Chapter 41 - Now I'm Mad

Charles stood on the edge of the crater overlooking Beelzebub's ship. Charles knew that everyone would be gone but Beelzebub, however, he hadn't been expecting there to be shadow guards.

Charles began to sink into the dirt. He had just identified a potential spot to enter the ship. Charles completely buried himself in the ground and began to swim through the dirt.

He surfaced right next to the ship. Standing right next to it for the first time, Charles was able to appreciate just how massive it was. Charles placed his hand on the side of the ship.

The metal began to warp and distort, allowing Charles to slip inside. Charles stepped through to the other side, appearing in a room. The room had a couch, refrigerator, pool table, several arcade machines, and what appeared to be a bed of sorts.

Charles didn't dwell on the room. Charles stepped through the door to the room and found himself in a curved hallway. Charles looked up and down the hall. He turned sideways and next to the door was a sign that read "Lounge" Charles ignored this and walked to the right.

He looked left and right at the doors he passed, not knowing which to check. Charles was about to go back and try the other way when he saw a shadow soldier standing in front of a door. Charles pressed himself against the wall. The soldier was completely motionless.

Whatever's behind that door must be important, Charles thought. Charles walked into the wall next to the room. Charles found himself in a bedroom. The room was covered with diagrams and pictures of Beelzebub.

Charles disregarded this and walked into the room's right wall. Charles emerged on the other side into a library. The walls of the library were covered in shelves filled with books. There was a fireplace on the adjacent wall to the door flanked by two armchairs.

In one of the armchairs was Benjamin. Benjamin turned at the sound of Charles entering. "Charles?" Benjamin asked, confused. "Isaiah sent me here to get you out," Charles said.

Charles opened a hole in the wall. Benjamin and Charles stepped through it. Benjamin opened the door to the bedroom and stepped through it into the hallway. "I'll take you back to where I came in from," Charles said. Charles led the way down the hall back to the door labeled "Lounge" The two stepped inside and Charles led them back through the wall he came through.

Charles cautiously stepped through the wall back onto the ground outside the ship. Charles looked around and noticed a suspicious lack of shadow soldiers. Charles carefully led Benjamin to the edge of the crater.

The two scaled the side of the crater. Once they had reached the rim Benjamin asked, "Where is everyone else?" "They went off to go find those people who invaded our home and fight them," Charles replied.

Charles took off, catching Benjamin by surprise. Benjamin followed after Charles and the two stopped after running to another asteroid. Charles turned to face Benjamin.

"The others are probably still fighting right now," Charles explained. Benjamin tilted his head to the side. He didn't understand why Charles would tell him this now instead of back at the crater. "That means they can't help you."

Charles whipped out a sword that caught Benjamin in the face. Benjamin was caught in the face. A cut opened on Benjamin's face. "What the heck Charles?" Benjamin asked. "I guess now is a good time to explain," Charles replied. "I'm in collusion with your father.

He wants you dead so that he can have complete and absolute power. If I help him, I'll be his second in command." Charles finished explaining. Benjamin looked at Charles, horrified. "You betrayed us," Benjamin exclaimed. "I never said I was on your side," Charles responded. Charles whipped around a sword. The blade of the sword extended, lashing out like a whip. Benjamin pulled out Broken War and held it in front of his face.

Broken War blocked the hit, however, Benjamin was pushed back some. "Come out," Benjamin yelled. Shadow soldiers began to rise around Benjamin and Charles. Charles looked around at the soldiers with an amused look on his face.

"That old trick?" Charles said. The shadow soldiers charged at Charles. Charles used his whip sword and took out the first three waves of soldiers.

A larger soldier leaped at Charles. It brandished its war hammer and took a powerful swing at Charles's head. Charles ducked the swing and transformed his sword into an ax.

Charles swung the ax upward, cleaving the soldier in half. The soldiers didn't relent, however. Charles transformed the ax into a spear and plunged it into the ground.

The ground began to open holes that swallowed the soldiers up. "Crush," Charles said. "Back to me," Benjamin said. I don't have enough mana to keep regenerating my soldiers, he thought.

Charles suddenly morphed his spear into a bow. Charles pulled back the string and an energy arrow appeared. Charles pulled the string back until the bow began to glow white.

Charles released the drawstring and the arrow flew, leaving a trail of energy behind it. Benjamin raised broken war just in time to stop the arrow from piercing his head. A shower of sparks fell from where the arrow bounced off Broken War.

Charles didn't stop there. Charles ran at Benjamin, dragging his hand along the ground. The dirt that he sent into the air congregated together until it formed an animal skull of sorts. Charles jumped, letting the skull rocket under him.

Benjamin, who had been preparing for Charles to attack, was hit by the skull. The skull grabbed Benjamin in its mouth and flew off into the air. Charles jumped on top of the skull. "Let's put you back in the ground," Charles mocked.

Charles jumped as the skull began to plummet toward an asteroid. The skull tightened its grip on Benjamin before slamming him into the asteroid with extreme speed. Benjamin spat blood as he was crushed beneath the skull.

Out of the corner of his eye, Benjamin saw Charles ready for something. Charles was holding his spear, which was glowing white. Charles pulled the spear back and threw it directly at Benjamin and the skull.

The spear went through the opening in the back of the skull and slammed into Benjamin's stomach. The spear pierced straight through the asteroid, taking Benjamin along with it.

Benjamin slammed into another asteroid. As the spear returned to its thrower. Benjamin stood up, the wounds on his body already healing. Benjamin spat out some blood and said, "Now I'm mad," with a deadly look on his face.
