Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

By the time that Tyson had returned he could hear shouting from Fae as he kept trying to avoid Loe. Loe was wandering around his mansion behind Fae with a bottle of wine firm in his hand. Pouring himself a drink as he continuously tried to call out for Fae to sit and talk with him but the vampire wanted to be left alone. He was not interested in talking with the old spirit when he had no idea where Chi ran off to alone after Tyson.

"Where have you both been? You left me alone with that-?" Fae began ranting as soon as Tyson entered Loe's door with Chi. The look on his face was one of panic but before he could finish speaking Loe was already behind him.

"With that what? Please do continue." Loe said while leaning in so that he Fae knew he was able to hear him.

"Nothing! Pardon me!" Fae quickly grabbed hold of Chi and walked away from them both with him. He could see that Chi was worn down and barely able to keep himself standing.

"Fae? What?" Chi wanted to ask what he was hauling him away for but before he knew it they were already in the room that the both of them were suppose to stay in while they were at Loe's.

When Fae knew that they were away from the others he began to relax. Knowing that Chi was confused by how frustrated he was he could only force himself to calm down before speaking to him further. Caring about Chi he did not want him to become worried by how he was acting. Loe had done nothing wrong to him while they were gone. It was only that they had left him behind without a word when he had been with Chi first. His feelings felt wounded. Seeing Chi come back in such an exhausted state had made him furious at first but if the man was not going to complain about it then he had no right to either.

"Are you alright? What happened to you?" Fae asked him while shutting the door behind them.

"We've just been training." Chi said simply as he could not understand why Fae was so worried about him being exhausted.

"Right." Fae sighed to himself. Walking over to the guest room's bed and sitting down.

The dead did not require sleep so the bed was completely carved of wood. With nothing soft on top of it the bed was simply a carving created for decoration from the wildlife outside the mansion. In the entire mansion Loe had built over the years there was only one bed that actually had acquired a soft bedding built from plants and it was further down the hallway in Tyson's room. Craftsmanship was one thing that Loe was great at because it was how he passed the days over the centuries in Numen's Garden. Tyson had never asked the man over the years but he had come to firmly believe that it would not be impossible to consider the idea that Loe had been the designer behind the Village of Lost Souls himself.

"What are you so worried about? Tyson is a part of our group. Nothing would happen to me with him there." Chi folded his arms in front of his chest as if he felt defensive that Fae would worry so much about the two of them being alone. He felt safe when Tyson was around.

"I just don't.." Fae grit his teeth and flopped himself back onto the wooden bed without finishing his words. He was not sure what he wanted to say himself. Admitting that he felt like Chi was throwing him aside for Tyson would be like him simply blurting out he felt jealous.

"If you're done insinuating things I'm going to head back out there now. I'm still hungry." Chi said as a low growl could be heard from his stomach. It had been a while since he had anything to eat and he felt like he was going to get sick if he didn't find something soon.

"Do you like him?" Fae asked without looking in his direction before he could leave.

"Tyson? Yea, I like him. I care about both of you guys." Chi answered quickly without understanding the question. He did not know the real meaning behind Fae's question. Thinking of the question in the most innocent of ways he did care about Tyson. They were all a part of the same group so of course he cared about the man.

"That wasn't what I meant." Fae muttered to himself as he could hear the sound of Chi leaving the room. Shutting the door behind him as he left the room was enveloped in silence. Rolling on to his side on the wooden bed he stared at the wall.

The whole reason Fae had taken Chi under him in the beginning was because he had taken a liking to Chi the moment he saw him. Just like Tyson, he too had been drawn in by Chi's pure innocence. There was something about Chi that had the effect to draw people in. A brightness was in his heart that one who had only known suffering could easily want to reach out and grasp. Like the northern star calling a lost soul home. From a different world then Chi he had not come across many people as innocent and naive to the world as Chi was.

Fae did not want to be with Chi but he did acknowledge his own feelings for the man. The idea of pairing himself with a human was something he could not do. As a vampire he couldn't consider the idea. Humans were something he would out live even if they died by natural cause. It was just simply did not want to be pushed aside like he meant nothing at all. Since the day that Chi met Tyson he had felt the man pulling away from him.

"I'll try to tolerate him.. for your sake." Fae muttered to himself once more in the silent room. Noise from Tyson could be heard as the man headed for his own room. He could hear the sound of Tyson's door shutting behind him as the man went inside. Not feeling up to dealing with the others any longer he began to close his eyes to sleep. Food was not something he required much of and he did not need normal things like humans ate so he had no reason to get up. His conscious quickly faded away while the others prepared themselves to eat.
