Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 41 - Do I

Chapter 41 - Do I

"Wait, wait what??" asked Wura in shock.

"Is there something wrong my princess??" asked the blacksmith as he turned to look at Wura, and Liam did too.

"Ahh No no, I was just muttering something incoherent to myself" said Wura as she sighed in relief, they did not seem to hear her, they were both too engrossed in their talking to notice that she was shocked.

"Ah I see my princess" said the blacksmith.

"Yes" said Wura as she smiled, and Liam just looked at her and smiled.

Wura could promise you that the expression on Liam's face was one that read "You cannot get yourself out of this" and Wura glared at him, and he just ignored her and turned back to look at the blacksmith.

"As I was saying your highness, everything is ready for the making of the rings" said the blacksmith.

"The gold is prepared, the furnace is ready and heated up, all this is left remaining are the measurements of your fingers your highnesses" said the blacksmith.

Liam liked this blacksmith, he was straight to the point and efficient, and most of all, he seemed for excited about this than Liam actually was, and Liam approved of that.

"Alright" said Liam.

"You can begin to take the measurements" said Liam.

"Thank you your highness" said the blacksmith.

"If you would please give me your left hand" said the blacksmith.

"Of course" said Liam as he gave the blacksmith his left hand.

The blacksmith brought out a little string from his pocket, and he tied it around Liam's ring finger, and he removed the string when he was satisfied with it's size on Liam's finger.

"It is all done your highness" said the blacksmith as he smiled.

"That was quicker than I had anticipated" said Liam.

"Many people say that your highness" said the blacksmith as he laughed.

"Now for you my princess" he said.

"Haha" said Wura as she laughed awkwardly, it would be a lie if she said that she was not shocked at all, imagine that she woke up this morning, got dressed and was taken all the way to the blacksmiths to provide the measurements for a ring that she did not even know existed.

Wura walked forward, and she gave the blacksmith her left hand, just as how Liam had done.

"Let me just say for the record that it is an honour to be the one to make the rings for you your highnesses" said the blacksmith as he pulled out another string from his pocket and he tied it around her ring finger.

The blacksmith was extremely happy and honored, to be the one tasked with making the Prince's and Princess rings, it was not a common sight to see the Royals craft new rings and jewelry, most of their rings were passed down from generation to generation.

And this blacksmith was lucky, because not only was he the first of many generations to prepare a ring for the Prince and his betrothed, but he was also one of the first to be aware that the Prince had chosen a wife, and she was a fair maiden.

But he was sworn to secrecy after all, and he could not tell a single soul who the Prince had chosen to be his wife, until the Prince had made a public announcement to the entire Kingdom.

As soon as the blacksmith was satisfied with the size of the string on Wura's finger, he pulled off the string.

"That is all your highnesses" said the blacksmith.

"The next step is to melt down the gold" he said.

"Shall I melt it in the presence of your highnesses??" asked the blacksmith as he looked at Wura and Liam.

"That is a good Idea" said Liam.

"Alright, please do melt the gold in our presence" said Liam as Wura did not say a single word.

"As you please your highness" said the blacksmith as he walked over to his furnace.

The blacksmith brought out a bar of gold from underneath his metal desk, as he did so, he also brought out a iron metal pot, he wore rubber gloves and he placed the gold into the pot.

Wura was sure that bar of gold was worth many silver coins, she was sure that it must have been Liam that provided such a huge piece of gold.

The blacksmith used a pair of iron billy tongs to carry the pot, he walked over to the furnace and he opened it, as soon as he did so, even Wura could feel the intense heat from the distance she was standing in, she wondered how the blacksmith could look so calm as he was the one nearest to the scorching heat.

The blacksmith placed the metal iron pot into the furnace safely with the tongs and the closed the door of the furnace.

"It will take a few minutes before the gold has fully melted" said the blacksmith as he turned to look at Wura and Liam.

"That is alright, we shall wait" said Liam, he was not in a rush to go anywhere, in fact he had planned to spend the entire day with Wura, in a bid to get to know her better.

After a few minutes, the blacksmith picked up his tongs and he opened the door of the furnace, he used the tongs to get a grip of the metal pot and he pulled out out of the furnace, he shut the door of the furnace and he carried the pot of now melted gold with his tongs.

He had laid out two iron moulds earlier, according to sizes on Wura and Liam's fingers.

He carefully and skillfully poured the still boiling melted gold into the two moulds, he placed the now empty iron pot into freezing cold water, as soon as the blazing iron pot touched the water steam began to form.

The blacksmith dropped the pot in the water, and he went to quickly close the two moulds.

"That is all your highness" said the blacksmith as he turned to look at Wura and Liam.

"The rings will be ready in five days as per your conditions" said the blacksmith.

"You are very skilled in your work" said Liam.

"I am flattered your highness" said the blacksmith as he smiled.

"We shall be taking our leave now, I will return for the rings as the agreed time" said Liam.

"Alright your highness, it was an honour to meet you, and also you Princess" said the blacksmith as he smiled and Wura smiled back as they left.

....

"Why did you not inform me that we were going to the blacksmiths to create a ring??" asked Wura as she looked at Liam who was sitting right across her in the now moving carriage.

"Do I have to inform you on everything I plan for you my betrothed??" asked Liam

"No of course not" said Wura as she was upset.

"You seem upset... why??" asked Liam as he chuckled.

"Is it because you do not want to marry me? and you do not like that I have moved very swiftly??" asked Liam as he looked at Wura carefully.

"No of course not!" said Wura as she was quick to answer him.

"I am only upset because you did not inform me earlier" said Wura.

"I would have loved to be present to pick the width of he ring, for all I know you could have decided that the width of the ring be very thin" said Wura as she lied.

"Really is that so??" asked Liam as he smiled at her and Wura nodded.

"What a surprise, I never took you as a materialistic woman" said Liam as he looked amused.

"One is never truly considered materialistic until they are they are faced with such material" replied Wura.

"Your way of twisting words never ceases to amaze me" said Liam as he chuckled, Wura could twist all his words into new words he had never even uttered before.

"Like I said your highness, I am not an easy woman" said Wura with pride.

"That you are not in truth" said Liam as he laughed, he was sure that with Wura continually by his side, there would never be a dull moment in his life starting from this moment.

"Your highness, where is it that we are going??" asked Wura as she narrowed her eyes, she looked out the window, this was not the way to her house, which meant that Liam was taking her somewhere else, and she was not ready for more surprises.

"We are going to the castle" replied Liam casually.

"But why your highness?" asked Wura with wide eyes, why the castle of all places??

"You shall see when we arrive there soon" replied Liam as he did not tell her anything at all.

"Oh I see" said Wura as she went quiet and she just looked outside the carriage window.
