"Liam! Liam!" Poppy called out to him but he didn't respond. "Thanks a lot for that Colin."
I still wasn't sure what I did wrong. I was trying to stand up for you. Can't you see he—"
"I can speak for myself Colin," she said shouting.
I rubbed my hand against the back of my neck. I could feel a headache coming on. "Fine. Let's go home."
"I can go home by myself. You have done enough today," she glared at me and started walking away.
I called after her. "Poppy, it's already very late and it will be hard for you to get a cab or a bus here. Even if you can, it is not safe for you to be by yourself. Can you just let me take you home? Please?"
She stopped in her tracks and turned around after a moment, stomping angrily to my car and getting inside.
