Chapter 33 - Chapter 33

It was the day of the party at the casino. Opal had her hair made as well as makeup. For the first time in her life she had soft curls and it looked fantastic. Wearing that dream dress she felt like a superstar. Arien's earrings sparkled nicely matching her silver bag and shoes. She went downstairs and waited for uncle. She couldn't stop smiling. It's a pity Jayedn couldn't see her now, he would have regretted his decision. Opal went to the kitchen, following uncle's advice she took suppressants as there were supposed to be many Alphas at the event. She jut finished drinking water when she saw Arien going down the stairs clad in white matching her outfit. He stopped for a brief moment as he noticed her, smiled and moved forward.

"You look astonishing." He complimented her.

"So do you. I'm sure many Omegas will go crazy when they see you."

"I need only one." Arien placed her hand on his arm and they left for the party.

The interior of the casino looked amazing with tables decorated in white with fresh flowers and much dimmed light. Arien tended to his workers making his last checks. Opal walked freely looking around. She was supposed to greet everyone with uncle and than stroll making important contacts to improve the pack's situation and add to prosperity of Arien's casino. The food looked delicious, many small starters, snacks, sweets and a huge pyramid made of glasses ready to be filled with champagne.

"Pretty impressive." – Opal heard from behind her. She turned around only to face the infamous Mr. Harper.

"It is sir. Uncle put a lot of effort into this." - She answered forcing herself to remain polite.

"I meant your appearance." He giggled.

"Me too." Opal remained indifferent. "After all he picked my dress and accessories as well."

Johnathan was still for a moment.

"You sure know how to talk back. A little Omega, so fragile, so innocent so … helpless." With every word that has left his mouth, his eyes became colder.

"That's why I look so pretty to make sure there is always a strong Alpha to protect me." She fluttered her lashes giving him the stupid slut look.

"And who is going to protect you?" Johnathan leaned towards her probably to make her feel a bit intimidated.

"Johnathan, nice to see you." Their conversation was broken by Arien's cropping out from behind. He came directly to Opal and put his arm around her waist. Which was a bit awkward for Opal but she didn't oppose to it. Instead she smiled and placed her hand on Arien's arm.

"I'm glad you are back uncle. I felt lonely here without you." She pouted a bit only to see how Mr. Harper clenches his teeth. Opal could feel how pissed Johnathan was.

Arien stroke her back looking at her face.

"You know how to tease me." He was whispering to her ear. It somehow made her feel strangely inappropriate.

"Excuse us, we need to greet some guests." Ariel led her in the direction of a middle aged man with glasses and a younger woman in purple dress, leaving a dumbfounded Johnathan behind.

"Congressman Aston, Mrs Aston it's a pleasure to see you." Arien was a smooth talker making the whole conversation. Opal was just standing there looking pretty. The whole greeting thing was boring as fuck. She was noticed, complemented and watched or even gazed at, as if she was an ornament. She wasn't asked any questions, she was just standing like an obedient Omega next to a mighty Alpha. She felt discomfort that evolved into displeasure and was now close to anger. She needed some air, bit of space a change of company, somebody she could talk to. She noticed Melody.

"Uncle, will you excuse me I want to greet a colleague." She looked in the direction of familiar Beta and Arien followed her sight.

"Of course. Enjoy yourself." He added letting her go.

Opal instantly felt better leaving the company of the VIP guests.

"Oh my god Opal, you look fabulous." She was greeted by Melody.

"So do you. That emerald dress suits you." Opal replied wanting to return the compliment and because Melody really looked well.

"Let's grab a drink." Opal suggested.

They headed for the bar and without hesitation she ordered whiskey. Melody decided to drink a sweet cocktail.

The whole casino was filled with people, half of them were already introduced to Opal.

"Shall we do some gambling?" Melody suggested.

Opal gulped the whole whiskey down and nodded eagerly. They approached the closest roulette table.

"Do you know how to play?" Melody asked.

"You bet the numbers or colors, right?" Arien told her a little about gambling rules.

"Well I guess that's enough to know." Melody picked out a few chips she received as a hotel worker for today's evening and handed Opal a half. Opal placed one on the black color, she was about to play safe. Melody liked the risk so she picked a number. Opal was betting small but she won wile Melody wasn't that lucky. They bet a few more times and with excitement watched the little ball spinning round.

A man next to Opal kept looking at her for a while, to finally make a remark.

"If you want to play higher bets I am at your disposal." The man was in his early thirties and looked handsome. He wasn't an Alpha and Opal decided to have some fun.

"I wouldn't dare but I hope to bring you luck sir ." She sent him a bright smile.

"How should I bet? A split bet perhaps?" he smiled nicely at both of them. The three of them made a few bets with changing luck. Andrew, that was the man's name, turned out a really good companion. Time was flying fast and Opal was fully engaged in their discussion with Andrew and Melody when a security guy approached her.

"Miss Opal your uncle needs your presence for a moment."

Opal excused herself and followed the man. After a while Melody noticed Arien strolling along tables and looking around. As soon as he saw Melody he came to her table.

'Have you seen Opal?" He asked.
