The wind blew by giving Dana chills as her eyes wondered through the desolated park which was once filled with life. The merry go round, the swing, the ferris wheel Haneul had forced her to take despite knowing how scared she was of heights, thankfully she had survived a near heart attack from the incident. They had raced all the way to the park, laughing and making jokes about how Ari had confessed how she felt towards Haneul in front of the whole class earlier that day seeing it was Valentine's day but in the end got rejected by Haneul.
"Why did you reject Ari though? She's not so bad and she's really pretty and popular you know.
Dana asked Haneul as they strode out from where they had taken the ferris wheel that had almost made her heart stop beating.
"And a bully. She bullies you and you know only I have the right to do that Caihong." Haneul replied cupping Dana's face unto his palm as he stared into her eyes.
"Is that why you don't want to accept her?" Dana asked quickly walking ahead of Haneul to avoid the awkward situation she had just been in with him.
"Yes and well, I don't like her. I like someone else." Haneul replied, his face expressionless as he waited to see her reaction.
"Eiyoo how come I don't know about that eh. I thought you liked Yin Yin but you've secretly had your eyes on another girl." Dana said, her lips curved in big sheepish smiles, her grey eyes twinkling like she had just heard the most wonderful news.
"So tell me, who's the unlucky girl who's stolen this demon's heart?" Dana asked, tucking on to Haneul's school jacket.
"I can't." Haneul replied ignoring her and moving slower than he normally walked.
"And why's that" Dana shot back, her lips turned in a sad cute puppy dog pout.
"She might run away if I do." Haneul said, his eyes looking sad as they absentmindedly trailed the clouds.
"Is she Cinderella or something? She won't know, it's not like I would tell her I am your best friend come on." Dana protested as she pulled Haneul's tie. Three years ago she wouldn't have imagined herself calling him her best friend, but somehow they had gotten along and she had come to care deeply about him. He was like an elder brother she didn't have, he stood by her no matter what, helped her loose weight, helped her study and escape been sent to country T to start working at one of the Sisterhood owned clubs for the past years she had known him he had made her sad life somewhat better.
"I can't tell you who she is but I can tell you about her." Haneul replied, smiling painfully at her face which was only a few inches away from his as they were almost the same height.
"Um... I think that's still ok. So tell me, is she pretty?" Dana asked grinning widely as she excitedly waited to get clues on how she looked, she might as well figure out who she was.
"Yes. She's really very pretty. She has beautiful eyes that twinkle like the stars when she smiles, and when she does smile she looks like she's from some celestial ream. Like a rainbow she brings colour to my life. She's talkative and sharp tongued only when she's around me, she's smart and reasonable sometimes. I can guess she's the one by just listening to her foot steps, I could go on and on but she isn't mine, she's only mine in my dreams and imaginations." As Haneul finished his last sentence he slowly turned to face Caihong (Dana) who was lost in thought as she tried to think of a girl that fit into his description but nothing came to mind.
"I didn't know you were so poetic, I mean you can do more than just do crazy calculation and taunt me. And what's this she brings colours to your life, so what do I bring? Rain??" Dana asked looking a little sad and pissed.
"Are you jealous?" Haneul asked her, smirking at her reaction.
"Haq! Why would I be? I don't care, she can bring all the colors of the rainbow for all I care, I am Caihong remember, the real rainbow is standing in front of you" Dana said flipping her curly hair behind her which caused Haneul to chuckle before he started walking again.
"You're so dumb Wei Caihong but you're right about one thing, you're the one and only real rainbow the one that fills my life with so much colour." Haneul muttered to himself, smiling at how he had just told her how he felt but still hadn't told her it was her that he was talking about.
Dana squeezed her eyes shut to break off the inflow of the memory that filled her mind as she walked into the empty park. Everywhere reminded her of the past and somehow her mind had gone back to the last time she was here with Haneul. The park was so colourful back then but now it seemed like it had lost all it's life just like she had over the years. Everywhere was dark, the cold that used to feel so warm because of the crowd that filled the park with laugher, smiles and all sorts of emotions that made humans humane but now an empty cold breeze filled the air causing her to quiver despite the hoody she was wearing. The hoody had been to disguise herself so no one would recognize her but she was glad she wore it as the bright sunny day that had taken over the sky was gone and now replaced with cold dark clouds.
"There's no going back now, I need to find who the hell is playing this dumb joke on me tonight." Dana muttered to herself as she walked into the Cinema the dry leafs that filled the park crying underneath her feet as she made her way through. The sign that read Cinema had only three letters left, it now read "C..E..MA", the bright neon lights that used to illuminate it were all gone, cob webs now helped to frame the remaining letters.
