Raine gasped softly when she felt his hot breath on her ears. What shocked her most was the fact that he knew the question that was revolving in her head.
She ignored how close they were and stared at him with widened eyes instead. "How did..."
"Just a simple guess Raine," Jedrek shrugged nonchalantly, "I can tell every question in your head just by the scenario."
Raine's widened gaze on him remained unwavering. Why does it feel like he knew everything about her just after a short while of knowing him? He knew her allergies, he knew she was a neat freak and now he could even guess her thoughts? Why does she feel that he had known her for a long while instead?
She was still lost in thoughts when an old lady walked past them and hissed as she muttered just loud enough for the both of them to hear, "Tsk, kids these days. Always showing their affection in public places and now they couldn't even spare oldies like us."
As Raine heard her words, she then realized that they were in a market. Jedrek's head was close to hers and from any angle, anyone would think that they were kissing. She quickly withdrew her head and shifted backwards, slowly muttering some words of apology with reddened cheeks.
Jedrek let out a short laugh and then shook his head and then continued dragging her into the market.
Moments later, he finally pulled her in front of a small shop that sold some girl's accessories and small gifs. Raine was beyond elated when she realized that he had taken note of her small interest.
"You wanted something from here right?" he took a small peep at her and watched her nod quietly.
Just his voice alone made many heads turn towards them but Raine ignored their looks and squeals and let out a small smile of satisfaction.
"I want that," her small fingers pointed at a small pink kitten key chain with tiny pearls decorated around it and a small strawberry design between its paws.
Jedrek nodded at her and was about to get it when Raine abruptly stopped him. She knew this was probably his first time in a market like this so she didn't want to stress him any further.
Raine nodded at him, silently informing him to leave things to her and Jedrek complied. He watched as she quickly went up to the owner of the shop to inquire about the small kitten key chain.
"Good evening ma'am," she greeted softly with a light tone, "How much is the kitten key chain over there?"
The owner of the shop was an old lady in her fifties. She hadn't noticed Jedrek and Raine earlier because she had her back facing them the whole time but as soon as she heard Raine's voice she immediately turned. She caught glimpse of Raine who was smiling at her politely. She scanned Raine from head to toe and seeing that Raine was blonde she was stunned for a moment.
"Blonde? You are not a local right?" the old lady asked, still scanning Raine from head to toe. Raine looked Asian but the intrusion of blonde hair made the woman curious.
Raine's smile froze on hearing the woman's question. The issue of the color of her hair has always been a sensitive topic to her. This was because many Asians believe that blonde hair particularly belonged to people from Western areas. Raine having blonde hair was a subject if she was a mixed race or not but that question was something she had always tried to avoid.
She masked her discomfort with a small smile and nodded at the old lady, "I am a local ma'am. My hair is just dyed."
The old lady stared at her for a while as if trying to find a lie in her statement but later nodded and let out an awkward laugh. "Ohh! Kids these days. Really mischievous beings."
As she said that, her gaze traveled from Raine and finally landed on Jedrek. He just stood there unperturbed with his hands in his pants pocket without saying a word or an expression on his face but his looks alone could make anyone tell that he wasn't someone ordinary.
His aura could draw people to him. His tall presence made him stand out amongst the crowd and just by standing there doing nothing, he had already caused an uproar in people's heads.
