I was on my way down the stairs when I noticed someone walking out of the corridors and found out it was Ali whom I have never seen in weeks. I stopped to look at him. "Hey," I called him.
I don't know why he seems to look problematic in my sight, "Aren't you later than usual?" he asked me as she walk towards me holding a towel in his hand which I don't know what for.
Now that I think of it, I didn't get to tell him about my problem with Zach buying the GP team and that I am now working with him. But looking at my brother right now, he looks just as bad as a problematic person and I feel bad about sharing my problems with him in that condition. "We're moving our office to another floor today," I said, "There's no work for today,"
"I see," he said. I don't know what to say next. I just looked at him from head to toe. It's been weeks since I last saw him in the house. I haven't talked to him for weeks and it seems like I am missing something out.
"Are you okay?" I asked him, "I didn't see you in the house the entire week," I said. He showed no emotion about the question and made me think that he was hiding something from me.
"Yeah," he said casually. "I was busy with work so I sleep in the office often, I'm sorry," he even apologized.
'No, it's fine," I said, 'I just want to know what was going on," and why you look like that.
"I'm fine, " he said, "Let's have dinner together later,"
"Sure," I said and continued walking down the stairs and went to the office.
It had been 2 weeks since the contract was signed and I became Zach's employee. We spent the 2 weeks like normal but today, we didn't come to the building for work but to move our things to another floor which was 5 floors below the top floor which was Zach's office.
I still don't feel good about being on a floor closer to his and being in an environment closer to him but I have nothing left to do.
I was thinking about it last week and came to the thought that there is nothing wrong with meeting him at work since I can just keep the awkwardness by myself. My problem right now is that people might recognize me as their CEO's wife.
I am still not sure if they knew that we have separated 2 years ago and if they didn't, they might still think of me as their CEO's wife.
I still have no courage to talk to Zach about it. I didn't want to ask him first. I'd find a chance when he talks to me first which I know is never going to happen.
And I badly want to ask him if he purposely took the GP team or not. Because they aren't on good terms with the leader of the team and there are a lot better teams that they can just take it but they really chose GP to do jobs for them. And I remember Leslie saying that he declined but they added more to the offer and it became so big that even Leslie couldn't decline.
But I know I shouldn't ask because I don't want him to accuse me of being assumptive.
"This is our new office," Leslie said as she walk inside a room with tables and computers inside. There were things inside the room but it seems empty to me. It's because it looks bare because we are just yet to occupy it.
The new office looks just like the old one. Most of the floors in this building have identical structures and room divisions so it looks exactly like the old ones. And the table arrangements were also kept the same so we wouldn't have to adjust more in a different room.
We all looked inside the room and explore each corner. We came into Leslie's office and noticed that it was already decorated and everything in her old office were already moved in. "When did you move these?" I asked her. The things inside were arranged exactly like how they were in the old room.
"Last night," she answered and sat at the table.
"Alone?" I asked.
"No," she said immediately, "I got people for that,," she winked. I nodded and touched the clean table. it looks good and new. I was looking around when I heard a loud sound coming from the outside. Leslie and I looked at each other and went to see what happened outside. I thought a table was knocked down but when I came outside, I saw people holding party poppers and confetti was already on the floor.
It was a party popper.
"GP TEAM! WELCOME TO ALFONSO GROUP!!" they shouted together and more party poppers were popped and I heard party horns being blown up. I laughed together with my other team members and clapped as I celebrate with them.
They were from Alfonso Group on the same floor as us and they came to celebrate with us finally moving in with them.
"Thank you, Marketing department!" Leslie thanked them as we all clapped.
We spent time getting to know each other since we will be working together from today onwards. I was very worried that they might know that it was me so I introduced myself as Xhyrah only.
They can just think that there were a lot of Xhyrahs in the world. It doesn't have to be their CEO's ex-wife only. I shook hands and smiled with them as we introduce ourselves to each other.
It was fun getting to know new people and they were so nice and hospitable which I think would be good for me and my GP team members. It seems like we wouldn't have to adjust as long as we thought we would.
After talking to the marketing department, we all came back to the 12th floor to get out things from our desks. There were a lot of things on my desk that I have to move. And I still need to clean my drawers because I put a lot in them. Also, the employee's locker is outside the office. I have to empty them all up so I can move them to the new office.
There were boxes outside the office which are meant for us to use to move out things. I took mine together with Lydia and Carol.
I started putting all my things in the box. I found out that I got the most things out of us three. I looked at Carol's box and she could barely even fill half of the box. I got so much considering that I just came here a month ago. So I tried to put it all in and push them all to the bottom and made it less full.
