His long fingers gently rested on the side of the chair as he leaned closer to her. She didn't know what was happening or what he was about to do but their closeness made her head go into turmoil. She raised her head and found out that his misty grey eyes which were usually expressionless were now burning... burning with something that she couldn't decipher.
She drew in a sharp breath and closed her eyes when she felt that their faces were a scant inch apart. All of a sudden she felt his breath on her ears which made the hair behind her neck stand.
"Your seatbelt..." his voice was dangerously low as he drew back and buckled her seatbelt.
Raine abruptly opened her eyes and turned to him only to see a low mocking smile hanging on his lips.
She greeted her teeth, "You..."
The small smile never once left his lips. He turned to her with a raised brow, "What did I do? Who would have thought that an innocent-looking kitten would be this dirty-minded?" As he said that, he slowly started the car again and drove out of the mansion's gate, totally ignoring Raine's glares.
Raine watched his expression with a grunt. She noticed that Skye and Jedrek behaved alike sometimes. They both could be mischievous when they want and had that cocky attitude too.
She turned to face the window and watched the vast scenery of the evergreen trees as the car sped off on the quiet road. One thing was clear, anyone who built a house around this area wanted one thing and that was privacy. Plus the scenery was refreshing and quiet too. It was located on the outskirts of the city and so the air around here was clean and refreshing.
She returned her gaze back to him after a while. His attention was focused on the road as he drove slowly and his bangs rested on his forehead almost reaching his eyes. His pale skin glowed as the rays of the setting sun fell subtly on it giving it an outer-worldly appearance.
As she looked at his red lips, she could see a slight tug on them in a small smirk.
Her eyes narrowed... what was amusing him?
Just as she was about to ask him, she watched as his thin lips opened and his deep voice resounded after that.
"Like what you see?" he finally turned his head towards her and the amusement in his eyes could not be hidden.
The road was empty from miles ahead and so he wasn't bothered when he removed his attention from the road and focused on her instead. The slight tug on his lips increased and formed into a small smile as he watched her bashful expression.
Raine felt like the earth should just open up and swallow her. This wasn't the first but the second time in a day he had caught her gawking at him. Just by the thought, her face turned into a deep shade of red.
Fortunately for her, Nicole had thought her that whenever she was caught up in a situation like this, the best thing to do was to act unfazed about it and then skillfully change the topic.
She humphed and glared at Jedrek, "Who was staring at you?" she shamelessly denied which made Jedrek raise a brow at her.
"I'm just thinking of what to say next. Besides I have a request to make," her tone was full of confidence as she spoke and Jedrek smiled subtly. Who knew that she had this confident side too? Seems like her earlier fears had been completely dispelled and he felt that the load on his shoulder had been suddenly lifted.
He took a final glimpse at her before returning his gaze to the road, "What is your request, Raine?"
Raine stared at him for a while. She had only said that to change the topic, who would have thought that he would take her words seriously? Regardless of that, she still had something to request for but she wasn't sure if he would agree to her demands.
"Now that I am staying with you, I was wondering if I..."
