Chapter 37 - Combat Assessment (2)

" Urk! "

Gavin got kicked in the stomach yet again, causing him to get thrown over. But this time, instead of crunching on the floor, he stood himself up, struggling to even rise from his situation.

I mean, that's what you get from fighting a 3* droid while being 1 tier below. Why was it like that anyway? Didn't Ms. Loi say the droids form depending on our power?

Pulling his arm out, he put it yet again on the floor, causing the same reaction to happen. It went straight ahead of the droid's feet. This time, however, it was ready as it tried to dodge the moving frozen floor, only for it to come home towards where it tried to dodge it.

" Oh? " Ms. Loi exclaims as she looks at how his ability moved through the ground.

Well, it was quite impressive indeed. To believe he could move his ability so freelyIt was quite amusing.

Anyway, Gavin pressed his right arm on the floor again, as fire headed straight towards its other foot, only to fall short as it failed to reach the backed-up foot of the droid.

It seems like it has quite a small range for its capabilities.

But that was just a small setback as it switched its direction, heading straight for the frozen leg.

Crack!

In that instant, the frozen leg just collapsed and disintegrated as it got exposed to the extreme heat that enveloped its foot.

" Ha.... ha... " Still gasping for air, Gavin walks towards the fallen droid as he limps.

He grabs the face of the droid with his right hand, melting its face in that instant.

[ You Win! ]

The prompt says.

"All right, come back, Mr. Gavin. Ms. Winter, you're up next. " Ms. Loi says, still looking indifferent even after Gavin's tough win.

Winter walks towards the arena calmly, like she was heading for a walk, like she had done this a million times already, and she knew it wouldn't even be a difficult fight.

Winter steps into the arena, and immediately after, a droid forms in front of her with the strength of a 4* Hunter.

Seeing the droid in front of her, Winter levitated from the ground as wind started to form in her legs.

Go!

"Ice Meteor," Winter says as soon as the game begins. The droid looked at the floating Winter with a blade in its arms, still stuck on the ground. You'd think it malfunctioned and failed to move properly, but if you look closely, it is currently getting encased and pressured by the wind as it fails to move within the angry winds.

Winter raised her right hand over her head, pointing her palms to the sky. Ice particles started forming in an instant.

In just a second, you could see an entire ice block the size of a phone, indicating how insane of a mage she really is.

Only 3 seconds later, an ice ball the size of an entire boulder floated above her head. The droid still stood on the floor, with no signs of movement thanks to the wind surrounding it.

It was only a matter of time as the droid didn't even look like a proper droid; it was more of a target dummy standing still, waiting for the huge ice block to hit it.

You could even hear the whistling of the wind and the crackling of the ice combining to make quite a terrifying sound. It almost sounded like you were in the middle of an incredibly strong hail storm.

" Die " Winter murmurs as she waves her arm towards the droid. The ice falls with the wave of her hand, as it cracks and submerge the still droid, burying it within the huge debris created by the impact of that attack.

" Holy... " Gavin seemed like he couldn't hold his exclamation with what Winter just made us see. He looked incredibly troubled, probably wondering how he would reach their level of strength with what had just happened.

I mean, even I was shocked despite knowing how strong she already was. Illustrations and writings were just not enough to describe how powerful she is. That attack was comparable to that of a 5* mage already. I mean, she had almost used all of her mana already, but the fact that she could kill a 4* droid instantly was absolutely insane.

" Hmm... I see " Ms. Loi, even with that level of strength, still had an indifferent expression.

How? Was she actually an actor who was forced to treat students indifferently so that it would ignite their competitiveness?

I mean, look at Winter. She realized your expression and she seemed angry. It's like she's about to throw a tantrum or something.

" That was quite strong for your age and level... " Ms. Loi murmurs with the same indifferent face.

Was she actually just another Charlotte? She sounded impressed, but her face stayed the same.

" But that was an absolute mess. "

" Hehehe, I'm sorry miss. My ice made me an absolute me- " Winter stood there quite tired of what she had just done, but her pride comes first as she goes and giggles.

" No, you were an absolute mess."

...

Oh...

"WHAAT?!?" Winter exclaims as she stands up at what Ms. Loi just said.

Well, I guess let's welcome the little demoness...

" This is absurd, Ms. Loi! I killed that droid faster than that twerp who can't even beat a robot, and that was a mess. " Winter started complaining as even Gavin, who didn't say anything, got caught in the crossfire.

" How was that f- mmmm... MMMMM!!! " Ms. Loi raised her hands towards the complaining Winter, and as she did, wind started to form around her mouth, acting as a shield. You could see her speaking and shouting, but you couldn't hear anything except muffling.

" If you had done to the droid's feet, you wouldn't be as tired as you are now. You might be good at control and forming, but your technique was in shambles. Why did you fly if you were going to stop it from moving in the first place? "

As Ms. Loi started to explain, Winter finally calmed down. She couldn't even speak, yet all she was hearing was how she did badly, so she decided to calm down after realizing there was no point. I mean, you were enrolled in this academy to learn, so there's no point in throwing a tantrum.

" You probably ended all your fights this way, just complete brute force, which works most of the time, but when you face someone at your level, you will not only lose, but your life might also be in danger. So with that being said, let's start with our training. "

" Uh... Shouldn't I go as well? " I mean, wasn't I supposed to go fight a droid as well? Why are we not doing anything like that?
