Malachi's perspective
The next morning
'I wonder where system went of too.' I thought.. 'Maybe I can call out to her in my mind' I nodded to myself. 'System. System. System!' I yelled in my head. "Hmmm. Shut up! I want to sleep. You're killing my head. Let me sleep! You love sleep too right. Just sleep!" She said.
"I can't, Lily told me something important is coming up. I want to know more info." I said. System hummed. "Oh yeah! Queen Rianna will most likely ask king Marion to have that competition a weak from now as part of your ascension to the throne." She said.
"I thought she hated me." I replied; "Why would she do something like that?"' "Oh, yes. She does hate you. She's planning to use it to kill you while not being guilty. She'll probably announce a hunt for a bear. Or perhaps a lion." She said; "And with your current magic control you'll be done for within less than a second."
"Is it that bad?" I asked. I heard system hum. "You're probably at the first earth stage right now." System loaded everyone's statistics for me. "You see. You're brother is supposed to be one level lower then you. If the previous crown prince got killed. You'll definitely get killed. Your brother would be nine levels higher then you. Your step-mother is much higher then you. Not to mention she has connections to the south earth kingdom. She was the first princess of the southern earth kingdom like your princess consort is the first princess of the air kingdom."
"Well, there is no chance I'll be returning then." I said. "Well perhaps if your black cat and your princess consort participate. You might win." She replied. All my hope however was crushed when she uttered the next sentence. "However queen Rianna is a very smart woman she'll probably have the, unable to participate." System continued. I sighed. "What if we move the date up then." I suggested. "That... Is actually A good idea. Well would you look at that, You actually came up with something big brain." System said.
I groaned. "Please no roasts or sarcasm. I have enough of that from my- I mean Lily." I asked. "Isn't that good? At least she doesn't act all lovey-dovey." System replied. I sighed. "Actually sometimes she does. It's getting annoying." I said. System hummed. "Well sucks to be you. You'll have to put up with more of it and worse since you'll be married."
"Gee, thanks for the comfort." I replied. "I am a system. I don't comfort. And look you're being sarcastic now. Why can't I be sarcastic?" System said.
"because I said so." I replied. "What are you? A king?" System replied back. "Soon to be." I said. "Not if you keep treating your princess consort like you are, you will." System said; "Your whole future depends on her man. Speaking of her you should probably wake her up and go down stairs to stop the queen. "But I have more questions." I protested. "You can ask me later. Or even better" System said; "Ask your princess consort!" I clutched my head from the pain of the loud sound. "Ouch. That hurts." I said.
"Karma sucks." System said.
I stood up and walked over to Lily. "Lily,,," I said softly shaking her. Lily wake up." I heard her murmuring. "No! 5 more minutes. I want to sleep. I couldn't get sleepy because of Malachi." She said.
I frowned. "What does she mean she couldn't sleep because of me?" I murmured; "I don't snore right?" I sighed. 'This girl loves sleeping more than I do.' I thought then went over to her. I shook her again. "Come on Lily. Didn't you say we have something important. I need to ask questions." I said.
Slowly she opened her eyes and yawned. She rubbed her eyes then held her hands up towards me. She gave me an expecting look. "What?" I asked her. "Pull me up." She said. "No. Get up yourself. " I said. She pouted. "Please?" She asked. "Nope." I said and moved away. I heard her sigh and mumble something.
Knock. Knock. Knock. We heard coming from the door. "Come in." I said and the doors opened. "Hello, nice to meet you!" I suddenly heard Lily say cheerfully. The maid I had met on the first day had entered. "Nice to meet you too, your highness." I heard the maid say. "King Marion told me to inform you that he'd be heading out later today so he wanted to have a nice family meal." She said.
"Tsk, a nice family meal. It's anything but that with that family." I murmured. "Ok. thanks for informing us." Lily said; "You can go now. Tell father well be down soon." Not long after we heard the doors close.
She sighed and flowed back down on the bed. "You probably should get back up or you'll fall asleep again." I said. Lilianna hummed.
-Dining table-
Lilianna's point of view
"Lily!" King Marion's voice sounded as I walked in with Malachi; "Come sit! Come sit!" He said; "I'd like to make sure everything is as okay as possible before I leave." I just smiled and elbowed Malachi. "Ouch!" He whispered; "What was that for!" "Say something." I whispered back. "What exactly am I supposed to say?" He countered; "You say something! You're more of a social butterfly then me!" I scowled at his reply. "Fine!"
"Aww, look at them already quarreling like a married couple." King Marion said. "We're not!" We both said. "Ah, see! Even in sync! I will get grandchildren soon." King Marion said probably imagining the grandchildren his heart oh so desired.
"Marion. Speaking of that why don't we hold an event for Malachi's ascension to the throne. We can have him hunt a bear or a lion. Or any strong animal. It could help convince the people support his ascension to the throne. Hunting a magical beast is pretty impressive. I was thinking we could old it after a week." Queen Rianna suggested.
'There it is.' I thought; 'I knew you had something up your sleeve.'
Everyone looked at Rianna. "Michail and his younger siblings were shocked while Malachi and king Marion gave her a suspicious look. "But you know I am leaving for a month. Perhaps it is not the best idea." King Marion said. "But the people are getting a bit restless. If we do this in a week he could get the support of the other nobles." Queen Rianna said.
"There you have a point..." King Marion said, rethinking. "Uh... Perhaps we can wait a month. Wouldn't it seem disrespectful to hold this so soon after Lady Summeria's death. Plus..." I said and trailed off. The queen glared at me. If looks could kill I'd be dead.
"Plus?" King Marion inquired. Although it was a bluff I still felt nervous. "Well if we wait a month we can have more reason to celebrate if... we try for well..." I said and then placed my hand on my stomach. "What are you saying?!" Malachi whisper yelled; "We are absolutely not doing that!" I scowled for a second then put on a smile back. "Shut up! Of course not! It's just a bluff to but time. We could just say we failed." I whispered back.
King Marion took a moment before he realized what I meant. "Oh! he said. His eyes shined brightly like a child receiving a present on Christmas. "Yes, grandkids! Great idea. It's settled we'll do that then. One month it is." King Marion said.
I however felt someone's gaze on me. I looked up and made eye contact with the queen. Her eyes were wild. Her aura was almost suffocating. She looked very unhappy with my suggestion. I just stared back at her with the coldest eyes I could muster. Then I smiled and enjoyed food.
