Simon was standing in the middle of a circular arena. The members of Volturi sitting around it.
"My dear Simon, we are all anxiously waiting for you performance. You can start whenever you're ready." Aro said impatiently, urging Simon to start his performance.
Simon nodded and took a vial of dark black goo from his chest pocket. He looked at it, it contained the blood of nearly 70 humans and shape shifters combined. He had compressed the blood to such an extent that it seemed more like black goo. He had only two such vials but he decided to use one because even if Volturi would protect him from others there would be no one to help him if anyone within the Volturi attacked him, so he needed to assert his dominance in this dog eat dog coven.
He threw it up in the air as soon as it reached it's highest point it exploded but instead of falling it covered the whole area. The floor, the sky and the sides where covered in red blood. The arena was covered in a blood cube. Strangely even though the vampires were exposed to such a large quantity of blood nobody felt thirst.
Then small inhuman figures started to from from the blood.
Felix threw two newborns near Simon who went rushing towards him bearing their fangs and claws. Before they could reach Simon one of them stopped and screamed at the top of it's lungs Simon raised his hand towards it and clenched his fist. The newborn melted into nothingness becoming a part of the blood cube. While the other one was attacked by the blood figures they entered inside his blood through his mouth, ears, eyes, nostril and pores. The newborns skin started bubbling until he dropped and the blood figure tore open his skin to come out, he too melted into the blood.
"Ah! How fabolous! Fascinating! My dear Simon you are truly a gem that we have acquired." Aro exclaimed with joy. "You shall be a part of the guards of Volturi. Jane you will be his partner."
"Wait. I am Jane's partner. Give him somebody else." came Alec's voice from the seats clearly unhappy with this arrangement.
"Alec, I have already have my decision. You will be working with Felix. You and your sister's gift don't complement each other well."
Alec knew that there was nothing he could do to change Aro's decision, if he said anymore his position in Volturi maybe compromised after all Aro didn't like anyone going against him.
"Does anyone else have a problem?" Aro asked, even though it was clear that he was not asking for anyone's opinion. He moved his eyes around until they landed on Jane.
"I am satisfied with this arrangement."
"Very well then. Since you are Simon's partner why not show him around it would be better to know each other since you'll be together."
Jane nodded.
After everyone except Jane, Simon and Alec had left the arena. Alec approached Simon.
"I don't care how useful you are to Aro, if anything happens to my sister I will kill you in the most painful way possible."
Simon gave a cheeky smile, "sure you could try."
Alec stared at Simon murderously and walked away fuming.
Simon looked at Jane, who seemed to have become even more beautiful than yesterday.
"Let's go. I'll introduce you to the people that you'll often come across. Then I'll show you the places here."
Simon quietly followed behind her not taking his off her even for a moment. He didn't even notice when they reached a room that was smelling of blood. Jane turned back to look at him only to see him staring at her intensely. Jane developed a light yellow shade on her cheeks.
Jane coughed to recompose herself, "this is the room of Heidi, she is our blood collector." Jane opened the door. Infront of them was sitting a mature voluptuous women who was busy extracting blood from the humans.
Heidi noticed them and gave an alluring smile, "oh my if it isn't the blood demon. You know I am very interested in you, why don't you come to me and we'll have some fun."
Before Simon could answer, Jane used her ability to make Heidi fall onto ground. Heidi uttered with great difficulty.
"It was only a joke. I'm sorry I won't do it again. Just stop it."
Heidi breathed heavily as she stood back up.
They were about to leave when Heidi called them, "wait."
Jane turned and looked at Heidi with an intense gaze, Heidi flinched.
"I just wanted to know why none of us was attracted to the blood cube you made."
"Oh that's because I just took away the elements that attract a vampire to blood in the first place." Simon said in a matter of factly tone.
"Then..."
"I know what you're going to ask. It's not possible, those elements become useless the moment they are separated from blood. And blood as a whole is required for thirst."
Simon turned around and left. As soon as Jane left the room and closed the door. Simon leaned near her ear and whispered, "you know you didn't have to do that I would've rejected her myself. Or were you so jealous that you couldn't stop yourself."
Jane glared at Simon and huffed away. But as soon as she turned a beautiful smile adorned her face.
