"I don't even know how to use this thing!" Chi exclaimed as his hands shook. Silver blade in his hands he tried to keep up with Fae and Tyson as they kept walking. Neither of them were willing to argue over the matter because they were both aware of how dangerous things were around them right now. Fae did not need to know the truth of where they were going to agree with Tyson that Chi needed something to protect himself.
"We don't have time to make a debate over this.. Chi, even if you don't know how to use it at the least it'll help you if someone comes after you without us around to help you." Fae said as he smiled in hopes that it would help calm the man down. As much as he disliked Tyson he could not complain when it was something that would help keep Chi safe.
"I'm serious! What am I suppose to do with this thing?" Chi asked loudly because he had no idea how to handle a blade and he knew they were not something you just carry around without the intention to use it. If he had to depend on his own knowledge to use the blade he felt like he might die before he even got it ready.
"I'll teach you.." Tyson held in his urge to sigh. He had already intended to teach the man how to use it but he wasn't going to tell him til they got to their next destination. In order to quiet them both down he could only go ahead and tell Chi so he would not worry so much over it.
"Can we really afford the time for swordsmanship lessons right now?" Fae's face had darkened at the thought of Tyson teaching Chi personally.
"Yes, we can." Tyson simply responded. He could feel the hostility from the jealous vampire but none of that felt important to him. They were getting close to the place he wanted to stop and have them rest.
Nearing the end of the pathway the trees began to give away as the trail they were following opened up. A few miles up ahead they could see a large village that was giving off lights that were hued in green, blue, and even purple. Sounds of chattering and animals could be heard from the distance. It was like whispers in the wind from the large village that was built inside of what looked like a massive crater. If a meteor had ever struck the dimension they were in it surely had hit where the village was built before the village was there.
"We will be spending a few days or.. however long we need to there." Tyson said bluntly to them both as he gazed into the distance at the large village. The place in front of him was a place he had stumbled across during his very first time in the garden and had quickly over the years come to understand it quite well. It was another place that Numen had added in to the place but it was not as simple as the abandoned house or tunnels that Chi and Fae had seen so far. Cautious was something they had to be while in the village when they reached it.
"Why does it feel.. strange?" Fae could sense something off about the place from the distance they were at. He could clearly feel life there but at the same time it felt heavy like death.
"It's the Village of Lost Souls." Saying it's name out loud was enough for Tyson to feel like it was just yesterday that he had been there for the first time. Though he had seen the village many times over the years it was still a place that few could stumble across because its location alone was hard to reach. It was build on the mountain at a higher range then where the survivors started off at so a person had to survive long enough to even find it. After finding the place if you weren't careful the village would become the last place you stopped. A person did not need to come across another survivor to die in the Village of Lost Souls.
"I'm assuming by the name I'd rather sleep outside.." Chi mumbled under his breath.
"I have no idea how long Numen's been bringing people to the garden, but every year countless die.. Their souls have to go somewhere.. Even in death a person's soul cant leave this place. He uses their souls to power this place.. Village of Lost Souls is one of the places those tortured souls go that he let remain on the terrain in peace because he considered them useless to him or they give him at least a bit of entertainment like they are a prop on stage." Tyson explained as clearly as he could.
"Even if it's a place that's hard to reach why would you assume we could stay here that long for you to teach him how to use the sword?" Fae asked further. A village made up entirely of the souls of those who'd died among Numen's Garden sounded fancy in theory but that did not mean other survivors would not find the place as well and still try to kill them. He was not sure why Tyson was so set on they would be safe there.
"Because nobody can get past Loe." Tyson laughed slightly at the question. No matter how many times he had come here over the years he had never seen anyone that could get past the one who ran the village, Loe.
Beginning to walk again in the direction of the village no time was given for debate over the idea of heading there. Fae's heavy sigh could be heard as the vampire still doubted how safe the village could really be from the other survivors. Behind Fae was Chi who rushed forward more so that his figure was hid halfway behind Tyson so that Fae was moved to the back. His action was enough to make the vampire's face darken once again as the sight.
The closer they got the more the sounds picked up until it was no longer whispering voices. Sounds of life could be heard everywhere. Though everyone in the village was dead and nothing more then a wandering soul from their actions it was like they had walked into a normal village. If you could get past the fact that they were all able to be seen through like glass. Lights reflecting on the ghosts figures gave off a beautiful sight as everything in the village was cast in the green, blue, and purple lights. The way the reflections of the lights were cast as the villagers moved about seemed to make the lights dance upon the walls of everything in the village. Deceased that were too weak or simply too scared to show themselves floated about the air like little white orbs almost giving it the effect of snow in the winter that glowed.
Glancing to the side through his mask Tyson could see a faint smile pulling at the corner of Chi's face slightly as they entered the village. As many horrors as the man had been through so far the sight of the village was a rare sight of beauty that could still manage to pull at Chi's heart enough to bring the first real smile forth Tyson had seen since he met the man.
