Chapter 31 - Kyra

Kyra found it strange the voice stops her. When her task is in fact destructive to the harmonious lives of the seven races. After pondering on it for a few minutes, she finally understand why.

"Is there someone in here I'm forbidden to kill?"

"Yes," the voice affirmed. "At best scenario, avoid clashing with him."

"I'm afraid that's impossible."

Kyra was sure if her motives are exposed, every demon will be coming after her, seeking bloodbath.

"Under any circumstances, you cannot kill the champion of the demon realm. Fighting head on with other champions while still in the seven realms will divide the tower's protection. Hence, it is strictly forbidden to do so. Avoid involving in death fights with the champions."

"We do not need protection." Kyra firmly stated.

The voice seems to stretch its patience and said, "Protection from the tower is not given for free. It was a reward only to those it chose, in return, the champions must fulfill every task given to them or else the consequence will be severe."

Kyra paused for a few minutes before responding, "What are you? Do you come from the tower?"

"I come from the tower. But you do not need to know what I am. "

Kyra stopped caring after the voice answered. She asked what she meant to question from the start.

"How will the Tower revive the World Tree? Will the souls of my people be borne into a new life?"

The voice was silent for a few seconds before stating with an emotionless tone, "Kyra, the privilege in having an immortal body is your reward from the Tower as its chosen champion of the faery realm. Not only that, the Tower is pleased with your outstanding performance as you complete without a fail the orders of the faery king. Hence, it granted you Silver Bloom Devouring Lotus, one of the Top Ten SSS- Class Ghost Skills. The Tower expects you to fulfill the given tasks without fail. The more tasks you succeeded to perform, the higher privilege you will received. The Tower has the power and higher authority to grant your wishes if you meet its expectation."

Tasks... Nobody is as efficient as her when it comes to taking missions and fulfilling dangerous tasks. After receiving the assurance of the voice, she did not ask again. The so called Tower has proven itself the moment Kyra was revived from the dead.

It means she was given another chance to start from the very beginning. Since it go this far to show her support, Kyra has no reason to disobey. This deal works well in both sides.

Kyra did not think too much and focus on the direction of the Pillar of Asmodeus. She begins to head to the north with her obsidian sword in her right hand and the silver bloom devouring Lotus in her left.

Kyra did not stall time. She did not stop to take a look around at the small scarce populated cities of the demon realm. She is not interested in the sightseeing's of the barren world. Nor does she get the urge to eat their homemade foods which are made with human flesh and blood.

It was a long way to go. Kyra could not tell how many hours she traveled through the thin elements and toxic atmosphere. The distance seems to stretch farther the more she traveled on foot. The Pillar of Asmodeus is as thousand miles away just like before. Making Kyra doubt if there is some kind of magic working in the background, preventing her from reaching her destination.

Kyra has been on high alert ever since the demon pet attacked her. Her senses stretch into ten kilometers radius, but after raising her vigilance when she sense the presence of local demons, there was no imminent danger threatening her at the moment.

After passing twenty cities and traveling for what seems to feel like seven days, Kyra did not see any signs or traces of another living thing. The red forsaken land was as desolate as ever. The clouds as imposing and oppressive. The red dark rumbling sky hung heavily in the atmosphere. The air was thin and full of toxic elements that pierce through the lungs. There was no gust of wind and not a single tree on site.

Kyra did not take a rest even for every once in a while. Her throat was dry. Her feet are tired. But she continued to walk on. Her feelings began to grow numb and had emptied out inside. Her chest feels so hollow it suck her dry. Her mind contains no thoughts except revenge. After her tasks are fulfilled, she will hunt down those who hurt her family.

She will do whatever it takes. To bring back her family. Her people. The World Tree. Her world. She will see them alive again. And she will kill anyone who dares to stand in her way.

This has become her driving thoughts to continue moving forward. As she get nearer to the Pillar of Asmodeus, the wind suddenly blew strongly from afar. Kyra could hardly open her eyes.

She suddenly felt something was wrong and she gaze above. The heavy atmosphere was thin out and the black mist rumbled and parted to reveal the red like veins that covered the whole atmosphere, it was as if the blood from the massacre she just passed by evaporated and now forming the clouds.

Kyra stared at the ominous blood apocalyptic clouds.

Without Kyra noticing, she already arrived at bottom hill where the Pillar of Asmodeus stands. She raised her eyes. After traveling miles of empty, barren land, she finally witness the first signs of demon population. A legion of demons with two horns are standing upright in the upper hill, condoned in heavy armor and heavy weapons, their faces are hard to discern under the helmet.

Standing domineeringly at the center, is the face of a young man exuding the most sinister Kyra has felt. The young man flash her a blood curling smile. His hands are bathed with dripping red.

Now she understand where the blood apocalyptic clouds come from.

Kyra calmly assessed the other party and thought,

"Fighting head on is unavoidable. Let's see how strong is this other champion from the demon realm."
