Tom pouted slightly and answered, "Fine. I'll take it, but only this time. I won't be cheated next time." He said as he crossed his arms and reluctantly let Josh hand the two hundred and ninety five cash to him.
"What happens if I do it next time?" Asked Josh innocently as he tilted his head slightly to the left as he put the cash in the box and pulled a card from it and gave it to Tom, the card read Baltic Avenue.
"Well obviously I can call the munupoly police! It's illegal to cheat people out of many and if you commit fraud you have to go to jail." Tom then pointed at the square labelled "IN JAIL", "See if you do illegal stuff then I can call the police on you and drop you off on the "GO TO JAIL" square, and then you have to go here, to jail." Tom stated matter of factly.
"What do I do when I'm in jail?" Asked Josh with a confused look on his face.
"Hmm, when you're in jail you have to try and escape, but to escape you need to plan a riot and rally the other bad people to kill the police and guards. But if you're caught you can get killed or disabled by the guards due to prison violence. Oh, also if you don't try to escape you're going to be stuck there your whole life and will only be able to eat porridge and soup for the rest of your life." Stated Tom as he nodded along with his words.
"Okay, okay, I won't do it so don't call the munupoly police on me!" Cried out Josh as he shook his head desperately. "I don't want to go to jail! I'll be good, I promise." Exclaimed Josh as he lowered his head and shut his eyes tightly.
"Mhm, that's good," said Tom as he leaned over the board and stretched his arm out to grab at the dice. He collected them both in his small hands then shook them in his cupped palms for a while before releasing one after the other onto the board.
The first dice to stop spinning read five and the second dice read the number two, "Hmm…" went Tom as he put his finger on the square that read "Oriental Avenue", he then counted out the squares, "One, two, three, four, five… and one, two, three, four, five… and one and two, three, four and five…" He said as his finger landed on the square, "Kentucky Avenue".
"Woah, is that Kentucky like KFC?" Asked Josh with an incredulous look in his eyes.
"KFC?" Asked Tom with a confused look on his face.
"Mhm, mhm!" Replied Josh, "I think it means Kentucky fried chickens! They taste really good," He said with a wide smile before having a realisation and asking a question with a sad expression, "have you not tried it?"
"I… Maybe? I'm not sure, I can't really remember…" Replied Tom with a light frown on his face.
Josh quickly tried to change the subject of the conversation, "Well it's not even very good anyway, so it doesn't matter! Besides you can just go some time later, right? So anyway, you've got a new street close to mine. We're like neighbours now." Josh said with a warm smile.
"Hmm, I guess so… yeah, you're right." Said Tom as he stopped frowning and instead a light smile appeared on his small face. "Then, uhm, this street is two hundred and forty in cash…"
"Our ones are the same colour, though… why are the prices a bit different?" Asked Josh as he tilted his head slightly to the side with a look of slight confusion on his face.
"Inflation. Maybe like we heard our parents say. They said like how houses are more expensive now. Or… maybe the houses on your street are bigger? I'm not really sure." Said Tom with a look of confusion on his own face also.
"Mm, maybe you're right." Replied Josh with a still confused look on his face. "Anyway it's my turn to be the cool bank man now!" He called out cheerily as his confused expression slipped off his face and was replaced with a bright and warm smile.
"Mhm." Responded Tom as he sorted his pile of cash out slightly, moving the same coloured notes into their own little piles.
"Okay, ready to start?" Asked Josh as his eyes sparkled joyfully.
Tom responded with a nod of his head as Josh begun, "Well, since it's two hundred and twenty it means the houses must be okay, quite big and a lot of them but they're detached not attached so you can't hear your neighbours committing war crimes through the walls. This means, that crime rates are higher, which means the neighbourhood is unsafe, which means you'll get drugged and kidnapped in the street, which means you'll die, which means the area cost will go down. So that means the highest I can go is a hundred and thirty in cash." Stated Josh with a "that's final" expression on his face.
"Hey, but not being able to hear the war crimes doesn't mean they'll definitely start killing me…" exclaimed Tom with furrowed eyebrows and a confused expression.
"Yeah, but it's likely, and even if it's not it just means they'll kill the leaders of other countries and that's worse making prices go down more!" Retorted Josh as he nodded his head to himself.
"But-" started Tom before he was interrupted by Josh.
"If you argue against the laws then I'll have to call the munupoly police on you for being suspicious and maybe being guilty of doing these bad things! Only guilty people defend the bad peoples actions." Josh said loudly as he pointed at Tom with his index finger.
"No, but-" continued Tom before he was once again interrupted by Josh.
"I told you no buts! Now I have to put you in jail. Don't be mad at me though, I'm being a good person and turning in a guilty person to the police. It's the law." Said Josh with a helpless expression on his face.
Tom gave up and put his face on his knees as Josh drove Tom's car over to the "GO TO JAIL" square and then magically transported him to the "IN JAIL" square.
