Monday morning, 7:20 a.m.
"Logan!" Stephanie shouted from outside Logan's room. She was already prepared for school.
Inside Logan's room.
Logan was lying on his bed, he was already awake, but he wanted to relax a little bit.
On hearing Stephanie's call, he hurriedly stood up from his bed and ran into the bathroom, "I'm coming."
He quickly took a shower then came back out and got dressed. When he opened the door in less than five minutes, Stephanie was staring daggers at him.
"Did you just bathe and wear your clothes in less than five minutes?" She asked with an odd expression.
"No, I was already done bathing when you called." Logan lied without flinching.
"Hmm, are you sure?" Stephanie tried to peek into his room.
Logan blocked her before closing the door, "Yes, now let's go."
"You're not eating?" Stephanie pointed at the dining table, a dish was already prepared.
"You made this?" Logan asked, a little taken aback.
Stephanie was only 9 years old.
"Yes, enjoy." Stephanie smiled proudly.
"I think I'll pass." Logan said after getting a whiff of the food.
His sense of smell has heightened to a frightening level. He didn't know what happened on Friday night, but all he knew was that there were some changes in his body. Whenever he was sleeping, he had strange dreams about being attacked by a large shadow. He hasn't gotten a clear view of the creature yet, all he knew was that it was big.
"But… I made it for you." Stephanie said with a downcast look.
"I'm just joking. I'll pack it with me, we'll be late if I decide to eat first." Logan laughed before quickly packing up the food.
When Stephanie saw that he really packed it, she smiled in delight before following Logan.
Twenty minutes later.
Logan stood at the front of Dixon High somewhat dazed.
"Logan, Logan."
Hearing his name, he turned around only to see Castiel staring at him oddly.
"Huh? Cass, what's up?" Logan asked, still slightly distracted.
"I've been calling you for almost one minute now. What were you thinking of?" Castiel looked around, trying to see what was distracting Logan.
"Oh, that… well, it's kinda odd, but…" Logan didn't know how to explain what was happening.
He could hear almost everything that was being said and that was happening in the school. Even the heartbeats of people around him, he could hear them clearly. Then there's a strange scent he suddenly noticed each person had.
Of all the scents, he was more confused by one. It was a young lady, but he was certain that the scent he was getting from her was that of blood. It was subtle, but he knew he was accurate.
He couldn't tell Castiel this because it sounded weird, even he would have a hard time believing it.
"What's odd?" Castiel asked when Logan froze.
"Don't worry, forget about it. Let's go in." Logan shook his head, opting to keep it to himself.
"Did you remember to take Victoria to school?" Castiel asked as they walked into the school building.
"What do you take me for?" Logan raised a brow, unable to believe Castiel asked such a question.
"Given your forgetful nature, it's only natural that I remind you. I tried calling you during the weekend but your phone wasn't going through." Castiel said.
"It's broken." Logan said.
"You destroyed it?" Castiel wore a shocked expression.
"Haha, not funny. It fell." Logan said seriously.
They soon got to their class and everyone went to their seats.
Logan sat on his seat, but he was overhearing multiple conversations going on outside. One in particular drew his attention, unfortunately, it ended before he could listen to what they were saying, all he knew was that the people were speaking of reported seeing a large shadow running through the woods, heading in the direction of where Logan's house was located.
The large shadow was what got his attention, but the conversation ended quickly.
'A large shadow. Hmm.' He fell deep in thoughts.
"Ah…" He exclaimed softly and held onto his ears.
Castiel, who was sitting in front of him, heard his soft scream and turned around curiously. He could tell that his friend was somewhat different from how he was the last time they saw each other.
"Are you alright?" He asked out of concern.
Logan covered his ears with his hands while looking around. He could hear a grating sound from one of the classes. Due to his enhanced hearing, it was amplified. It was as if someone was dragging their nails down a board.
"I'm, I'm fine." Logan said, but he still looked around, trying to figure out where it was coming from.
Just before the school bell rang to signify the beginning of class for that day, Daphne stepped into the class.
As usual, she attracted the attention of everyone in the class, Logan included. But as usual, Logan turned to the side the moment he saw that it was her.
However, he quickly turned around once again to look at her.
When he saw her enter a few seconds ago, he had a flashback. In this flashback, he was lying on the ground, wounded and on the brink of death, he managed to open his eyes, and this was the face he saw. Even in the dark, he could not forget the face.
Just as he was staring at her in confusion, she on the other hand was staring at him in shock. She quickly hid her shocked expression and went to her seat, pretending as if nothing happened. Only a few people saw the person she was staring at, and one of those people was Logan's friend, Castiel.
He turned around hurriedly, trying to tell Logan that he managed to catch the eye of the class beauty, but to his surprise, Logan was staring at Daphne, not moving his eyes away.
'What's wrong with him? He normally doesn't give her a second glance.' Castiel was once again surprised by his friend's behavior. If not for something, he would've said this wasn't his friend.
The contrast between his usual behavior and how he was now was just too great.
