Gabby was stunned, speechless. Just getting a piercing stare from that man had made her die of lice, plus a scream from the man. She really felt someone stabbed her in the heart in seconds.
Without thinking, Gabby went straight to her study, after Gerry had already left the place. She tried to neutralize her feelings, after arriving inside the study. She seemed to stand in front of the desk, then inhaled repeatedly and exhaled slowly.
She didn't even think that the man who had helped her from the mugger yesterday was the person who would become the new boss at the company where she worked. It turned out that the person who had been the talk of the town for the past two weeks was Gerry.
Unlucky. She doesn't know what sin she has committed, so that God brings her back to meet Gerry, an annoying man.
It was undeniable that she had admired the man's good looks, but if she saw Gerry's slightly arrogant attitude, it seemed that she needed to think again about admiring the man. Indeed, there is no other man she can admire other than her boss. She thought there was still a lot.
"You're still here? Shouldn't you be seeing Gerry?"
Gabby gasped when a sudden baritone voice broke and immediately caught her attention. Instantly she stroked her chest which was throbbing in surprise. She immediately turned her body a little, who knows how long David had been standing beside her. The man who now serves as COO at the company. The reason, David is her new boss's cousin. According to news circulating, Gerry and David are very close and have a very good relationship like friends. Yes, just say that they are friends.
However, after Gabby saw, Gerry's character with David was very much different. The David she had known for the past year was a very kind man, gentle and not arrogant. In contrast to Gerry who is just the opposite. Yes, although Gabby still doesn't know much about the man, but by looking at Gerry's attitude these two days, she becomes convinced that Gerry seems arrogant. I don't know what the fate of the employees at the company will be if this man is led.
"M-Mr. Dave." Gabby said nervously and immediately bowed her head in respect to her boss, while her hands were intertwined, trying to suppress the tremors that had never been absent from taking over her body.
Yes, of course she was very afraid to face Gerry. I still remember clearly how the piercing gaze of the man was. She began to worry about her fate. I don't know what the new boss will do to her. What if Gerry suddenly fired her?
"Go! There's no need to be afraid," pleaded David, as if he could clearly see the chaos in Gabby's heart right now.
David's words, which are always gentle and seem relaxed, have always been the dream of every woman, including Gabby.
Yes, usually David's words can always calm Gabby's heart when she is in such a mess. However, not for now. In fact, the sinister aura of Gerry's figure always manages to haunt her and is very difficult to avoid.
"B-but, Sir—"
"Gerry is my cousin and best friend, Gabby. I know that he is a very good person, actually," concluded David, who seemed to know very well how scared Gabby was right now.
Gabby again and again took a deep breath to get her feelings back. It seemed that this time she had to follow David's advice. Maybe what the man said was true that Gerry was actually a very nice person. She hoped so. There's nothing wrong with trying it first.
"You only made one mistake, didn't you? You were late for work. I don't think it was too fatal and Gerry would forgive you. Trust me." David said again, trying to calm her down.
Gabby was stunned for a moment at such a question. She seemed confused about what answer to give.
'At work, I only made one mistake, but before that I made another mistake which made Mr. Gerry very angry with me.' Gabby's mind responded.
"Have you ever made any other mistakes besides that?" said David which managed to make Gabby wake up from her daydream.
"Hh? N-no, Sir." Gabby replied, nervously.
"Then what are you waiting for? Get to Gerry now before he gets mad at you!" David ordered again trying to convince.
"O-okay, Sir. I'll see him soon." Gabby replied, a little forced. "Excuse me." He added.
"Yes, please," replied David, nodding his head, then smiled broadly.
Gabby immediately went to the CEO's room which was not far from her office and also David's office. Her steps were very slow and faltering, full of doubts. Every now and then she looked back at David, who was still standing in the same place. Only a smile that the man threw at her.
Instantly her steps stopped right in front of the door where the words "CEO's Room" were clearly displayed, followed by the name "Gerry Bramasta Wijaya" under it, as the full name of the company leader.
Gabby stared intently at the name that caught her attention for a moment. Suddenly her hand rose to knock on the door. However, it failed when doubt suddenly invaded again. She lowered the hand again, trying to muster up her courage again.
After taking a deep breath, she then raised her palms, said a prayer and hoped that everything would be fine.
"Oh God, protect Your kind and beautiful servant like me." He said confidently, then rubbed her hands over her face.
Meanwhile, David, who turned out to be following and standing a few meters behind Gabby, seemed to chuckle while shaking his head at the woman's attitude.
"Turns out she's really scared of Gerry. How can they work so well together like that?" David whispered then moved from that place to his room which was only a few meters from Gerry's room.
After finishing saying the prayer, Gabby finally got up the courage to knock on the door three times. Without waiting long, a reply echoed from inside the room and asked her to come in.
Slowly her hand moved, turning the golden yellow door knob until the sound of the door creaking suddenly broke slowly as the door opened wider and wider.
Gabby hadn't continued on her way and simply chose to lean her head forward, confirming the conditions in the room.
Gerry was seen sitting in a swivel chair with his back to his desk. I don't know what he was doing there.
Gabby then stroked her chest as if feeling relieved because she didn't immediately see the boss's grim expression which she thought was very scary. She decided to continue on her way.
Very slowly her feet lifted one by one into the room. Her legs seemed to be shaking a little because of the tremors she had been unable to control. Even with her lips that are no less vibrating when she wants to say something, although in a low tone.
"Excuse me."
"Where have you been? Why are you only seeing me now? Didn't I ask you to come half an hour ago?"
