Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 17 - Goodbye

Chapter 17 - Goodbye

Wura yawned as she opened her eyes, she stretched and moved in her bed like a sleepy kitten, she looked outside her window, the curtain was pulled back and hanged by the side.

Outside still looked at dark as night, but she was sure that it was already morning time.

Wura got out of bed and she went to look outside her window, there was frost on her windows due to the snow, it seemed that it had snowed once more during the night, because a fresh layer of snow covered the ground.

Wura moved her hand through her hair, and her fingers got tangled in her curls, and her hair was messy, she knew that she should have packed her hair in the night.

Wura squinted her eyes as she looked out her window, she was sure that she had seen someone that looked like Uncle Richard and her father, mother, and Aunt Tessa, and that was when it hit her!

Uncle Richard was going on a journey today, she had to quickly go and bid him farewell, she had completely forgot.

Wura put on her coat over her nightgown, she had no time to change at all, it seemed like he was already getting set to go, so she had to hurry, she quickly put on her boots too, since the snow outside looked heavy.

Wura made sure that she wore her coat well, so she would not catch a cold, and she opened the door of her room, and she rushed down the stairs, she opened the front door of her house and as soon as she did that a cold gust of wind blew, and it made her shiver.

"Good Morrow, Mother, Father, Aunt Tessa, Uncle Richard" said Wura as she stepped out of her warm house into the cold.

Her boots were getting covered by the snow.

"Good Morrow Wura" replied Lawrence as he smiled at his daughter.

"Good Morrow Wura" said Ireti.

"Good Morrow my dear" said Tessa as she smiled.

"Mhmmm" replied Richard.

"Why did you all not inform me that you were already leaving Uncle" said Wura as she walked to where they were all standing.

Not that she was still not upset with her Uncle for making such a wager, but now that she thought about it, the joke was on him, her parents had returned and she was sure that Aunt Tessa would be much more easy to bear with her mother and father around.

So in a way she did not loose at all, and that thought made her smile.

Besides she was sure that Aunt Tessa would be too occupied with her mother to even remember to play dress up with her, which relieved Wura, if there was one thing she could not tolerate it was dressing up, she found it a hassle to wear those big, heavy poofy dresses.

"I did want to wake you up my dear, but your lovely Aunt over here told me not to." said Lawrence as he knew that Wura would have wanted to bid Richard goodbye, he was her uncle after all.

"That was because you appeared very tired last night, so I thought it was best to let you rest" said Tessa.

"Thank you Aunt" said Wura as she smiled.

"You are welcome dear" said Tessa as she smiled back.

"Aww Richie, the snow looks heavy, and I have a feeling that it might snow again, why do you not take the carriage instead?" asked Tessa as she looked worried, she was sure that if Richard went ahead with his way he might catch a cold and end up sick, and she did not want that.

She could not imagine her poor Richie suffering from a cold.

"Tessa, I will be fine" said Richard as he finished saddling up his horse that was brown in colour.

"I will arrive at my destination soon" he said as he turned to look at Tessa.

"Are you sure Richie?" asked Tessa

"Yes I am Tessa, I will be alright" said Richard as he assured Tessa that he would be fine.

He wanted to caress her cheek, but he was wearing gloves, and it was cold outside, he did not want to risk Tessa falling ill, and especially in the condition that she was in right now.

"Okay then Richie" said Tessa as she smiled.

"Oh I will miss you my Richie" said Tessa as she could not contain herself and she hugged Richard.

"And so will I" replied Richard as he hugged her back.

"But I will return soon, it will only be three days" he said.

"They will pass by like nothing, you will see Wildvine, trust me" he said as he tried to reassure her.

"I really do Richie, I really do" said Tessa as she broke their hug and she gave his a kiss on the cheek.

"Reti" said Richard as he looked at Ireti.

"I do wish you a safe journey" said Ireti as she smiled.

"Thank you Ireti" said Richard.

"Lawrence" said Richard as he turned to look at Lawrence.

"Richard" said Lawrence as he looked at Richard.

The both of them had a weird way of communication, but they each knew what they meant by the mention of their names.

Richard looked at the final family member that he had to bid goodbye, and that was none other than his niece Wura, who could be annoying, and who was probably still upset with him because she lost their little wager.

"Wura" called Richard.

"Uncle Richard" said Wura as she looked at Richard.

Richard was waiting for her to give him a hug, but he did not say anything, maybe she was still upset with him.

As Richard was getting ready to ride on his horse, he was suddenly surprised.

"I will miss you Uncle" said Wura as she hugged him.

"I will miss you too little niece of mine" said Richard as he almost smiled.

"Oh and I do not mean to Jest you uncle" said Wura.

"But you made your wager at the worst possible time" said Wura happily.

"Not that I am complaining" said Wura smugly as she broke their hug.

"The heavens saved you this time Wura" said Richard.

"Mhmm" said Wura as she knew her Uncle was resisting the urge to let out a laugh.

"What happened for the heavens to help you Wura?" asked Tessa

"It is nothing Aunt, really" said Wura as she laughed.

"Well if you say so" said Tessa

Wura and Richard knew that Tessa would not like it if she knew that they wagered on her, she would throw a fit, so they thought that it was best to keep it their little secret.

Richard winked at Wura, and Wura winked right back at him leaving those who were around them totally confused as to what they both were hiding from them.

He loved his niece even though he did not show it, they were little partners in mischief, and he loved that.

"Goodbye Everyone" said Richard as he mounted on his trustworthy horse.

"Goodbye" said everyone all except for Lawrence as Richard rode away as they waved.
