublesome part would be getting down safely.
"Go?"Chi quickly asked.
"Go where? We're standing at a cliff." Fae and Chi were both confused by his words as they watched him.
"Naturally. We're crossing the waterway." Tyson stated as he got down and turned onto his stomach. Slowly dropping himself over the ledge of the cliff.
Panicked, both Chi and Fae rushed over to glance over the side of the cliff. Down below they could see Tyson had landed on a lower ledge. He was gazing up at them while motioning for Fae to help Chi drop down. Both of their faces paled at the motion.
"Hurry up!" Tyson shouted up at them. He did not want to waste a lot of time waiting around for them to keep up. Knowing how to get across when they got to the bottom he had to get Chi lower first.
Before Fae had a chance to grab on to Chi to aid him the usher hopped onto the ground. Shifting into its horse sized form. It grabbed hold of Chi's clothing from behind and tossed him onto its back. Jumping down onto the ledge beside Tyson it began scaling its own way downward with Chi riding on its shoulders. Tyson did not utter a word as he turned and began to scale his own way down from one ledge to another after it. Completely leaving Fae in the back to follow behind them he began his own decent while grumbling under his breath at the both of them.
The climb down was a long one as they scaled from one ledge to another. Chi did not mind it though because he simply had to hold on to the fur of the usher. He knew the usher was nervous as it climbed by the way it shook while cautiously making each jump. Crystals were all around the sides of the canyon. Some of them made their jumps more difficult but they some how managed each and every leap.
Shrieks from the phoenix could be heard the further down they went. Some of the phoenix had landed and made nests in the side of the canyon. It was obvious by their cries that the motion of the three of them climbing down were making the phoenix paranoid. Standing guard in their nests they released bright flames to ward off the three of them from coming near.
"Be careful. They are very territorial." Tyson shouted forward at Chi since he had gone ahead of him with the usher.
"Easy there.." Chi tried to calm the nervous fox down by rubbing his hand through its silk fur. From the way the usher began to perk up he felt his action had helped a bit. The beast lifted its tail higher as it jumped and had more spirit in its leaps.
A loud chirping noise could be heard from the usher as its ears stood up straight. Leaping down to the next ledge it almost lost its footing but quickly steadied itself. Its blue eyes looking back at Tyson as if to tell him it was not its fault for slipping. Tyson could only shake his head at the usher's action.
"That thing feels like it takes after Loe in some ways.." Tyson said to himself with an exhausted sigh. He did not like the thought of the usher getting too excited when Chi was with it.
After a while the usher began to feel exhausted and sat down. Chi slipping off onto his feet as he patted the beast on the back. Shifting back to its smaller form it crawled over to Chi so that he would lift it back up. Curling safely up on top of Chi's head it watched as Tyson caught up with them.
"I told you to be careful." Tyson said to the little fox as it glared at him.
Waiting for Fae to catch up the two of them took a moment to relax. Once he was caught up they began their decent once more. This time the fox was too tired to use its large form so Fae had to aid Chi on the climb downward. The usher had helped in most of the distance but it could only use its larger form for a limited time. It took a lot of energy from the little creature.
