Chapter 7 - ARE YOU LYING?

Gabby gasped and immediately lowered her head when she suddenly received a question from her boss. Looks like what David said about the figure of a kind Gerry is not true. Just look at the man's way of speaking which is very far from David. No tenderness at all.

It seems Gerry is indeed a figure who does not know women at all. The proof is that he doesn't know how to treat women well. He thought there would be a woman who liked being treated rudely like that? Even if it's only through words, of course his attitude can hurt the feelings of a woman who clearly has a heart as soft as cotton.

"Are you deaf, huh?"

Gerry turned the chair he was sitting on to face Gabby who was standing across the table. His gaze was drawn sharply at the woman who was actually looking down and didn't dare to look at him at all.

"Haven't you heard what I said yet?" asked Gerry again emphatically, when there was no answer from Gabby at all.

Gerry's loud voice suddenly made Gabby jump up. However, the woman still tried her best not to stare back at the man sitting in front of her. Even the man continued to let her stand without asking her to sit down first.

Unlucky! I don't know what sin she has committed to have to be reunited with Gerry's figure. Worse still, she currently has the position of secretary to the man. Her suffering is complete. Of course she was worried about being bullied by Gerry, just because of a trivial matter that involved her with the man.

"I-I—"

"Speak the truth! What exactly were you doing the last half hour huh?" concluded Gerry, suddenly making Gabby, who was previously nervous, even more nervous.

Gabby thought the man not only didn't know how to treat a woman, he didn't know how to treat his subordinates either.

What Gabby is experiencing right now is the biggest misfortune in her life. If she had a lot of money, right now she would send her resignation letter to the company. Looks like she won't last long if she has to work as Gerry's secretary.

'Oh God, help me, please!' Gabby said to herself. Hope God will help her soon.

"Gosh ... who exactly has hired someone like you in this company? You know what? This is a bona fide company that just anyone can't work here!" Gerry's sarcasm was clearly very condescending to Gabby.

"I can't understand how the head of HRD accepts a stupid woman like you to work here." She whispered, shaking her head, a sign that she still doesn't believe in the figure of Gabby who can work in her company.

Like a sharp dagger stabbed right in the heart, those were Gerry's words deliberately aimed at Gabby. Gabby was clearly hurt. This is the first time someone has called her "Stupid Woman", whereas before she always got achievements when she was still in school.

'Yes, I know. This is indeed the number one company in the country and not just anyone can work here. You should be aware, Sir, why I can work here. It's impossible for me to be accepted to work here, if I don't have any advantages.' Gabby replied, which of course could only be expressed in her heart.

Deep in her heart, Gabby wanted to berate the man in front of her. She thought Gerry was a kind person because she had helped her from the mugger. However, it turned out to be wrong. She was sure that Gerry's help was just a coincidence, not on purpose.

If she had known Gerry's true nature from the start, she wouldn't have bothered with the man either. She felt very sorry because yesterday she had pretended to be Gerry's lover. If she knew Gerrry's attitude like that, of course she would laugh and let the man be ridiculed by his friends. It turns out that the world is so small.

"S-sorry, Sir. How can I answer, if you keep scolding me like that?" Gabby squeaked bravely as she let out the sentence, which was devoted to Gerry.

For some reason Gabby's mouth suddenly became so light in speaking, as if there was no burden at all. In fact, the person she is currently dealing with, is not a random person who can listen to other people's complaints or even arguments at any time. This time she even dared to look up and look at Gerry's handsome face which had caught her attention.

Receiving this statement, Gerry was immediately taken aback. Can't believe the woman in front of him dared to say that to him.

From the start, Gerry was sure that the woman was not a normal human. Apart from being undisciplined, the woman also lacked manners and was a little crazy. Just look at the way he talks. How could a subordinate dare to attack his superior like that.

The pair of hazel eyes narrowed, casting a sharp gaze that made Gabby instantly shrink back and immediately lower her head.

"Sorry, Sir, I mean ... please give me a chance to answer your question." Gabby corrected after seeing Gerry's piercing stare.

Unfortunately, the woman was still wrong in speaking. Hadn't Gerry already given her the opportunity to answer? It's just that she remained silent because of the tremors that continued to attack her and were difficult to control.

"Okay, please answer my question!"

Luckily Gerry didn't prolong Gabby's blunder and gave her a second chance to speak.

"Okay, Sir. Mr. David met me earlier and we talked about work, that's the reason I'm late to see you." Gabby said simply.

That was the only thing on her mind at the moment, hoping Gerry wouldn't have to call David to prove her point.

Gerry looked to have his brows furrowed at the answer, as if he didn't believe Gabby's reasoning.

"What work are you guys discussing?" Gerry chirps that suddenly makes Gabby frantically look for answers.

Gabby was nervous again. Her gaze became unfocused. Every now and then she looked to the left, then to the right. Couldn't focus on looking at Gerry who was clearly throwing a questioning look and was waiting for an answer from her.

"W-we ... we were discussing a meeting plan for the next two days with one of the company's clients from Japan, Sir." Gabby explained nervously. Luckily she still remembers the schedule of meetings with other companies, at least he can use that as an excuse.

It turns out that the saying is true that after one lie, there will be other lies that follow. At least that's how Gabby was feeling right now. She had no intention of lying to Gerry, but this time she had to.

Gerry was still silent and watched Gabby's face and movements. It seemed that he didn't necessarily believe what she said. For some reason his heart said that at this time Gabby was trying to lie to him.

Gerry's gaze squinted slightly and focused on the pair of brown irises in front of him. He then changed his sitting position to an upright position, then leaned forward with his arms folded on the workbench, without changing his inquisitive gaze in the slightest.

"Are you lying?"
