Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Bedroom

Third person's point of view

Both Lilianna and Malachi were silent as the walked down the hallways. Their muscles were tense, not aware of the black cat following them. Pretty soon however Lilianna picked up on the cat's aura and walked towards it. Malachi and the guard stopped in their tracks.

"Aww, look at you!" She said; "You want to come with us?" The cat meowed, making Lilianna smile. "Okay! You can come with us!" She said. Picking up the cat and petting him. "Okay, let's go!" She said.

-after some time-

"We're here." The guard said. He bowed then left. Lilianna took in a deep breath and opened one of the doors with her free hand. Straight ahead of them a king sized bed proudly stood. To the left there was a table with couches around it. Both looked equally inviting. The cat meowed and made itself comfortable on one of the couches

Seeing the bed Lilianna forgot about the situation she was in. "Oh my gosh! Yes! A bed!" She exclaimed, running towards the bed. "So soft... Comfortable... Like the one in the air kingdom's castle. I could sleep forever." she gaped and grabbed a blanket.

Malachi scowled. "Get off the bed. Go sleep in another room." He said. Lilianna groaned. "No!" She dragged out, shaking her head. "Too lazy. Plus it wouldn't be efficient. You're so weak right now. Killing you would be like snapping a twig for your step-mom."

Lilianna reluctantly sat straight up. "If you want to return to the human world you just need to work with what you have." She said. Malachi looked at her with frowning. The way his brows went down made him look like an angry bird. "Why do I feel like you keep using that as leverage to blackmail me." He replied. Lilianna smiled. "What a nice idea! I should totally do that. Thanks for the insight." She said. Malachi sighed. "At least go take a bath." He said; "Don't dirty the bed."

"Oh! So you plan on sleeping on the bed?" Lilianna asked. Malachi shook his head. "No. I think I'll just sleep on the cough." He said pointing to the cough. "Well, then the bed shouldn't matter to you. You're not sleeping in it anyway." Lilianna replied and gaped again; "I'm so tired from traveling. I'm gonna sleep."

"No!" Malachi said. Lilianna lifted her eyebrows. Malachi coughed. "The wind. You can smell scents when the wind blows. I don't want the smell of roses to be tainted. Plus we can take turn sleeping on the bed. You can sleep on the cough tomorrow." Malachi said.

"Tsk, I might have said yes if you hadn't indirectly insulted me." Lilianna replied; "No way am I sleeping on the couch. Either you sleep on the same bed as me or you remove me from the bed."

As Lilianna was about to push herself up from the bed she felt something underneath her hand. It was a set of clothes. If it could even be called that. They had not noticed it before as they had been busy bickering. Lilianna frowned her brows and picked it up. "What is this?" She said, holding a piece of the clothing. Then her eyes widened. A see through nightdress.

Malachi coughed when he could see her through the fabric. "You're not gonna wear that, are you?" He asked. Lilianna tilted her head and lowered the clothing. "I don't know. Should I?" She said. She then placed the gown down and picked up the black underwear to inspect it. "Man, your old man sure wants grandchildren soon." Lilianna said as she held up the clothing that barely could be called so.

Malachi facepalmed. "You know what? I'm not sleeping in this room tonight." He said.

"Sure. You could go sleep outside too." Lilianna said sarcastically; "You can have a nice camping trip with the guards while you're at it." Lilianna stood up with the clothes and sighed. "Of course, I'm not gonna sleep in this." She continued and rolled her eyes. "The AC is on. If I wear thin clothing I'll be suffering from the coldness all night."

Lilianna walked closer too Malachi. "What are you doing?" he asked; "Don't go too far, Lily." Lilianna smiled then gaped. "I'm just heading towards your closet, Malachi" She answered; "What is it? Do you actually want me to wear this?" Malachi shook his head. "No." He said. "Good. Now be a dear and run a bath for me will you? In the mean time I'll search for something to wear." Lilianna said, walking past him to the walk-in closet. She placed the clothing down on the free space next to where the mirror stood. "Now. What to wear... Something comfy that will keep me warm..." She said, searching the closet for something that looked comfortable for sleeping."

Lilianna came out with a hoody and sweatpants. Her eyes searched for Malachi. She spotted him on the couch, playing with fire in his hand. She walked over to him. "Malachi!" She cheerfully called his name. He flinched. "Gah!" He exclaimed. Losing control of his element he accidentally burned his fingers. "Ouch!" He flicked his hand and sucked on it. "You scared me!" He sounded, muffled.

Lilianna placed her free hand to her mouth, laughing. "Man! A fire mage being hurt by his very own fire." She said; "You're far worse than I thought. Without me here you'd be dead faster than the actual crown prince Malachi. No wonder I needed to sign that contract." Lilianna took Malachi's hand and used her magic to transform the air around Malachi's hand to turn to ice. Malachi flinched at the sudden coldness. "And you wanted to sleep elsewhere with this little magic control?." Lilianna said, shaking her head; "I'm going to take a bath. Go search for something to wear. Take a bath after I'm done with mine."

Lilianna's perspective

I entered the bathroom and placed down the clothing on the counter table. "I have no choice but to wear this black underwear." I murmured. "It's okay though. I'll just wear the hoody over it." As I looked down I noticed the mark on my wrist had gotten brighter. It looked more and more like a carnation. A carnation surrounded by flames that is. I mesmerizingly reached out to it and touched it. "So... beautiful.." I said then gave a sad smile. "Sadly mine will never appear on him..."

Then I felt something wet on my feet. I looked down to see water and noticed the sound of water running. "Dammit! He could've told me that he hadn't closed the tap." I cursed under my breath; "I'll scold him for this! I'll scold him well!" I walked towards the bath tub and closed the tap.

I relaxed in the bath. It had been forever since I could sink into water like this. I would've stayed longer if Malachi hadn't taken a bath yet... I sighed and took the towel.

I then realized something. "Oh no..."
