After continuous running they finally arrived in Volterra, Italy. The home of the royal vampires, Volturi. it is an ancient Italian city, very beautiful, situated on a hill and built from cinnamon brown stone. The majestic buildings stood tall showing the pride of their owners. Simon was led to the central building which resembled a castle.
Arriving inside the chambers, the guards went to the sides leaving Simon alone in the center facing three men sitting on a higher platform. It didn't take a genius to know that they were the founders of Volturi.
"My dear child. Welcome to Volturi." The long haired man sitting in the middle spoke in soft tone that seemed as if he cared for vampires like he were their mother. But Simon didn't fall for it, he knew that the person infront of him was a selfish old man who had do many questionable things to keep himself in power and to keep his superiority over vampires. "I am Aro, the head of Volturi."
Simon gave a curt bow, "it is my great pleasure that the head of Volturi would seek me out."
"Oh, my child, there is no need for these foolish formalities" Aro shook his head but his eyes conveyed that he was very pleased with that the person infront of h knew how to show proper courtesy to his betters.
Simon only nodded his head. Still on guard, he had already decided not to believe a word that came out the mouth of the person infront of him.
"Ah you must be wondering why you were called here. I doubt Felix would've explained to you the reason of your summon."
"Yes. It was quite surprising I had not expected the Volturi to summon me."
"You see it's very simple. I would like you to join the Volturi.'
Simon sighed, he had already deduced that the Volturi had become aware of his power and status as a nomadic vampire and wanted him to join them.
"Hypothetically, what would happen if I refuse?"
The temperature of the room started to fall. Aro looked at him and smiled showing his upper teeth, "nothing. Nothing at all. After all we are civilized men, not some brutes, we won't force anyone to join us." But only the words sounded like he had an option the body language, the room, the eyes of everyone present told Simon the obvious truth.
"Very well. I shall join the Volturi. After all, it is the greatest coven." Simon knew even if he could escape from here the Volturi would deem him as a threat and chase him to no end, plus the thought of Jane compelled him to agree to the invitation.
"Excellent choice, my dear Simon." Aro got up and hugged Simon who just stood still there. "From now on you are a part of our coven. Offending or hurting you would be the same as going against us."
Simon held back his urge to spit on his face. After all, these words were coming from somebody who brainwashed and drugged his own coven members so that they would stay loyal to Volturi. Even now his own wife was locked up and being drugged so she wouldn't interfere with Volturi.
"Felix, why don't you show Simon around and tell him about his performance tomorrow. After all, it has been a long time since we got a new member."
The proud demeanor Felix had shown before was nowhere to be seen, he was acting as a well trained and docile pet. He simply nodded to wards Simon and started to walk away with Simon following him.
"Tomorrow you will have to show your power infront of the members of Volturi by doing so we decide how useful you are to the Volturi and it also decides your influence. It is advised that you do your best. Every member has a room to themselves they can whatever they want as long as they don't break the laws. Your room is this one for today, a permanent one would be given to you after your results tomorrow." Felix stopped in front of a door. "Blood will be provided to you, you don't have to worry about it. If you have any questions ask now."
"Jane, does she have a mate?"
Felix raised an eyebrow but shook his head, "no".
Simon nodded absent mindedly and went inside the room given to him, not even noticing himself grinning.
In another room, Aro, Marcus and Caius were discussing Simon. "Hmm, it is evident that the boy is strong, in addition to his gift he can become a great force for us." Contemplated Caius.
"Indeed, but we would need his loyalty to be with Volturi otherwise he is useless."
"We should just make use of Corin's gift and make him addicted or have Chelsea make a mate bond with someone we can trust as we have always done."
"There would be no need for that." Marcus finally spoke in a calm collective voice.
"And why is that my dear friend?"
"A mate bond has already started to form between between the boy and Jane."
Both Aro and Caius looked shocked then burst out laughing, "that is even better we don't even have to do anything and there is no way that Jane would betray us."
"Indeed, to a healthy relationship between Simon and Jane for the strength of Volturi." Aro raised his goblet.
"For the Volturi." the two of them followed suit.
