Chapter 35 - A song for you

"alright alright, I won't leave" Dana said as she ran her hand through his hair, she couldn't help but notice how soft his hair was, like that of a baby. Immediately reality hit her she quickly redrew her hand.

"Where's your phone?" Linx asked Dana.

"Um it's switched off, didn't charge it" Dana replied nervously as her heart raced due to how she had let her self play with Linx's hair.

"There's no candle in the house  phone's in the room, let's go get it." Linx said as he rose to his feet.

"Oh... alright" Dana replied her mind running through silly thoughts, she wasn't one to think about silly things but she was a bit hesitant to go to Linx's room with him, he was a good guy but the incident that happened years ago thought her never to trust any man.

As her mind still pondered over going up with him, she felt something warm brush against her hand and softly his fingers intertwined with hers, unconsciously she let out a low grasp as her eyes met with his.

Together they both stood in the cold rushing in from sea through the ceiling to floor windows that were all open they gazed into each other's eyes. Dana was static as she watched him raise his finger to her lips before she jolted back, but he took a step closer to where she stood, her back leaning on the wall.

"Wh...at... what are you doing senior Linx?" Dana's quivering lips managed to stutter out as her eyes blinked widely.

Slowly he used his thump to wipe the lower part of her lips.

"Sauce. You had sauce on your lips" Linx replied still looking Dana dead in the eye. He didn't know why she looked so scared, one second she looked nervous and unable to move which made he happy that he had such an effect on her but now she looked horrified. Darkness was his weakness but in his weakness he had seen a weaker side of a girl who always seemed so indifferent to things and all he wanted to do was hug her even when he too was so scared of  the dark but he couldn't, he figured that would scare her to her heels so he took a step back.

"I thought you're scared of the dark? How could you even see the sauce on my lips?" Dana inquired half irritated that Linx might have just been putting up an act.

"The reflection from the moon angry birdie. And yes, I am scared of the dark, but you are here so I don't have to worry." Linx replied noticing her change of tune.

"Oh... I see. Let's go get the phone then." Dana said in a small voice before leading the way up the stairs even when she could barely see a thing all the way using her hands and her minds eyes to make their way through.

Linx had held on to her hand tighter as the moved into the hallway which was completely dark unlike the living room that had little reflection from the moon.

"Don't be scared, I'm here." Dana said, reassuring Linx.

"Ha, who said I was. When I've got witch by my side why would I be scared? If any monster comes out from the dark I'm sure your face would scare it." Linx replied, surprising Dana.

"Really? Alright then, walk on your own." Dana said as she let go off him and started walking away. She couldn't believe he still had such a sharp tongue even when he was obviously frightened. She kept mumbling words to herself as she tried to find her way through the dark but then a loud noise caught her attention and quickly she ran back to a figure shaking like a left on the ground.

"Please don't leave me! Please don't leave me! Pleaseeee...."

Dana heard Linx cry out, his hands wrapped around his knees.

"I'm not leaving... I'm right here" Dana said. She felt really bad seeing him like that. Her hands moved to touch him but he quickly flinched.

"Don't touch me JJ!" Linx thundered, his hands pushing Dana to the floor. Immediately the lights came back on, and like a force Linx came back to himself as he crawled to where Dana had fallen.

"I'm so sorry, I'm very sorry Dana." He apologized as his hands rubbed through the area on Dana's head that she held.

"Um, it's fine.. really it is." Dana replied trying to let out a smile despite the pain that was radiating through her skull. She didn't want to see him looking so terrified and sorry for something that was her fault, he obviously had a past traumatic experience which made him so scared of the dark and she had intensionally put him through that again.

"I should have just bared his taunts....ishh I'm such a bad person." She said through her teeth as she watched Linx put ice on her head. He looked so calm, like a baby. A while ago while they were in the dark she had been imagining Bingwen when he had come closer to her and touched her lips, they seemed so familiar, it was like she was looking at Bingwen and she hated herself for even thinking about Bingwen who had totally ghosted her and failed to tell her he was married and now he was still stuck in her mind.

"I'm sorry..." Dana managed to say as Linx moved to the fridge to get another ice pack.

"Don't be, it's my fault and I'll make it up to you." Linx replied smiling at Dana as he walked over to were she sat.

"You really don't have to." Dana replied smiling painfully back at him.

"Nope I do. Go inside and wear something long and meet me by the beach side." Linx said referring to the bum short and big polo she was wearing.

"Is that really necessary? I mean I'm fine this way, besides you don't need to make it up to me."

Dana replied making a puppy dog face at Linx who was already walking out of the house.

"It's an order. I'm the boss here remember, so hurry up and don't keep me waiting." Linx yelled back as he walked out if the house.
