Haven's POV
"AHHHHHHHH!!!
I-it hurts…
Something's burning inside me…
I woke up in so much pain, I felt like throwing up, and my sight was spinning… Mother... Father...
"AHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"Haven!"
A very warm hands suddenly wrapped around my body.
A few seconds later, the pain slowly disappears.
"Are you okay?" A familiar voice of a woman asked.
I looked at who it was. "Mrs. Tasha." She's from our neighborhood.
I looked around. This isn't our house, neither is the dress I'm wearing.
I feel weird… my body feels heavy, and my hair is longer than the last time I saw it…
What happened?
My head hurts…
Blurry images suddenly appeared in my head.
It hurts… I held my head tightly as if it was about to explode
"Haven… Haven, what's wrong?"
"AHHHHHHHH!!! B-BLOOD! Blood is all over the place! T-they killed them! They killed my parents! They killed the villagers! They destroyed our village! AHHHHHHHHH! Mother! Mother, I'm scared! They-!" the warm hands wrapped around me again… It felt like mom's…
"Mother…"
"Shhhhhh. Calm down, Haven. You're safe. There's no blood, there's no 'them'."
She kept saying 'You're fine, you're safe' until I finally calmed down.
"What happened to me? Where're my parents?" I asked. She let me go and faced me.
I just noticed that she looks much older than she usually looked and her face looks so calm, but her eyes showed resentment and longing. Why?
She took a deep sigh before answering me, "This might be hard for you now but I want you to carefully listen to me." She looked straight into my eyes with a serious face, "Both your parents are dead… and you've been in a coma for 5 whole years."
I was stunned.
"Y-you gotta be kidding me…"
"I'm not. They're killed by your kind." I can sense anger in her voice…
"What are you saying?" I confusedly asked. Those vampires killed them!
"Look at yourself in the mirror." She said and pointed to the mirror beside us.
I just followed what she said and walked toward the mirror.
My world almost collapsed after seeing myself in the mirror.
"This is a dream…" I whispered, "This has to be a dream!" I burst out.
Mrs. Tasha stood beside me. "This is reality. You're a vampire, Haven." She uttered and with that, she slashed me.
***
I thought I was going to die! Mrs. Tasha just cut a little on my wrist to prove to me that it's real, goodness, she could have at least warned me first.
But I still couldn't believe it… shortly after she cut me, it healed… What's more unbelievable is my appearance, aside from anything else that I don't want to think about for now─ I look older! I mean, the last time I saw myself in the mirror was when I still looked like a kid, so small and so thin… I never imagined myself looking like a 15 y/o lady the next time I see the mirror! Nah- I mean, just that… it's not really that lady-like…
I looked at my chest and tightly closed my eyes after.
Forget it…
We're here in the kitchen, she said she'll tell me everything that happened after I passed out that night.
"Just sit anywhere. I'll cook something for us to eat first." I just nodded and sat at the nearest chair.
I saw cups and a water pitcher on the table. I've been feeling thirsty since I woke up… Mrs. Tasha seems busy so I just poured a cup of water for myself.
It smelled weird- wait since when did the water have a smell? Probably just my imagination. I sipped on it just to vomit it out swiftly. Mrs. Tasha immediately rushed toward me.
"What happened?" She asked with full of concern.
"The water… it tastes disgusting," I answered.
She smelled it before taking a sip. Her reaction didn't change. "It still tasted just as water should be."
"But-" I paused after realizing the reason…
"I'm no human being anymore…" I whispered. Mrs. Tasha seemed like she just realized it too.
"That… makes sense." she gave a nervous-awkward laugh and that was a slap in my face.
"O-oh no, no, I'm not thinking of eating you or something like that…" I quickly defend.
She chuckled and stood properly with her arms akimbo "What should you eat then?" she asked, slightly teasing me with her narrowing eyes.
I looked away, "I'm not really hungry or anything… I can manage." I lied. I'm seriously hungry, but not so hungry and it's not actually hungry- more like… thirsty? Urghh! "You go take care of what you're cooking, it's burning," I informed, dodging the topic.
