At the bottom of the canyon Tyson decided to let them rest for a while. The air and water at the bottom was cold. Knowing that Chi was not adapt to drastic changes in the weather happening he found random things the phoenix had dropped in order to start a small fire to help the man keep himself stable. Fae did not require the heat to stay warm so he kept his distance while resting on a large boulder.
While the two of them were doing their own things Chi was sitting by the fire flipping through the pages in Tyson's textbook he had taken from his room in Loe's mansion. Reading page after page while the little usher slept away on his lap. A good number of things in the book were not able to be understood by Chi but the things that were he'd loose himself in as he read. Whether it was details about the dimension or the different people he'd taken notes over everything had his attention. He wanted to understand everything he could.
Scrolling through the textbook he eventually saw something he had not expected to see. Slamming the book shut quickly he put it back in his jacket. Getting to his feet he walked off towards the waterway where Tyson was filling his canteens. He could see him kneeling over and debated on how to bring up the question he wanted to know.
Tyson could sense Chi standing behind him and turned his head slightly to the side. With the man staring at his mask so intently it made him wonder what had happened.
"What's gotten into you?" Tyson asked while screwing the cap back on the canteen that was in his hand. From the way the man looked it was obvious something was bothering him.
"Can I ask you something?" Chi was not sure how to bring up the question so he tried to keep it as simple as he could.
"You're going to anyways so why are you bothering to get permission." Tyson replied while allowing himself to sit down on the rocky ground below. He knew that even if Chi hadn't asked he was the type to ask a question anyways. There was no reason for him to ask permission.
"Your.. No.. I wont pry." Chi shook his head as he rid himself of the courage to ask the question he really wanted to. He did not want to seem rude to Tyson for asking things he had no business in.
"Little rabbit, if you have something on your mind it's not like you to be quiet about it. Now I'm going to feel worried about you." He said to Chi.
Sitting down beside Tyson he pulled his knees in close to himself. He could see the man already shivering from the cold. Reaching his arm over he pulled him in close. His arm wrapped around Chi's shoulder.
"You should have stayed with your fire." Tyson muttered quietly from under the mask.
"I just.. wanted to ask where you got the mask." Chi spoke so quiet that Tyson had to struggle to hear him. The question though was enough to make Tyson's body tense up.
"I had someone make it for me." He said simply. Tyson did not feel like talking about where the mask came from. The mask was the only thing that allowed him to feel normal when he got sent back home to his world. By wearing the mask he was able to force himself to write off everything he'd done in Numen's Garden as a nightmare when he removed it in his home world.
"Why? Why would you have HIM make you that?" Chi's question almost sounded like he was insinuating something about it. It was impossible for Tyson to tell what had gotten into Chi.
"Because I wanted it.. What's gotten into you?" Tyson asked him as he let go of Chi and turned to face him where they sat.
"I don't see how you can wear that!" Chi shouted as he tried to reach out and grab the mask from Tyson's face. Just looking at the thing was making him feel infuriated. He could not understand his own feelings that well but everything about seeing it made him want to throw the mask into the waterway. Wanting desperately to see the thing washed away down stream and out of sight.
"Little rabbit, what's your problem?!" Tyson shouted his question back at him as he struggled to hold the man back.
Struggling desperately to take the mask from Tyson, Chi ended up toppling the man over onto his back. His own body straddling above Tyson as he pulled the mask right off his face. Tyson struggled to hold on to the mask and Chi at the same time. Leaning up slightly as he fought to hold on to it. Their faces mere inches from each other before they realized how awkward their situation felt.
The moment that Chi realized how close he was to Tyson's face he could already see clean into his golden eyes. They almost felt hypnotizing as his black and red bangs fell slightly across his face in front of one of them. Feeling the warmth of Tyson's body heat below him his face flushed deep red. Rushing to his feet he quickly made his way silently away from Tyson until he was completely out of sight.
Ba-dump! Ba-dump! Ba-dump!
Chi's heart pounded fiercely against his chest as he backed himself up against a large rock out of view. Clenching his hand tight against his chest. It was a feeling that Chi had never felt before, almost foreign.
What did I just do?! He thought to himself as he stood there trying to understand what was going on with himself.
"Numen.. Why would Tyson wear a mask that Numen made for him?" Chi asked himself quietly as he recalled the whole reason he had wanted to talk to Tyson.
"You read it, didn't you, my little rabbit?" Tyson asked him as he walked around the corner. He had been worried about Chi and followed him back.
"Y..Yes.." Chi stuttered slightly as he gave an honest answer. He did not need to tell Tyson that he had the book because Tyson already knew Chi had been flipping pages in it before when he caught him in that room.
"I asked him to make it a long time ago. Does it really bother you that much?" Tyson asked while pinning Chi slowly up against the boulder. Mask in his hand as he held it in front of Chi's face.
"Yes!" Chi said as he grabbed it out of his hand before Tyson could even react and threw it into the waterway.
Tyson's face paled slightly as he watched his demonic mask being washed away by the current before his own eyes because of Chi. Chi did not know how to react after his own outburst as he stood there silently, still pinned with his back against the boulder with Tyson in front of him.
