Chapter 29 - WHO SAID I BOUGHT THESE FOR YOU?

Raine didn't even get the chance to think nor to react, not that Jedrek even gave her the chance to. Before she realized what was happening, Jedrek was already dragging her away from the shop and the old lady was grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat and telling them to make sure to come again.

Raine let out a scowl on hearing the old lady's words. There was no way she was going to let herself get cheated for the second time and that too from the same old and cunning lady. Raine found the old lady to be quite shameless. She didn't spare them the act of cheating them and now she was telling them to come again?

Raine frowned, she had never seen such a degree of shamelessness in her entire life before.

As Jedrek continued leading her out of the small night market, she wanted to voice out her complaints but seeing the place crowded and filled with people, she could only reluctantly swallow back her words and wait till they got to the car.

When they got to the car, Jedrek helped her in and carefully buckled her seatbelt but instead of Raine's usual small word of thanks, she scowled at him in annoyance instead. Jedrek ignored her with a small yet mocking laugh then got into the car through the other side.

He was about to start the car when he heard Raine scowl again. This time, he could no longer ignore her and so he let out a pitiful sigh and turned to her, "You are this angry over a few dolls?"

At his question, Raine slowly turned to him without a word. Her actions screamed anger and her arms were firmly crossed across her chest in an angry posture, even her looks towards him were indifferent.

She then stared at the plastic bags which contained the keychains and huffed angrily, "I only asked for one keychain, then why did you go as far as to waste money to buy six of them and that too of a very high price, huh?"

Jedrek didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He had spent his own money buying these keychains for her but yet he was being reprimanded by a certain blonde petite girl for spending too much?

He slowly pinched the space between his brows and asked in a low but calm tone, "Is there anything wrong with it?"

"Of course yes," Raine turned to him fully and gave him that look of a mother reprimanding her child for doing something wrong. "Couldn't you see that the old lady was just trying to rob you of your money like you're some sort of bank?"

"So?" Jedrek arched a brow at her and Raine's eyes dimmed. She felt like she was talking to a wall instead of a grown-up and sensible man.

Raine sighed deeply, trying so much to cool the anger bubbling up within her. "I only wanted the pink kitten but you bought five more. What am I going to do with all these, huh?"

Jedrek let out a short laugh at her question. He raised a brow teasingly at her, "Who said I bought all these for you?" he asked and the corner of his lips tugged up.

Raine paused in shock with her mouth slightly agape. All her complaints from earlier had been completely dispelled as many questions came flooding into her head.

He said he didn't buy them for her so does it mean he bought them for someone else, possibly another girl? Her mind flashed back to the lady in red which she met just a while ago. Her actions and her words sounded intimate. Moreover, Jedrek had said that they grew up together so certainly they were close. Could it be that he bought these for the girl? But thinking back to Asra's style and temperament, she wouldn't be the type to fancy such small accessories.

Then maybe he might have bought them for his sister. But she discarded that thought out of her head the moment it came in. Judging from Skye's personality, if he had a sister then he would have told her by now. But he didn't make mention of anything like that, only saying there was another brother which she hasn't met yet, meaning that they didn't have a sister, then who could it possibly be?
