"Oh my God, what time is it?" Gabby was taken aback when her eyes caught the sunlight, which in fact could still seep through the thick gray curtains behind her apartment bedroom window.
The job that nearly drove her crazy all night was the reason she woke up this late. Yes, because there was too much work to be done suddenly, she was forced to stay up late and sleep late.
The time is 06.15 a.m. At least there's still time to shower and get ready.
Gabby immediately got out of bed and went into the bathroom to do a ritual of cleaning herself. It seemed like she was trying so hard to manage her time well, so that even the bathing activity was only finished in 10 minutes. I don't know how she cleaned her body so could finish that fast.
The woman hastily stepped into the wardrobe, she grabbed a set of work clothes. A long-sleeved peach plain shirt and a black knee-length skirt covered her slender body. She then tied her hair in a ponytail. After that, polish her face a little with light make-up.
Everything has been resolved well, while there are only 15 minutes left. She immediately grabbed a hand bag that was located on the desk, then wore high heels that matched her skirt.
"I should be able to get to the office in fifteen minutes. Otherwise, I could be beheaded alive by that new boss!"
The reason is, today the company office where she works will have a new boss coming. That was also the reason why she suddenly got an impromptu job from the finance director. Yes, the new boss who will be managing the company suddenly asked for a financial report on first day in the office.
As an accountant, Gabby would have to be able to grant that request, even though she had to stay up late for a report. However, at least she could still breathe a sigh of relief because she had done her job well. Now it's just a matter of how to get there in just 15 minutes.
Gabby walked hastily out of her apartment. Stepping on a bright gray tiled floor. She immediately entered one of the elevator doors and the object quickly shot her body up to the ground floor, to be precise in a basement where her car parked.
She placed the bag beside the driver's seat, then without waiting long she immediately drove a white Honda Jazz out of the basement. Flying at high speed, hoping to reach the destination on time.
The woman pressed the music player. Instantly she was lost in the chanting of the song "Minefield" by Faouzia and John Legend.
"Hopefully the new boss isn't fierce." She whispered in the middle of driving.
Luckily the streets still looked deserted, there were almost no traffic jams. Just a small traffic jam that only took about three minutes. She really hope can get to the office on time. However, unfortunately her hopes were dashed when she realized the time was already showing at 07.05. That means she is 5 minutes late before arriving at the office, even though the distance to the office is only a few meters away.
As soon as they arrived at the office area parking lot, Gabby immediately got out of the car and rushed into the building with slightly staggered steps, because of the difficulty of walking fast using high heels.
The main door was still wide open. From outside Gabby could clearly see several employees lined up inside, even the entire board of directors lined up to welcome the arrival of the new boss.
In the middle of the line was the figure of a foreign man who was standing with back to her. It was certain that the man would be the new leader of the company.
Unlucky. It seemed she had to brace herself mentally before going in there. Even so, she still hoped that the new boss had an angelic heart.
Gabby slowed her steps, until she arrived in front of the glass door which was still wide open.
"You're ten minutes and twenty seconds late!"
A baritone voice suddenly stopped Gabby's steps, right in the doorway. The woman seemed to jump. How would the man know if she had just arrived when he wasn't looking at her?
The man was still in the same position, standing with his back to Gabby, raising his right arm. His gaze seemed to focus on the digital watch that was wrapped around his wrist. He then turned around and it managed to make Gabby even more surprised.
'H-he?' Gabby muttered under her breath as she looked up at the man standing a few feet in front of her.
Like Gabby, the man looked surprised to find Gabby there. However, he quickly neutralized his feelings and returned to being elegant in front of the board of directors and other staff.
'Oh shit. Why can she work in this office?' mumbled the man, glaring at Gabby scornfully.
Seeing the piercing gaze of the pair of eagle eyes, of course, made Gabby seem to shrink and look down, avoiding eye contact between them.
"Sorry, I'm late." Gabby whispered a little nervously.
"Everyone here knows you're late, Miss!" said the man as if he didn't accept the apology from Gabby.
"I know, but the roads are jammed and I can't avoid it." Gabby replied simply. She was just trying to find an answer that would secure her position.
"What time are you leaving?" The question managed to make Gabby look up and look back at the man she was talking to.
"If you had left earlier, I think you wouldn't be stuck in traffic and coming to work so late like this!" said the man, looking disbelieving at Gabby, who was trying to come up with an excuse.
"I-I—"
"I most dislike employees who are inconsistent and undisciplined!" the man concluded emphatically, he didn't even give Gabby a chance to explain.
"And you!" pointed the man at Gabby.
Gabby was immediately shocked and felt as if her heart had been hit by a sledgehammer at the same time. How come? The man's gaze looked sharp, straight at her. Oh shit. Her hopes of having a kind-hearted boss seemed to have simply vanished.
"You know that today is my first day in this office. You should have arrived earlier, not the other way around, or maybe you're used to coming in the afternoon like this?" said the man as if he was rebuking the woman who was standing far in front of him.
"N-no, Sir!" Gabby argued, shaking her head.
Of course she would not accept being accused like that. She had always come on time and only today was she late. That's because she had to stay up until 03.00 am for the report.
"After this, I will wait for you in my room!"