"Oh right!" She hurriedly took care of it. I smiled, she really resembles my mother.
It's not yet burning, it's just about to get burned― and how did I know that?

After she ate, she took me outside for a walk.
A lot of things have changed. The village looked more civilized, with fewer farms, and fewer trees. And the faces of people have changed. No more genuine warm smiles, everything just looks so fake. The villagers don't look at each other's faces anymore, they're all stuck staring at their phones…
The only thing that didn't change was the nature's fresh breeze that welcomes me whenever I went out.
"Five years ago, vampires suddenly attacked the village. I remembered your father knocking on each and every house telling the villagers to hide the kids and get ready for a battle. He really is a nice guy… everyone fought back with all our might despite the big difference between our strength and theirs." she gave a bittersweet smile, "Unfortunately, a lot of us died… including my whole family." She looked at the sky, her face clearly showing melancholy.
"I was also about to get killed by one of the vampires, but then you suddenly showed up and bravely killed the vampire who was choking your father, all the vampire's attention went to you. I was saved. However, it resulted in you being endangered, they started attacking you. I wanted to save you so badly but I was too agitated." That's to be expected. I didn't have any violent reaction, I just quietly listened to her.
She stopped walking, I looked at her, she was looking around the place, and so I did. This is where my parents were killed and were supposedly where my death bed would have also been.
"This is where your bravery took place. When you stab the scythe you are holding to yourself, the vampires were about to feast on you but then a young man unexpectedly appeared right in front of you and suddenly, all the vampires were set on fire and instantly turned into ash. I was still trying to figure out where that fire came from until I saw that young man moving his hands in front of you and then the scythe suddenly turned into fire, the next thing he did was…" she faced me with a serious look, "He poured blood from his hands on it, and as if the fire has a life of its own, it moved and entered your body."
That was odd.
Who is he? What is he? Did he save the villagers? Did he save me? Why would he? AH MOU!
"He… is he a vampire?" I asked, trying to calm myself. I'm frustrated… I'm confused…
"Probably, and what he did must be the reason why you turned into one."
"Why would he?!" I burst out. That's gotta be a joke! A vampire killing a vampire and then saving humans? That's just ridiculous!
"I don't know, Haven. He disappeared right after that." He left just like that? Strange. What is he trying to do to me?
"I came towards you. I'm sure you're full of wounds and scars from fighting against vampires and I'm certain you'll be dead by then, but when I saw you, you didn't have a single scar, the cut from stabbing yourself was gone, and the most strange was, you were normally breathing. I can't understand what was happening, I just took you to my house to look after you. The next night, someone appeared in the sky. He has silver hair and his clothes are pure white, he looked like an angel. Then suddenly the whole place was enveloped by a blinding light. And the very next day, everyone's memories were altered. The news and our memories are all about a deadly storm that came crashing on Earth, killing almost 30% of human beings. It's weird, it just doesn't add up, but if it's our memory that says that was what happened, then we just gotta believe in it."
She blew another heavy sigh and looked straight into my eyes.
"Until I saw you laying in my daughter's room. I remembered taking you but I couldn't remember why. I checked your pulse, it wasn't beating, but then I felt your breathing. I hurriedly checked you up thinking that you're on the verge of death, I panicked 'cause you're so pale and your body is freezing cold!" She softly laughed, probably remembering that moment. It wasn't hard imagining it. I saw myself earlier, I still look so pale, and the fact that I don't feel a single heat coming inside my body proves just how cold my body is right at this moment.
"I tried doing what I see on medical dramas. I didn't give much thought to your bloody red eyes when I saw them, thinking that it must have been caused by some kind of disease or something like that then I looked up to your mouth and saw two sharp fangs… it triggered my memories and everything came back to me."

Somewhere, in the land of witches, a prophecy was seen.
"Haraigha! Pull back our allegiance to the vampire clan, send the same message to each clan's highest leaders."
"I beg your pardon, my Queen, but why the sudden change of mind?"
"A catastrophe has befallen the realm of vampires. In the form of a living, hell has been awakened."