"You ready?" Carol asked me and I could only nod at her. Lydia, Carol, and I carried our boxes out of the office. I was about to close the door when I heard something fall and realized that it came from the bottom of my box.
"Oh no," I said and put the box on the ground immediately to stop it from dropping more things. "You go first, I'mma just put these back," I told them.
I cannot let them stay here longer since they were also carrying boxes. "Are you sure you don't need help?" Lydia asked me.
"I'll be fine, I just need to put these back," I said.
They left me alone. I didn't mind and picked up all the things that came out from the bottom of my box. Some of them got broken but thank goodness they weren't glass and just a bunch of plastic displays. I picked everything from the floor and carried the box holding the bottom part of the box firmly so it wouldn't fall anymore.
It was heavy but I got it. I walked toward the elevator and pressed the button using my elbow. I can just ask the people inside to press the 31st floor for me when I get inside.
I waited for the elevator to go up patiently. But when it opened, I didn't expect to see Zach riding the employee's elevator. I know my surprise was shown on my face so I tried hard to stop it and walked inside the elevator holding the box of stuff that I was going to move upstairs.
"Thirty-first floor?" he asked me.
"Y-yes please," I said and cursed myself in my mind for stuttering. He stepped forward to press the button and stepped back to go back to his position again.
"Do you need help with that?" he asked me.
"No, I'm fine," I said and adjusted my hands because it was slowly slipping away. "It'd be weird if I'd let you carry it in the office," I added and regretted it immediately.
"Tss," he said.
"Tsk, why does it have to be GP team,' I mumbled.
"Are you saying something?' he asked me,
"No," I denied though it was very obvious that it was a lie.
"You got a problem with that?"
I knew he heard it clearly.
"I'm afraid your employees might know me," I said.
"And?"
I looked at him with my mouth open, "What do you mean 'and?."
"Why does it matter if they knew or not?"
"Because I want to work as normally as possible?" I said sarcastically. I scoffed. He talks about it as if it was not a big deal being known as his wife by the people in this building.
Everything fell quiet after I said that. I was moving my hand to the bottom because it is slowly slipping from the bottom. I accidentally dropped a radish plushie. I gulped and looked at him as he pick it up and looked me in the eye.
I looked away but he followed my sight and I had no choice but to look at him. "There's no reason hiding it, Xhyrah,"
Him saying my name sent shivers down my spine. It's been a very long time since I heard him say my name and remember how it used to be so good in my ears.
The look in his eyes made me weaker. There was something to it that I couldn't explain and it was making me want to just disappear from his sight. I looked away again when I realized it was no good looking at him.
"You don't understand," I said. I can still feel his dark eyes darting at me. "When I got to this building, I tried my best not to get close to you because I didn't want anyone to know about us," I said, "I just want to work normally,"
"Is that really the reason why you're avoiding me?" he suddenly asked me and I was taken aback because of the question. I looked back up and there were those gray eyes again.
"What are you trying to say?" I asked him when I got myself back from rethinking why I was trying to avoid him. Is it really the main reason why? Or is it because I was too ashamed of facing him after lying about my reason to separate?
He put the plushie back into my box and faced the elevator door and put his hands in his pocket ignoring my question.
He didn't look at me again until he stopped on the right floor leaving me inside the elevator as I think of what he was trying to say. And what I had just realized about myself.
I even forgot to ask him if the public knew about our separation or not.

3RD PERSON'S POV
Zach came to his office after meeting Xhyrah in the elevator. He purposely used the employee's elevator to test his luck and see if he would meet Xhyrah. And he did, He smirked as he walk into his office only to find out that someone was sitting on the chair in front of his desk.
He didn't expect to see the woman in his office. "I have to talk to you about something, Mr. Alfonso,'" the woman said as she cross his legs and waited for him to take a seat.
When Zach sat on his swivel chair, Leslie put a folder in front of him. He looked at her before taking it and opening it to see what was inside.
"Your wife is using her old documents," Leslie said and tilted her head to see his reaction. Zach looked at the documents sent by Xhyrah when she applied for the job. She was using her old status where his surname wasn't written on her name. "So this is what was happening to the both of you," Leslie said,
"And what about it?" he asked as he close the folder in front of her.
Leslie smirked, "You got divorced?" she asked him forwardly. She was thinking that it was the reason why Zach tried to reach up to her team. Because his wife left him.
"No," Zach answered confidently. Leslie looked at him trying to see if he was lying but he couldn't see any traces on his face nor in his eyes. She shrugged.
