Unlike Devan's imagination, he has only been to school for a few days, in fact, he already has close friends. He didn't feel bad thoughts about the differences between the new students. He entered grade 11 Science 1 with Fandy as his seatmate. Reno and Rifky who was sitting right behind them also became close friends at this time. Devan is feeling very grateful.
"What do you want to order, let us order it," Rifky asked Devan and Fandy. Rifky, the tallest among the four of them, put his arm around Reno's shoulder.
"I'm fried rice and orange juice, you're Dev?"
"It's the same with you," Devan replied.
"Oke! You guys are looking for a seat, huh!"
Rifky and Reno walked away towards the food booth that they wanted to order, while Devan and Fandy were busy looking at the rows of seats that were mostly filled.
"There is an empty one, Dev."
Fandy gently tugged Devan's arm and eased his footsteps among the many students passing by. They sat down on an empty bench in the corner of the cafeteria. The noise of students scrambling to get the food ordered quickly. The corners of Devan's lips tugged when a feeling of happiness swept over him, the school crowd that he had missed for the past month.
"Hey! Where are you going? Sit down here with us!" said a man among the crowd of students who spoke so loudly that it made Devan's attention turn towards him.
"Hahaa… He looks tense, Nath! Take it, easy guys, we just want to remodel your appearance that looks this tacky."
Devan's forehead is now sharply wrinkled, looking disapprovingly at the words of one of the men who looks condescending to the bespectacled man standing in front of him. Devan became even more furious when the bespectacled man was only able to lower his head without retaliating for the inappropriate actions he had done to him.
"I think we should get rid of your glasses, you look terrible, man!" said another man who was at the same table with an impudent hand throwing the men's glasses which were now the joke of all the students in the cafeteria. Devan immediately pursed his lips, furious.
"What did you see?" asked Fandy when he found Devan stunned at one object.
"Why do they seem to corner the bespectacled man?" Devan asked, pointing to a group of students sitting just a few tables away from him.
"Oh… That's normal, don't worry,' answered Fandy gently stroking Devan's back. Fandy didn't want Devan to get into trouble in his first week of school just because Devan's gaze seemed to be looking at the gang of delinquents with a defiant look.
"It's here!" Rifky and Reno came with the food they ordered earlier. Put it right in front of each and eat it immediately. The three of them looked at Devan who was still in the same position, staring intently at an object without any intention of touching his food. Rifky, Reno, and Fandy looked at each other with a shrug.
"Why don't you eat your food, Dev?" asked Rifky who sat right in front of him. Devan just didn't move without any intention to take his eyes off.
"He seems annoyed with Nathan's actions and the others," answered Fandy representing Devan's silence.
"Why is everyone here just silent? They don't even have any pity, instead, they are busy cheering," asked Devan looking one by one from his friends.
"No one dares, Dev!"
"I'll report it to the teacher then."
Devan's hand was grabbed by Fandy who was sitting beside him. Devan returned to his seat by looking at his friends in disbelief.
"No, Dev! Don't make your days at this school scarier." Now Reno is speaking. His body leaned slightly towards Devan.
"What do you mean," asked Devan with a frown.
"Nathan is the son of the foundation owner with the largest contributor in this school, so even if you report it will be useless. Your report was even considered a passing wind.
"Really? Why is he so powerful?" Devan wonders why in this highly intelligent era, there are still people who use power to oppress others.
"I'll tell you, don't have anything to do with him if you want to study in peace," advised Rifky when he felt he had not received a response from him. Devan was confused, the smallest corner of his heart said to immediately help the bespectacled man, but on the other hand, he didn't want to get into trouble and ended up causing trouble for Mike.
"Where are you going?" Reno asked as Devan stood back up.
"To the toilet," Devan answered a little sensibly.
Devan washed his face which felt hot from holding back his emotions. He regretted to himself now, why he was only silent when the person in front of him was oppressed. Devan gets annoyed when he can't do anything.
"Satisfied looking at me?"
A voice interrupted his thoughts. His gaze turned to the large mirror that displayed the figure of a man with a grin. "What does that man mean? Satisfied looking at it? Could that man be one of the bullies earlier?" Devan thought.
"Damn!" Devan cursed in a low voice.
He had a bad feeling now, he still remembered Reno's words earlier, "Don't bother with them or you'll have a bad day at this school."
"You swear at me? Even after a few days ago, you laughed out loud mocking me, earlier in the cafeteria you looked like you wanted to kill me, and especially now... You dare to swear at me?"
Laughing mockingly? Oh, Devan remembers that, the man he saw at the mall with a matriarch? How come it's a coincidence like this?
"You're mute huh?"
Nathan was pissed off to death. His body drew closer to Devan, pulling his shoulders roughly until they were now facing each other. Nathan's eyes flashed redder when Devan didn't seem to respond to his anger.
Only this time his emphatic words did not affect the petite man who only reached the limit of his chin. He narrowed the distance between them even more and made Devan's hands squeeze the edge of the sink behind him.
"Can you give me a little space?" Said Devan without bothering to look up.
"If I don't want to, then what?"
Nathan is now getting closer to their faces with an eyebrow raised, the devilish grin of the school thugs appeared when Devan started to respond by gritting his teeth in annoyance. Nathan looked more intensely at Devan, intending to further corner the tiny man. Unknowingly, his eyes were now following the falling water droplets that slowly descended through the man's contours and ended up on Devan's luscious lips.
Nathan was silent for a moment, the sight was so erotic in his eyes. His body was instantly hot and cold with a heartbeat that started not working properly. Nathan tried to neutralize his suddenly uncomfortable body condition by tightly clenching his knuckles.
"I'll wait for you to get out of here on your own, I don't mind if you have to wait."
With no fear whatsoever. Devan is now even raising his body and sitting quietly on the edge of the sink.
"Damn! Show me your angry look just now!" Nathan tried to dominate after successfully regaining control of his body. Nathan was very upset now. The boy he imagined would be bowing his head full of fear didn't show any expression. Their gazes are now level with different flashes of eyes
"I don't want to make my day bad because of a trivial matter like this, so forgive me okay?" Devan casually ruffled his slightly wet hair. This action did not escape the sight of Nathan who was cursing himself. Nathan didn't like people to belittle his presence, especially those who intentionally or unintentionally interfered with his life.
"Coward!"
"Whatever you say," Devan replied nonchalantly.
Nathan was getting annoyed with the little boy's behavior. He suddenly lost the idea of just bullying her. Going straight and letting the matter go was certainly not his style, he still didn't see the fear in those sad eyes. The sound of the door opening suddenly caught his eye.
"Come here you little bitch!"
Nathan's hand-coded the bespectacled man to come closer to him. He wanted to vent his frustration on a cute little guy who he thought only made his eyes hurt.
"You're going to be useless too!" Nathan snapped when the summon didn't move. The corner of Nathan's lips smirked as the man seemed to tremble in fear, his hands squeezing each other and the incident did not escape Devan's view.
"Why do you like to bluff so much, anyway?!" Devan was annoyed while showing his side to the bespectacled man.
"Are you okay?" asked Devan while gently stroking the man's back to calm him down.
"Want to be a hero, eh?!" Nathan said in a voice that sounded terrible to the bespectacled man's ears.
It's only been a week since Devan can feel his joy again because he has stepped foot into the school environment, and because of the man with many bracelets around his left arm, Devan feels that his school life will not be as pleasant as last week.
