Chapter 11 - Tying Clans Together

Galactic Year 2175, Bludfist Tower Penthouse

I stood with my three brides in the living area of the penthouse. Lord Vladimir and Earlan had left the room to give me some time to speak with the ladies.

"Well, My Ladies, this was unexpected. I would never have dreamed of being so lucky as to catch the eye of all of you."

"Well, My Lord, you are a very attractive man. What woman, human or vampire, would not take the chance, as slim as it may be right now, to bear living vampire children?"

"Indeed, I suppose you have a point Lady Christine. But I do not believe a human woman would agree with you. Humans have long resented vampires, hell even I resent vampires as a species for the most part. I have spent my entire life suppressing my vampiric nature, hating and resenting it. But it is something I must embrace if I am to complete my goals." My words grew heavy with emotion, something most vampires couldn't understand. However, there was one woman in the room that seemed to understand, Lenora.

"My Lord, I do not believe humans or vampires to be so narrow minded as to not take the chance at bringing our species together. You are a living vampire! Though you are alive as humans are, you also have the full power of your vampire heritage. It was proven last night that the power of your vampiric heritage is no less than a turned vampire." Lenora's voice held more emotion than I had ever heard from a vampire. She believed what she said and I couldn't help but fall into her words.

"Lenora, that is very...optimistic of you. I, however, do not agree. Humans have always feared and hated vampires. We are long lived and we do not die of old age. Nor do we age, we retain our prime physical condition, even growing stronger as time passes and we devour more life essence. Humans tend to try and cut our life spans short by culling the herd, so to speak. They see us as monsters, not as a species that is natural to this world." Silva, the eldest sister, spoke up. Her voice, very noticeably, lacked emotion when talking about humans. Though at the mention of vampires being killed, her voice grew thick with anger.

"But, Silva, you know that our sister is newly turned. She has only been with the clan for a few months, she is still learning our history. She has not seen the horrors that we have and we will now be part of a new, more powerful, clan." Christine stepped in to try and mediate the conversation and I appreciated her level head.

"Ladies, let us have this conversation another time. We need to complete the Ritual of Tying. We should focus on that and the celebration afterward." I stopped the women from arguing further and changed the focus to our coming "wedding". There was much to plan so I sat down with my three brides on the comfortable couches. We talked and planned our Ritual of Tying for a few nights from now. It would, of course, be auspicious as hell. The future of vampires, no, life on earth, depended on me. I felt the pressure building and I knew that it would not just be smooth sailing. Because as much as Vampires wanted to survive, they were afraid of the unknown, just like humans.

After our conversation ended, close to sunrise, the ladies left to return to their castle and I went to rest in my room. As I lay in my bed with only my thoughts as company, I ran over my goals and plan of action again and again until I finally fell asleep around mid morning.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I awoke to a faint rustling sound in my room. The dark didn't mean much to my vision and I could sense the presence standing over me immediately. Suddenly, I heard a vicious voice.

"Prodigal son, BAH. I spit on your lineage, ABOMINATION!!!" Suddenly, I felt a powerful sting in my chest. There was a blade pressed through my ribs and up into my heart. My vision began to grow dark as the shadowed figure disappeared into shadow and my consciousness started fading.

[Detecting Host in a fatal position, now activating Gods' Magic System.... Calibrating 0%]

With my last conscious thoughts, I wondered at the sudden words that appeared in my mind. 'Gods' Magic System? What?'

With that last thought, my vision went black and my consciousness slipped away.

I came to in a flat grey void of space, my awareness barely registering the faint outline of a loading bar sitting at 50%.

[Initializing Gods' Magic System 50%....51%]

I watched through hazy eyes as the loading bar slowly filled in front of my eyes, eventually....

[Initializing Gods' Magic System.... 100%]

[Fusing with Host's soul...]

[Fusion Complete!]

[Welcome host, Alex]

"W-Where am I?" I spoke the words through dry lips.

[Host is currently within your own mind. Host has been unconscious for three days while Gods' Magic System was installed and fused to your soul.]

[Please chose a Magic Affinity.]

"Uhh...Hold on a second, Magic Affinity? I am a living vampire though?"

[Gods' Magic System has be gifted to the Host. Therefore Host is not limited by the constraints of your fellow vampires.]

The System's response was lackluster to say the least. But it didn't matter, I had Magic Affinity now and better yet, I got to chose my magic type.
