Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

"So it's cleared, You will meet up with them tomorrow during lunch break." Simon confirmed something in his phone.

"What about the event in the casino? It's in two weeks." The Beta inquired further.

"It will go as arranged, with a slight change to security measures. I'll have my secretary informed about it." Arien was lost for a moment in his thoughts only to hear Simon blurring out.

"What's with that niece stunt you are pulling right now?"

"What?" Arien was taken aback by his blunt question.

"You are taking her everywhere, she is going to work in this hotel. I mean she is a beauty no doubt, but it's kind of odd. I know you Arien, I remember what happened before and how broken you were."

"That's different." – Arien stood up and walked to the window viewing the busy street below. - "You haven't seen her fighting with a deer in the forest, all covered in blood, or when she was standing her ground against the whole city of haters. She is strong. She is beautiful. She's perfect." - Arien turned around and rubbed the bridge of his nose. - "I'll go easy on her. No forcing. She will come to me on her own account."

Arien smiled thinking about Opal made his heart warm.

"She's not aware of what you want from her and honestly she is your niece. Arien, that's sick. Do not walk this same path again." Simon looked at Arien's displeased countenance.

"You know nothing, she likes me. She is so different, so fresh. - For a moment Simon saw a shy smile on Arien's face. - "Yesterday she was sniffing at my gland, cuddling with me on the sofa, it was so …. intimate Simon. You will see, it is something different. I'm sure of it."

"I think you live in your own world." – Simon raised himself before Arien grabbed the collar of his shirt.

"Don't judge me, you know nothing." His eyes were full of anger and his jaws were clenched. Simon could feel his distress."Don't I have the right to be happy?"

"OK Arien, you know me. I always tell you the truth and I do hope you will find your happiness and so will she."Simon decided to buck off.

Arien was pissed. The mighty Alpha didn't like when they had different opinions about something important to him. Simon was probably the only one person in the pack who was able to speak straight from his heart with Arien. But even he had his limits.

Arien smoothed any wrinkles from his elegant suit and moved to the door.

"We will go as planned, remember to inform Jonathan Harper about the meeting."

Simon nodded and Arien left the Beta's office.

Opal was with Melody. She looked very focused on something Melody was showing her on the computer. Arien for a moment observed them. Opal looked so good in his clothes. He still remembered that tiny black dress she wore for their dinner. She looked so sexy in it, that he felt jealous. He knew his own thoughts and could only imagine how others perceived her. Nobody can see her like that, that view was for him, for him only. Simon pissed him but he was right. Arien mustn't repeat old mistakes. Opal was precious, he won't fuck this up. She is already here, lives with him and obeys his rules. Within a year she won't be able to live without him. Time is all he needed to make it happen.

"So my beautiful ladies, I see you are already at your work." Arien decided to make his presence noticeable.

"Yes sir, Opal is a quick learner, I think we will be just fine working here together." Melody was all smiles.

"Oh thank you, that's so nice." - Opal felt touched. Melody seemed nice. - "With your help I'm sure to learn everything." She praised her back.

"It is set then, you will start tomorrow at nine, I will give you a one month internship and then we will make the decision about whether it is right for you or not."

Opal was excited, working in a big hotel that was something. Uncle even promised her to go gambling. This was such a new experience. She has never seen anything like that. The people were nice too. Opal liked Melody. Well for now, she wasn't that naive. Her uncle was the big boss here so they were all nice to her. Still it felt so fucking great to be praised and welcomed. That was such a change to Grayshill. She didn't miss that place. Maybe she missed Jayden a little bit. Avery small part of her Omega kept thinking about her Mate. Time and distance heals everything. She will forget that asshole.

The ride back home went quick. Back in the apartment Opal took a shower and changed into her old T – shirt and shorts. She was in the kitchen preparing them something to eat. Arien was sitting on the sofa and reading some documents, throwing glances at her from time to time.

"Your face is beaming with joy Opal" he remarked loudly with satisfaction. "Have I made you happy?"

"You did uncle, and I will do my best so you won't regret taking me under your wings." She was grinning genuinely chopping some vegetables.

"I won't, no worries. I'm really glad you are here with me. Now I don't feel so lonely."Opal was touched by what he said. She decided to ask him something that was bothering her for a while.

"Arien, who is Jina?"

Arien's face stiffened. He raised her eyes at her.

"Who told you about Jina?" there was coldness in his voice.

"I wasn't told anything, I just heard some women mentioning her name and yours as I was in the toilet." She gave him an honest answer as she noticed how uneasy he became.

"Jina is the name of my twin sister."

"I have an aunt?" Opal almost dropped the kitchen knife.

"You had. She is dead. She has committed a suicide."
