Tyson sat down slowly in the booth of the local village bar. Chi and Fae sat across from him on the other side of the table. Neither of them were sure what they were doing there. Chiming from the door could be heard as a man wearing a black suit walked inside. The little usher rushing along with him at his feet.
"So you still remember where the village is. After the past few years I thought you'd forgotten about us." Loe said as he came over to the table and sat down beside Tyson. A smile was on his face but the look in his eyes was dead and emotionless. Whether or not he really meant any bit of his smile was unable to be figured out by Fae and Chi as they stared at him confused at who the man was.
Trying to decide whether or not the man was a threat to them Fae's fangs began to slip from his upper jaw. The second they were bared though Loe's eyes were narrowed on him.
"A lively one this one, huh? How about a glass of wine?" Loe asked Fae.
His body turning into nothing more then a cloud of black mist wafted across the room until he was behind the bar counter. Searching through his many drinks he found the one he enjoyed most of all and pulled it to himself. Popping open the cork and grabbing a glass he began to pour himself a drink. Hearing the sounds of Tyson walking to him from behind he let out a faint sigh.
"You've slacked off a bit yourself. I could hear you, young one." Loe scolded him.
"I have no reason to use tricks on you." Tyson stated simply as he had already come to consider the man as something like a father figure to himself over the years. He had never given him a reason to put up his guard against him since the day they met and he was not interest in pretending otherwise.
"If you're back here after so long I take it you need something." Loe said as if his feelings had been wounded in some way by Tyson's lack of visiting the past few years.
"You know him? Who is he?" Chi whispered to Tyson from the side as he walked up behind him. Fae was sure to follow behind Chi because he wanted to know as well who the man was.
"Loe.. runs the village here." Tyson gave the simplest answer he could think of for the man. It was hard for him to go into details about how the man trained him endlessly during his first year without bringing up his sister. He had not spoken of her for the past few years because losing her had eventually became too painful. The name of his sister had not been uttered from his mouth even to himself in over a year.
"Well.. Looks like you found a pure one here." Loe said as he sat down his wine.
Turning into a black cloud once more he wafted himself over the bar. Turning back into his physical form once again he began studying Chi's form. The boy almost reminded him of Tyson when he had first arrived at his village years ago but there was something different about Chi. The young one in front of him seemed even more pure. It was something that almost made him wonder why Numen would summon Chi to their realm at all.
"Pure one? What?" Chi was confused by the man's intrigued stare.
"I take it this one has never killed before." Loe did not need anyone to respond to him because his eyes could see clear into a person's soul. At a single glance if he wanted to he could see the soul and how badly a person was tainted. Whether it was something they felt or something they did he could tell how dark a person was. Many over the years had come to see him as something similar to a grim reaper. Though he did not need to carry some scythe because he wasn't really one. To the souls who lived among the village however he was their guardian and protector.
"No. He hasn't." Tyson responded as he unconsciously shifted his body in front of Chi without realizing his own action as he blocked the man from Loe's sight.
Not yet. Not ever. Tyson thought to himself without even catching himself thinking about it. In reality he knew that Chi was bound to eventually but as long as he could avoid it he would try to keep that day from coming.
"I need you to give us a lift." Tyson threw out the reason he came because he knew that Loe did not like to waste time on nonsense. The longer things dragged out he would only get annoyed at them for wasting his time. That was how he was with people he did not know that well.
"You mean the chariot? You're taking these two there.. Very well." Loe realized what Tyson wanted to do the moment he mentioned needing a lift. Normally he would object to giving others a lift but since it was Tyson who was requesting it he could not find the heart to turn the young man down. Turning away from them all he began to walk outside the bar to the street.
"Chariot? I didn't see anything like that in the village since we arrived." Chi thought out loud as the three of them followed behind Loe.
"Of course you didn't. Loe is the only one in the village who can call for it." Tyson said as he stopped right behind Loe. With Fae and Chi standing behind him he could feel the warmth of Chi standing close to him as he watched.
Raising his thumb and index finger to his mouth Loe let out a loud whistling noise that echoed throughout the streets. From a distance one could hear the call of a horse responding to him. Tyson had seen it many times before but no matter how many times he saw it the sight always had drawn him in. As if the horse was stepping out from a portal to another dimension it emerged from the shadows of the road itself.
Black as the night with patches of blue lights among it's fur the horse bobbed it's head up and down wide as if it was happy to arrive at the call of it's master. It's long black beautiful mane and tail blowing in the wind. Behind the horse was the chariot it pulled decorated in black and red with golden trim. The chariot had three seats that could easily sit two people each while there was still room for a driver up front but Loe had no need for one because the horse was controlled by his very will itself.
As the horse drawn chariot stopped in front of them Loe quickly got on without saying a word. It was a given that he would go with them because his chariot could only go so far from him before dissipating into thin air like a mirage. Climbing up behind him was Tyson who turned around to reach out his hand for Chi. Taking the man's hand in his for the first time he couldn't help but take note of how soft his touch was making him wonder just what did Chi do outside of Numen's Garden that kept himself so well kept. That question only lasted a moment though before he threw it aside because he felt there was no reason to ponder into the life of Chi when he was not even certain how long they would know each other.
