Chapter 25 - Kyra

"Your Highness, how much do you know about the champions of the Tower of Erase?"

Crimson raised his brow at the sudden question. Knowing Verdant won't respond to his taunting he gave up. He just shrug and went walking ahead. Verdant did not wait for the Prince to respond and proceed to explain,

"In the ancient times, back when the seven realms are created. The Tower of Erase extend its magic to the realms by building direct ancient anchors in each land. In our Demon Realm, we have the Pillar of Asmodeus. In Fairy Realm, they have the World Tree, in Beast Realm, the Half Peak Mountain. In Dragon realm, the Crystal Valley. In Merfolk realm, the Azure Palace. In Undead realm, the Tower of Bones. In Celestial realm, the Seraph Throne. These ancient anchors connect us together with the Tower of Erase."

Crimson is really not in the mood for history lessons. His eyes swept to the bustling market of the human realm. There are many middle aged man and woman sell interesting food and things not found in the demon realm. Yet he wasn't interested in them.

If the humans here cut their throats and bathe in their blood and flesh, now that would be interesting.

Despite the aloof and disdain Crimson's body exudes, he still went ahead and continue his explanation.

"After the creation of the anchors, the words sent by the Tower of Erase were seen by the first demons. Seven realms. Seven races. Seven champions. But only one will prevail."

"Yeah, I know." Crimson said impatiently.

The Verdant Demon halted in his steps. Forcing Crimson to stop at front. He looked over his shoulder with annoyed expression.

"What are you doing? You're not going?"

The Verdant Demon let out a rare smile and said, "The champions chosen by the Tower of Erase in each race are immortal, invincible and ultimately undefeatable by others. The reason why the Demon King sent us here to erase my trace is for the champion of the fairies to not find any relation with the demons, thereby saving us from the Fairy champion's wrath."

Crimson did not say anything to refute this. His eyes losing the boredom he held in them earlier.

"You're saying what you said earlier is not a theory? You believe it's the truth?" Crimson interrogated.

Verdant nodded solemnly. "And Father believes in this too?" Crimson is not entirely convinced. Crimson may not be able to detect any change of expression or tell what's on his father's mind but he knows what his father's attitude was.

He won't listen to any plea or groundless information without proof. What Verdant said earlier is a groundless information with no way verifying if it was the truth.

Verdant understand his feelings and said.

"Your Highness, Zither was my companion in the demon army back in my younger days. We are rivals as well as friends. We raise our morals and battled countless times for your father's name."

At this, Crimson rolled his eyes. He's really not interested in old demons talking about their old flimsy glories.

"I can tell you for certain Your Highness that Zither could not be defeated by just anyone. Not even half of the current Twelve Dukes can hold a candle at his prowess. I have infiltrated the Fairy realm's royal guards and witness the extent of power the Fairy King has."

Crimson glance sideways at Verdant who shake his head in dismay.

"That man is a disgrace to the fairy realms hundred years of prestige. The Fairy Lords glorious past cannot be seen from that man's power. If you compare the father and daughter, you will surely see how the Fairy Princess fair well than her father."

Crimson let out a low groan at this long boorish talks. First it was history lessons and now gossips of the dead? Like, seriously? Are we really doing this in the human world right now?

Crimson gave Verdant a look but Verdant acted as if he doesn't notice. After walking long roads in the market and taking sharp turns, they finally arrived at the wide open grand castle of the organization.

Crimson saw the soldiers guarding inside and outside of the gate. Constantly on patrol in the grounds. Not letting a single fly get in to the perimeters.

Crimson lick his lips. "So many healthy living flesh walking around. Can I have a taste Verdant?"

Verdant sighed. "Please, Your Highness. Not now. We don't want to attract the attention of humans on us."

"But I can erase our trace!"

Verdant felt his head ache even more. "If you kill them the human I have contract with will summon me to investigate the killings. If we break the contract at the same time then they will find me suspicious and that will put us in difficult situation with the humans. As much as possible Your Highness, we don't want to be in odds with them at the moment. Many of the human aristocrat has close relationship with the divine beings in the Celestial realm."

"You mean those annoying shining bastards?"

Verdant did not answer and only nodded. Crimson click his tongue.

"I hate those self proclaimed righteous bastards. The light bulb in their head are annoying too. Do you know when are we going to wage war on them?"

Verdant stiffened. Crimson's tone is serious hence Verdant find it hard to detect if the Prince is joking or not.

"We cannot afford to do so, Your Highness. Right now, we are trying to cleanse our hands from the responsibilities of destroying the fairy realm to avoid the Fairy champion's wrath. We can't afford to have another champion put us into their top listed realm to destroy."

At this moment, Crimson fell silent. The two of them are meters away from the grand mansion of the organization. If they move forward further, the soldiers will surely notice them. Verdant dare not take chances much to Crimson's despair.

As Crimson drew blood from Verdant's wrist, he played with the small drop of liquid floating in his palms.
