Chapter 1 - : Prologue

"My Lord, please, you can't do this to the children! They're still too young to be put on this kind of mission!"

"I already knew that, Rhaegal. Nonetheless, a rule is a rule. I cannot just announce to our people about their existence… you know what will happen if anyone other than us finds out about them. They are special beings to us. We need them, and right now, they need us."

"I know… I know… but please, please… reconsider this, my Lord. There are 20 Royal Bloods here. I know we can manage it if-!"

"STOP! My decision is final! This is also a hard decision for me, but if we take them too lightly, we might also endanger our whole kingdom! They're genius creatures. And geniuses don't stop once they want something."

"But-"

"That's about enough. As you mentioned, there will ONLY be 20 of you and triple the number of ghouls you'll be fighting. The children will have to come with you whether you like it or not. You'll be taking off tonight, have your weapons ready. Dismiss."

"My lord-!"

Take care, my dear brethren. The future rests upon your hands…

In a small hidden village, there lives the innocent 10 years old, Azaria Haven with her parents.

She ran towards her mother after watching the daily news about vampires that's been arising for a few days now.

"Mother! Mother! Vampires are on the news again!"

"I can hear you fine and clear, Haven, you don't need to shout." her mother calmly uttered as she neatly folded the mountain of clothes one after another.

Haven sat beside her mother and helped her fold the clothes.

"Do vampires really exist?" The innocent girl curiously asked her mother.

"Maybe yes, maybe no. We won't know, no one had really seen one with legitimate evidence. They might be peacefully living somewhere else... on a different planet or a whole different universe." Her mother answered.

Haven looked at the TV not far from her and asked, "Then are they good... or bad?

Her mother paused a little and continued folding the cloth in her hands, "Haven, remember this. In every living creature, there is good and there are also bad. Light and darkness are what brings balance to the world." she smiled and turned to her daughter just to see her looking somewhere else.

"If so, why are they eating humans then..." Haven whispered. Her mother was stunned for a second upon hearing what she said.

"What are y–" She was cut off when Haven suddenly raised her arm and pointed somewhere.

She slowly looked to where her daughter was pointing at. It was the TV. Her eyes widened and she couldn't believe what she was seeing... it's a live stream of a group of red-eyed-looking people with fangs covered with blood and eating human flesh.

It immediately sent a shiver down her spine and out of panic as the door harshly opened– she horridly carried her daughter and tried to run when someone suddenly stopped her. She jolted and was about to kick whoever it was...

"Calm down, Azel! It's me, honey..." She quickly recognized the voice of the man, it was her husband.

"Harian..." she uttered his name. She blew a heavy sigh of relief.

"Why are you here?" Azel asked her husband. At this time, he should still be working on their farm.

Her husband suddenly felt uneasy. He took his daughter and put her in their mini basement. "Stay in there for the meantime. Never come out even if you hear anything outside. Wait for us, alright?" Haven can clearly see fear in his father's eyes. And the word 'wait for them' felt so empty. She didn't respond, she just silently stared at them.

"Be a good girl." Her father said and locked her in the basement all alone. "What's happening, Harian?" she heard her mother ask.

"They're real, and they're here." her father said. That's the last thing she heard from them, the next thing she heard was some metals and steel that sounded like knives and axes that his father uses for wood cutting. A few minutes later, she heard their door opening and closing. After that, everything went silent.

She just stood there, looking at the door, patiently waiting.

Another few minutes passed by and she's starting to hear weird noises. It's not coming inside their house, it's coming from the outside.

The noises became clearer and clearer. It's a mixture of loud cries of terror, loud screams of pain, and loud bangs that sounded like something is being destroyed.

Haven felt unsettled. She looked around and saw a set of his father's broken equipment. She took the scythe with a broken handle and without a second thought, she destroyed the wooden door that was locking her inside.

After getting out, she took a peek outside from their window. Her eyes widened upon seeing so many bodies lying on the ground covered in blood. She felt concerned more than scared.

She looked around and saw what she was looking for.

Her father was being choked by a man that looked the same as the one she saw on TV earlier. It has red eyes and sharp bloody fangs.

For a young girl, she doesn't seem to be intimidated at all. She rushed outside and went towards her father. As she was closing to them, she saw blood dripping from her father.

She couldn't think straight, a sudden strike of anger emerged inside her, and unconsciously, she jumped toward the man choking her father. She used the man's shoulder for support and while she was still in the air, she took that chance to quickly cut off his head and landed on the ground holding the corpse of the man on his collar.

"H-haven!" Her father looked astounded, but Haven's eyes went to the woman lying beside her father soaking in its own blood. She quickly recognized her.

'Mother...'

Her emotion mixed up and the world around her seemed like it was in slow motion. She's just looking at her parents as they slowly fade away from her vision and gradually being surrounded by darkness. Her father seemed like he was saying something to her but she couldn't hear a single thing. Her eyes scanned the whole place, everything was covered with blood and the dead bodies of the villagers.

Then her eyes switched to the vampires who wreaked havoc from all over the place. They're also looking at her, with her hands holding a headless vampire, they all went silent, waiting for any movement from the girl.

With emotionless eyes and a cold voice⎯ enough to make someone shiver in fear- she spoke, "You're wrong mother, they're neither good nor bad... They're devils."

She gripped hard on the scythe she was holding and started running towards the vampire closest to her, "And devils are bound to be thrown into the deepest depths of hell.''

She jumped off to that man and cut his head off and went straight to another, and to another, and to another⎯ without wasting any amount of time until she was now being attacked by so many vampires biting her. Despite that, she kept swinging the scythe.

Her hands started to weaken, and so is her strokes. It's not even affecting the vampires anymore.

Her sight started to get blurry, and not far from her, she saw both her parents already lying on the ground being feasted on by vampires. She wanted to run towards them and kill all those hideous monsters but she couldn't even move anymore and protect herself.

Her small body couldn't take it anymore, she was losing a large amount of blood, therefore, she fell to the ground, half-dead.

Just like her eyes, they're just staring at her emotionlessly. Despite having such astonishing scarlet eyes, they gave off a dead look, however, it looked as if they were saying something. Unfortunately, the innocent heart of Haven was engulfed by anger.

Even with her poor state, she forced herself to speak, "C-curse you... to h-hell..." she vowed, and with every inch of strength left in her, she stabbed the scythe in her heart refusing to die by their kind. With that, she breathed her last air on earth as a human being.

Not far from them is a young man that accidentally heard and saw the scene that took place in that small village. His nausea completely disappeared after seeing Haven fight the ghouls. She's so small, she doesn't look trained, but her fast movements and the way she cut off their heads were so straight ahead as if she was naturally born to kill them.

Just that it seemed like she or maybe them- misunderstood one thing, the ones attacking them are ghouls, and, "Vampires are definitely not devils! If you only knew..." he mumbled to himself.

When he saw the ghouls about to feast on Haven, he quickly teleported towards her and killed each and every ghoul that was lurking in the village in just a few seconds using his magic― fire.

She looked at Haven, she was already dead but her soul is still inside her body. He then looked at the scythe that was struck at her heart. A black scythe covered with blood…

Unconsciously, he put the scythe on fire and then sealed it with a drop of his blood. The scythe turned into a bloody magma and went straight to her body as if it had a life of its own. After a few seconds, her wounds, bites, and cuts slowly healed.

Then he snapped back to reality, he realized what he had just done…

He made the very first half-blood vampire.

"Shit. I'm doomed…"
