Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 The mark

Lilianna's perspective

"Yes! Thank gosh" I said as I fortunately managed to create a big pillar of water in time.

Splash!

"Ouch… That hurt..." I said; " Had I landed with my back towards the water I probably would've broken my spine." I frowned. My clothes hugged my body due to the water.

Crystal rushed down to me with great speed. "So…" She said excitedly. "How was it?!"

I'm sure my face said I'm so done with you. "A pain in the ass. That's for sure." I replied; "It's a very good creation though. Someone around your rank won't stand a chance."

"I know right? Isn't my master piece lovely?" She said proud of herself. "It managed to hurt someone from mundane stage." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah." I replied; "Get off your high horse. You're not that great."

My comment didn't seem to faze her though. "Oh Please! You couldn't even move an inch when I started the 9 kick-fling." Crystal said. "That has to say something."

"Whatever makes you happy." I said and materialized my sword; "I'm going to change my clothes before I get sick." I shivered. "Damn it's getting cold."

"Hey, wait for me!" Crystal said; "You can't fly on your sword! No fair. I'm not in mundane stage yet."

I sighed. "Stop acting childish." I replied; "Just use your scale and magic control to levitate."

"Oh yeah! I can fly too!" She said, rubbing the back of her head. "I forgot about that."

I shook my head and continued to fly to the castle on my sword. (Yes, you can use magic to make your sword levitate and move around.) "On a serious note though your new move is pretty impressive. I'd say around your rank only libras may stand a chance against it." I said.

"You sure don't seem impressed..." Crystal muttered under her breath. 'Oh damn. Did I accidently use my cold voice again?' I thought. "Well do be careful with water signs though especially cancer. If they master their mental attacks well you might be evenly matched." I said.

Crystal's perspective

I was about to annoy my sister when I spotted something. Something reddish was on her wrist. "What is that?" I murmured and squinted my eyes; "A mark?" I increased the air force around me to catch up to her. "Hey, Lilianna…" I said, grabbing her arms. "Gah! " Lilianna said, slightly losing her balance; "Crystal! Be careful. You almost made me lose my balance." She glared at me so I smiled back. "Sorry, I just wanted to see what was on your wrist." I said and took a good look at her wrist. "What do you mean? There is nothing on-" Lilianna said but then stopped mid-sentence; "My wrist?"

A faint symbol. There was a faint reddish symbol of a fire on her wrist "This is..." I was completely mesmerized by the mark although it hadn't completely formed yet. "It's so pretty...." Then my eyes widened when I realized and I looked at her. "Oh my gosh! You're in love with someone?" I said perplexed; "Hmm... It looks like a fire emblem. Do you already like Prince Malachi or something?" Lilianna pulled her hand back and rubbed the mark. "No! Impossible…" Lilianna replied. "I haven't…" Lilianna strangely stared at the mark. "I haven't fallen in love with him yet."

"Yet?" I asked. I noticed her breathing had become irregular since she saw the emblem on her wrist. "You know Lilianna..." I started; "You sure are acting strange." I pointed to her still subconsciously having her hand on the mark. "You know, about this mark. Are you perhaps blushing?" I continued. "Like your breathing is so irregular and..."

"Ok, enough!" Lilianna suddenly said. "Stop. Just stop taunting me. I don't love him and that's the end of it. I don't want to think about this."

Lilianna suddenly winced. Perhaps because she raised her voice at me. "I think it's pretty though. Imagine when it's done." I said; "I want one too." Lilianna looked at me. "You know that there are big consequences for tattooing one of the four elements on your body. Especially one of the royal family." She said; "Don't stir up unneeded trouble." Right at that moment we arrived home. Lilianna jumped off her sword and dematerialized it.

At that moment a thought came into my mind. "Let's have a sword sparring match, Lil." I said; "Just swords. Mine against yours."

Lilianna laughed sarcastically. "Yes, of course... not." she said; "We already sparred and my body is aching from that invention of yours." I pouted and was about to beg. "No. I said no. I need to get dressed and prepare everything for the trip to the fire kingdom. I will absolutely not enter that castle smelling like a skunk." Lilianna continued. "A skunk?" I asked never having heard of the animal before. "It's a type of animal." Lilianna said; "A type that really, really stinks when they fart..."

"Can I come along too?" I said; "Please." Lilianna shook her head. "I think I'd like to have a break from you." She said. "How could you be so mean to me?" I said. However Lilianna chuckled. "I'm just kidding!" She said, patting and ruffling my hair. "I will come back to let you visit, When it is safe to visit that is." She said. I removed her hand from my hair. "Stop patting my head. I am not a dog." I said; "Besides, what could be so bad about the fire kingdom anyway? I heard it's a nice kingdom. The need for magic control isn't as strong there."

"Yeah perhaps the kingdom is nice and they're less strict concerning magic control indeed. However, the royal family's home is still basically the lion's den." Lilianna said. I looked at her through squinted eyes. "How do you even know that? Have you ever dealt with the royal family?" I asked; "Wait... So you really already know Malachi." I glanced at the mark on her wrist.

"I wouldn't exactly say that." Lilianna replied with a smile "Let's just say... I had my ways to catch a glimpse..."
