I let out a pained gasp as I am slammed down against the hard matted floor. The air had been forced out of my lungs from the impact.
My vision blurs and black dots dance across my line of site. Ringing invades my ears as the screams from the crowd around the cage grow unbearable volume. It was hard enough trying to focus on the fight with them shaking the cage and throwing out insults!
I growl I'm frustration and quickly roll away before my opponent's massive foot can connect with my head. I sneer and jump to my feet. This guy was going to end being a problem. It didn't help that he was three times my size!!
I quickly glance around the ring. The longer I was in this cage with him..the smaller it would get thanks to the enchantment one it! I side step out of reach as the shifter charges at me. He was faster than I thought he was going to be. Bear shifters were known for their massive size but were normally slower. This guy wasn't slow at all!!
I inhale several short controlled breaths. I needed a plan to take him out quickly before I ran out of room to keep enough distance between us.
Sweat poured from every creavis of my body, dripping down into my eyes causing them burn. I let out a low growl and take a step back going on the defensive. I couldn't afford to take a direct hit from this guy!
He and his spirit animal were to In sync. He was channeling its powers right now but not enough for his eyes to shift to a different color. There was really only one thing that I could try and the first time that I had done it was a complete accident. I wasn't even sure if I could do it again.
The shifter charges me again but this time I launch myself toward him and when he got close enough I drop sliding through his legs. Quickly getting up I turn and fling myself on to his back which causes him to thrash around. I grab both sides of his head pinning it in hands. My fingertips tingled as my magic pumped through me at lightening speed.
"SHIFT! NOW!!" A strange humming sensation took over my body and my voice had an echo to it. He growls and manages to throw me off his back and it the side of the cage. My body bounced off of it and hit the Mat with a loud "THUD" The sound of bones breaking fills the air, making my skin crawl. I suppress a gag. I hated that sound more than anything. I inhale a long breath and shoot up.
I wasn't done yet. His claws had already come out and his eyes are burning brighter. I didn't have time to deal with the pain in my back. I had to move fast or I was in real trouble!
I snarl and charge at him again. I had to lock my legs around his torso and grab his face again.A cry in pain slips passed my lips as he tried to pull me off and his Claws running across my sides. I barely manage to dodge as he tried to head butt me.
"SLEEP!" I yelp as he brings falling forward at this rate he'd end up on top of me. I throw my body off to the side as we both hit the floor. My body was drained. I had over used my magic..My breathing was coming out in short pants. I didn't have the energy to get up.
I wince and slam my hands over my ears as a high pitched walking sound fills the warehouse! What The Hell Was That?! I groan and use the side of the cage to pull myself to my feet.
"Under the order Of King Ryder, We are here to shut down this Illegal Fight Ring and arrest all Fighters." The blood drained from my face as I recognized that voice. Panic took over my body.
DAD?! I was screwed if he caught my here! How did he even know about this place?! I mentally curse and stumble over to the cage door shoving it open. Once out of the cage I take off toward The back exit! I shoved my way passed people. As long as I stayed out of sight I would be fine!
I gasp as someone catches me around the waist mid-run pulling me back against their chest. Shit! I was so dead! I begin struggling in their grip trying to free myself.
The scent of Ash and the forest stops me from struggling and a pit forms in my stomache. NO! He was the last person that I wanted to see or deal with! Why was Rayden even here with my. father?! Had he really joined The Royal Guard?!
"Ellie?! What the hell are YOU doing HERE?!" My heart clenched. It had been a year since I had heard that nickname..let alone HIS voice. It still made my knees feel weak. I hated myself because he still had that kind of hold on me.
"Are you going to let me go or turn me over to my father to be arrested?" My tone was harsher than I had meant it to be. But I was still angry at him. Even now...His grip tightens around me causing pressure to my wounds. I bite down hard on the inside of my cheek to keep from crying out.
"Tell me why you won't be around me anymore." I could hear the hurt in voice But it only made me angry! He didn't get to be upset! He knew what he had done! It was his own fault!
"Why don't you ask Claude!" In one quick movement I jab my elbow into his torso causing him to loosen his grip enough, I was able to get free. I take off running again and didn't stop at the door. I threw my body against and stumbled outside.
The cool night air kissed my skin causing me to shiver. I caught myself smirk at the forest that was ahead of me. I take off in a full sprint. I wasn't about to stick around outside the building.
I loved running. I wasn't a wolf like my parents or my brothers but I still loved to run. It was freeing. Tonight the only light that I had to guide me was the full moon. It illuminated the forest floor beautifully. But I didn't have time to admire my surroundings.
My heart pounded in rhythm with my feet as the hit the earth. Howling fills the air. But it wasn't the howling sound that I had come to love from the pack.
These howls were from unbound spirit Wolves that were waiting for new pups to be born, so that they could find their chosen bond mate to pair with for the rest of their lives. I use to love hearing the stories about it as a child.
I was panting ad the back of the house was coming into veiw. I slowed my pace so I wasn't out of breath when I entered the house incase someone was home.
I slowly open the back door as quietly as I can. I tip toe inside and turn closing the door just as quietly as I opened it and listen carefully. I didn't hear anyone. I let out a relieved sigh. Thank the Goddess for that. I turn around and nearly jump out of my skin! Dad wad already here! And Mom was standing next to him.
Well I was completely Screwed!
