That afternoon the road was still wet, the rain had just stopped when Devan entered a large house that looked more like a mansion.
He was soaked, his small body walked so weakly with his head bowed. His will to live was gone, his father who suffered from heart disease finally breathed his last this morning.
All the servants shared in the grief, looking at their young master with pity for his misfortune.
How could it not be? While the burial ground of Galih- his father was still wet, Dona- his stepmother had already taken off her mask and taken control of the house.
With her hands on her hips, she stood arrogantly in front of the entrance, blocking the way and said, "Now you are nothing, you damn kid!"
Devan, who initially wanted to hug his stepmother, was confused. "What's wrong with you, mom?"
His limp body became increasingly helpless, Lisa - his stepsister suddenly came from the direction of the house and then pushed his hard until he fell face down.
"Who are you calling mom, eh?! She is my mom!"
Overnight, Devan's life turns upside down after the only family he has ever had leaves him forever.
The woman Galih married when Devan was still 5 years old became a figure he did not recognize at all. How long did the woman act to be a fairy-like stepmother? No wonder, in the last few months when Galih was sick, Dona seemed not to care much and was even busy with her socialite affairs.
The Cinderella story begins. Devan is forced to vacate his room and is forced to sleep in a small room in a row of servants' rooms. He is even given tasks like a servant and his title of young master is forcibly revoked.
Devan was even forced to deny all ownership of his biological father's property. He went to school without a driver or any of his other facilities.
Not enough at home, at school, Lisa who was only one grade above him even spread slander, saying that Galih had a heart attack after Devan admitted to being gay and was in a romantic relationship with one of the intern teachers. Lisa's actions made Devan the target of the entire school.
Everyone is now bullying him, hurting his feelings and even not hesitating to hurt him physically. Devan is unable to fight back, his heart is still fragile from his father's departure forever.
Devan cried bitterly in the bathroom after several seniors surrounded him. They intended to molest him, but his resistance resulted in him being beaten black and blue.
The school seems to not want to intervene in anything that happens to its students. They only intend to make as much money as possible from the bullies who still want their names to be clean without any cases.
Following the corridor, Devan headed to one of the rooms that he often entered secretly without anyone knowing. His steps stopped for a moment then walked faster to throw his body into the arms of Fiki - his apprentice teacher and lover.
"Take me away from this hell, I can't take it anymore."
Devan cried, pouring out the accumulated pain he felt. Fiki's hug at that time was so relieving, he felt dependent on the man.
Only then could Devan breathe a sigh of relief, but not for a few days later. When the news spread on the school website, a blurry photo showed a gay couple hugging in one of the teacher's rooms.
Everyone immediately guessed that the petite man in the student uniform was Devan, but they had no idea who the teacher who was dating his student was.
Devan, who was used to being the subject of gossip, didn't think it was a problem, but Fiki was immediately flustered.
When they finally decided to meet in a city park, without letting Devan sit down first, Fiki had already expressed his decision. "Let's not see each other anymore."
As if struck by lightning in broad daylight, Devan could only freeze with his lips numb until reality slapped him so hard.
"You promised to take me away from this situation," Devan said hoarsely. His tears immediately fell when his hand that was trying to hold Fiki's was pushed away.
"I never promised anything for the abnormal relationship we have. Besides, I'm not stupid enough to risk my future just because of you."
Fiki then left without looking back at Devan who was already crying hysterically.
For a year, then what does it all mean? Is Fiki's feeling only limited to fear of being judged by the public? The man who declared his love when he was just a high school student by giving him a huge bouquet, was it just small talk?
Devan still couldn't understand why everything had turned so cruel to him. In just a short time after his father's departure, bad luck had befallen him one after another.
The end of his despair was something he never imagined in his mind. The night when a big event was held at a hotel. Among Lisa's other guests, something unexpected happened, Fiki came and held hands affectionately with Lisa.
How could betrayal be so obvious right in front of him?
Since when did Lisa and Fiki play behind his back?
Has he only been a supporting actor all this time?
Compared to himself or hundreds of millions of people on earth, why should Lisa be the one who should get such perfect privilege by becoming Fiki's fiancée?
His father died, his stepmother took control of the property, and his stepsister managed to steal his lover. For whatever reason, Devan was not yet 17 when such a complicated problem was presented to him.
Devan wanted to die.
