The demon slammed its hand against the asteroid., shattering it instantly. Velena and Benjamin were thrown away slamming into another asteroid.
Benjamin could feel the overwhelming power coming from the creature. None of his shadows could compare.
I need Kai for this, Benjamin thought. "Don't you have any shadows you could use?" Velena asked him, slowly getting to his feet. "I'm trying," Benjamin replied.
He was trying. "Try to hold it off," Benjamin told Velena. Velena raised an eyebrow at him and flew into the air at the demon.
Benjamin stabbed his sword into the ground. "Dark lord's authority," Benjamin said. A shadowy suit of armor appeared behind Benjamin.
A black crown slowly manifested on his head. The crown glowed black in the light. Benjamin raised his hand into the air. His stand instantly whipped to it, dissolving into shadow and covering the sword in shadow.
Benjamin didn't know how, but he knew that he had to summon every single one of his shadows for this to work.
Benjamin closed his eyes. The crown on his head began to glow brighter and brighter. The shadows around Benjamin began to shift.
Benjamin's aura began to shift as well. Shadow soldiers began to rise from the shifting shadows. The second they were out of the shadows, they flew towards Benjamin.
They were absorbed into Broken War, making its aura even bigger. Benjamin's aura shifted towards the sword.
The sword was soon completely consumed in black energy. Benjamin opened his eyes. He watched as Velena tried her best to avoid the constant attacks from the demon.
Benjamin felt the anger rise in his heart. If Charles did so much as touch Velena, Benjamin would personally rip out his soul. That anger was the last piece Benjamin needed.
"Kai!!!" he yelled. He plunged his hand to the ground. The asteroid beneath him instantly shattered, turning into small rocks and dust. The crown on Benjamin's head glowed as brightly as it could.
Kai stretched its legs and let out a fearsome roar. Benjamin stumbled slightly on the top of the monster.
Summoning it had taken a massive amount of energy. Benjamin stood up straight. He pointed at Charles and yelled, "Death's scream!!!" Kai opened its mouth and fired a black beam of energy at Charles and the demon.
Charles watched the beam approach him with mock fear on his face. "Malak," he said. Malak raised its arm and opened its palm.
In the palm of its hand, a pentagram formed. The beam of black energy slammed into the pentagram but did not affect Charles or Malak.
Benjamin watched as the beam turned into a ball in Malak's palm. "Mirror barrier," Charles yelled triumphantly.
The ball of black energy turned back into a beam; a beam that was headed straight for Benjamin.
Benjamin could do nothing but watch as his attack was reflected at him. The beam slammed into Benjamin and Kai.
Benjamin was barely able to survive the attack in his weakened state. He fell to his knees and clung to Kai's back. The beam finally passed and Benjamin was left on an evaporating Kai.
Charles laughed triumphantly. Malak raised its hand. White energy began to gather in the palm of its hands. The massive ball of energy grew bigger and bigger until it was the size of a small asteroid.
Charles looked at Benjamin with contempt in his eyes. He would be the one to triumph over Benjamin. Not Corey, and certainly not Beelzebub. "Oblivion awaits you," Charles said to Benjamin as Malak threw the ball of energy.
The energy ball moved slowly, but it was so massive that Benjamin had no chance of dodging it.
Benjamin lowered his head as he kneeled on the disintegrating kai. I've failed, he thought, what kind of friend am I?
The ball of energy consumed the asteroids that passed through it, adding to its size. Benjamin closed his eyes and waited for the fate that awaited him.
"Benjamin!!!" he heard Velena yell. Benjamin's eyes snapped open. He quickly scanned his surroundings and saw Velena flying in front of the ball of energy.
Benjamin was happy to see him until he realized the horrifying truth. Velena wasn't going to make it to him before the ball hit. Velena was flying straight in front of the ball, trying his best not to get consumed.
Benjamin felt his heart pounding in his chest as he watched Velena try to escape.
However, something was different. It was as though he could feel every heartbeat. Benjamin picked up Broken War. "Oh no you don't!!!" he screamed at Charles.
Benjamin jumped into the air as Kai finally disintegrated completely.
Benjamin had no idea where this newfound power was coming from but he wasn't going to squander it. Benjamin lept past Velena and into the ball of light.
The ball suddenly stopped in midair from the sheer force of his leap. Benjamin was blinded. He couldn't see anything but the white light that surrounded him. But that didn't matter. Benjamin could still sense Charles.
That megalomaniac would have to pay. Benjamin's anger fueled his power, causing it to surge past limits he didn't know existed. Benjamin channeled every last ounce of his new energy into Broken War.
This is it, he thought, Every last drop of my power will go into this next attack. The aura around Broken War began to grow smaller, and more condensed. I don't need any more time, Benjamin thought.
Three runic symbols now appeared on his blade. The two for soul and death were there, but a new one had appeared on the edge of the blade.
It was the runic symbol for shadow. Benjamin continued to push through the ball of energy. The aura around Broken War finally melded to the blade, staining it black. Benjamin felt the handle of the sword burning his skin.
However, he didn't care. He would defeat Charles and Beelzebub to save his home. "This is your end, Charles!!!" Benjamin yelled, "Reaping slash!!!" Benjamin then focused all of his energy while pulling his sword over his head. "Let's go partner," he said to Broken War. Benjamin swung Broken War with all his might, creating a crescent-like slash filled with dark energy. "It's beautiful," Charles said, shedding tears of joy. "However, it's time for me to take my leave," he said, dematerializing.
Benjamin seemed to be in a trance, unable to hear a word charles said. In the middle of his attack, he blacked out.
After what seemed to be an eternity later, he finally woke up gasping and coughing.
When he finally caught breath he realized that he was alone in a dark space with no recollection of what happened.
