Chapter 19 - TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT (Unedited)

Jedrek had to admit that his approach was a little bit sudden and suspicious. Anyone in her place would definitely shudder out of fear of the unknown but he had made sure to reassure her that everything was under control and he would try his best to get her out.

He even went as far as hiding the information from her inorder not to get herself too involved and despite the growing risks, he took her to his house to avoid any external attacks yet the girl who he was going extra miles to protect was really too scared to utter a few words to him? She would rather put herself in danger rather than speak?

He took deep breaths to calm down and quietly gaze at the girl whose face was now pale due to shock and fear.

Jedrek shook his head in self pity. "You really don't trust me do you?" his voice was low but threatening enough to make her flinch again.

Watching her actions, he let out a helpless laugh before he opened his mouth to speak again. "Then what's the point taking all these risks to keep you safe. It's better if I dont go against my people and just..."

"Jed!!!" Zarin who had been quiet the whole time muttered in a low breath, "Calm down."

Jedrek ignored Zarin and stood up abruptly before casting a sidelong glance at Raine. "Come with me," his voice was a little bit calmer but still firm. The high authority in his tone could still be detected.

With that, he strode off with a fast pace ignoring the curious gazes of the people at the table.

Zarin remained quiet but looked at Jedrek's retreating figure for a while with an unhidden glimmer before slowly shifting his gaze to Raine who had her head lowered.

When Raine felt a pair of cold eyes on her, she could only guess who it was but only raised her head and glanced at his expression. Finding his gaze unreadable and expressionless, she sighed and stood up, running towards the direction Jedrek just strode off to.

As soon as she left Zarin returned his attention to his food and resumed eating but his eating pace became slower and slower as if deeply pondering on something.

After a while, he raised his head and stared at Skye, "His temper seems to be getting out of control these days."

On hearing Zarin's statement referring to Jedrek, Skye paused his eating and raised his head to meet Zarin's gaze. His usual calm and playful grey eyes now carried a serious expression in them.

Skye cleared his throat, "There's definitely something he's not telling us about her." As if on par with his eyes, his tone still held a serious feel in them. He titled his head and casted a long glance to the direction Raine just ran up to and unknowingly the corner of his lips made a slight tug.

Meanwhile, Raine ran out of the house and impatiently scanned the huge lawn in search of Jedrek. She was afraid that if she made him wait for her, he would flare up.

After searching for a while, she finally spotted him standing under a willow tree with both hands placed in his pocket. His head was tilted upward as if staring at the setting sun but since his back was facing her she could not see the expression on his face.

By this time, the sun was already sinking into the horizon. The pitiless white ball now an angry shade of orange. The dark orange hue fell subtly on his skin making his pale skin glow under the setting sun and also casting a mystic shadow behind him.

The gentle evening breeze blew past him making the leaves of the tree dance along and gently caressed his hair adding to the serenity of the atmosphere. Raine didn't know how long she had stood there simply just staring at him but she felt that he was a statue, a very majestic statue of some sort of ancient Greek god.

Not until he tilted his head to the side and took a glimpse at her did she recover from her daze and finally took slow steps towards him.

As soon as she got close to him, she could hear his faint voice as if trying to whisper to her.

"Tell me what you want, Raine."
