Years were spent fighting, feeding, training newborns then killing them before they got out of their newborn phase. It had become a simple routine for Simon. He had developed his ability quite nicely he was able to make weapons out of blood a sword, a dagger, an arrow even an axe. He had also successfully been able to make bullet projectiles that put guns to shame. His power to control the blood in other's body also became stronger he could make his enemy feel great pain, explode their blood to the extent that the became pieces and even make those stronger who he wanted by using the same method he had done for himself. Now he had been trying to find a way to keep blood in his body.
A new batch of newborns had been brought it was given to him to train them in combat while beating loyalty into them. As their training progressed he noticed a newborn that could fight well, it was evident from his moves that he had been trained in military.
Simon wasn't the only one who had noticed this as when their time to killed came near Jasper talked to Maria to spare Peter as he would prove useful in future fights. Simon was of the same mind as it would surely make them stronger and having strength was never a bad idea especially in a war struck area like the South.
When the time for execution came instead of Simon or Jasper killing them they chose to give the work to Peter to decide whether he would prove himself useful or not and as both of them had expected Peter didn't disappoint he killed every newborn without any hesitation. He also knew that it was because of Simon and Jasper that he was allowed to live.
Peter started to grow close to Simon and Jasper after all there were not many permanent members of the coven and after fighting and killing along side them it was only natural to develop a bond. The three of them had started to consider each other as brothers. With Jasper being the elder brother,Simon the middle and Peter the youngest. Peter had once complained about how he should be the middle brother because Simon was stuck at 15 while he was 18 only to feel an deathly pain that was due to him limbs being punctured by blood bullets.
Peter was also given a batch of vampires of train which he accepted without any complaint. The quality of the batches were dropping as they had to be careful not to alert the humans which make the Volturi take action while having enough strength to protect themselves.
Simon started to see Peter with a girl which he didn't bother too much with after all even Simon had spent time with newborn girls inorder to calm down his raging hormones.
As the time to execute the weak newborns approached near Peter often acted weird and it didn't take a genius to guess what had happened, he had fallen in love with the newborn girl.
Simon got to know that she was Charlotte a weak girl who was more suited to become a scholar instead of fighter. Simon had deduced that they both would leave the coven and go live their own lives since there was little to no chance that Maria would allow Charlotte to live, which didn't bother him instead he felt happy that his brother could move away from all this bloodshed.
Finally the time to execute the newborns arrived. Simon already knew that Peter was going to escape today.
At night, Simon came face to face with Peter who was holding Charlotte's hand. As soon as he saw Simon he got into a defensive position hiding Charlotte behind his back.
"You know it isn't nice to leave without saying goodbye." Simon said as a small smile appeared on his face.
Peter was stunned he had been expecting to fight his way the coven but here Simon didn't even bother to stop him and was just here to say goodbye.
While they were standing in front of each other Jasper also arrived at the scene. He just saw them both and nodded towards Peter after which Peter and Charlotte ran away from the place.
"You know Maria is not going to like this. She has already become paranoid after Lucy's and Nettie's betrayal."
Jasper face became grim and he simply replied, "I know."
