Chapter 6 - Ancient Blood

Galactic Year 2175, Bludfist Tower, Xeno Euro

"By the way, Lord Alex, is it true? Are you really not a full vampire?" Eric was standing next to me at the bar, whispering just below vampire hearing level.

"Yes, Master Eric, it's true. I am naturally born from a human woman." I whispered just as low, "My father saw it prudent to keep me away from the clan until I came of age. Though I disagree with his methods, I do agree that I would not be alive now if I hadn't been raised outside the clan."

"Does that mean you have magic, like the other humans?" Eric and I'm sure, every other vampire, wanted to know the answer to this burning question.

"Unfortunately, no. Magic aptitude usually appears in humans at the age of 16 and here I am, 16 and no magical aptitude to speak of." I remained calm and collected through the conversation, giving nothing away. I couldn't let my lack of magic prevent me from my goal, I would take over this clan in my own way, with the power I was born with. Even if it killed me.

"Master Eric, you shouldn't speak about such things here." Lenora whispered viciously from my other side. Clearly, she didn't trust Eric either. Well, that made two of us. I turned from the bar and observed the rest of the ballroom. Not a single vampire was dancing, they were all socializing, but there was no dancing. The music was also low and a bit gloomy.

"You know," I spoke up so that the room could hear me, "This setting is too soft for a celebration. Let us dance!" With those words, I snapped my fingers and the music changed to a more lively setting. I turned to Lenora and held out my right hand, my ring shining in the light.

"Lady Lenora, may I have the honor of dancing with you." Lenora's face was absolutely red and she turned her head to the side shyly.

"I-If that is what you wish, My Lord..." She spoke weakly but raised her hand. I took it in my grasp and reached my other hand to her face, pulling her face to look at me.

"You are about to dance with the heir to the throne, my Lady, hold your head high and proud, for I have chosen to spend this time with you." My words were a bit overbearing and a very small amount of my bloodline power leaked into my voice, but this is what I wanted. I wanted to be able to chose my dancing partner. Lenora took a deep breath before raising her head proudly and following me onto the dance floor. I leaned over and whispered in her ear.

"Just relax, my Lady, and follow my lead." I then proceeded to spin her around before taking her into my embrace and locking eyes with her. Lenora's face was flushed with excitement from the fluid motions and elegant way I spun her before me and her eyes shone a bright crimson in the dancing lights. She was absolutely beautiful.

"Amazing..." The word was the lowest whisper, but it still escaped my lips before I could stop it and Lenora's face burned ever brighter as her heart beat quickly in her chest. The music finally struck up and we began dancing in the center of the ballroom. I noticed others watching us dance for a few moments before finding their own partners and joining us on the dance floor. We spun around the dance floor in an elegant dance that captivated those watching.

When the song finally ended, I sensed danger coming from behind me and spun Lenora out of the way as a blade flashed by where my head had been. "So the assassination attempts begin." I said with a growl, spinning to face my attacker.

There was a man standing behind me holding a long, thin bladed sword. I grinned and let my blood boil up, using my resting rage to fuel my transformation. My aura exploded out and crashed into the assassin. Everyone else immediately fled to the sides of the floor, giving space for the fight.

"I seem to be at a disadvantage here, you have a sword, while I am bare handed." The words came out with a powerful rumble that reverberated throughout the room. I flashed a supernaturally large grin, revealing the four and a half inch fangs sliding out of my gums, further thickening my voice. "Though I haven't ever found out which type of life energy I feed on. I do apologize if this is uncomfortable for you, but it's my first time feeding in this way." As I spoke, I walked right up to the man, he was frozen and shaking. Absolutely paralyzed and powerless in front of my bloodline.

"His bloodline, it's Ancient!" I heard someone in the crowd say before I grabbed the man's head and pulled it to the side, burying my fangs deep into his throat. His blood was acrid and disgusting to me, he was a vampire after all, but through his blood, I could feel the life energies of this man. His memories, emotions, his soul. I was all there and I took it all. Now it should be noted that vampires usually can only feed on one of those three life energies, but I suppose due to my bloodline, I had access to all three.

I felt power flow into my being like ice running through my veins, it was euphoric. I felt my body and mind become much more powerful, though the increase went mostly unnoticed by the others. The vampire in front of me collapsed into a pile of ash and clothing. The other vampires were staring at me, still in my transformation with blood dripping down my chin onto the floor.
