Crimson laid the blood and let it bubble as it hover in his palm. His eyes turn blood red and his sight sharpened. He zoomed on the place where Verdant pointed to be the Leader's office.
Crimson did not take much time to find him. With a flick of his fingers, the blood of Verdant present in the Leader's body was extracted. To not rose any suspicion, Crimson controlled the Leader's hand to graze the letter opener in his desk.
This cause the Leader to frown at the sight of his sliced finger. He did not think to much about it and wrap some cloth on it. Crimson take this opportunity to let the blood of Verdant get out of the Leader's system through the wound.
As a result, the amount of blood flowing out from the Leader's sliced finger was twice the amount, soaking the cloth inside out.
The Leader got up and discarded the cloth. He went to the bathroom and wash off the excess blood. Crimson smiled in triumphed. As the last drop of blood from Verdant was extracted, the contract binding the demon and the human together was erased.
All without the Leader's knowledge.
He proceeded to work without sensing anything.
Crimson dispersed the blood of Verdant in his palm and look at the other.
"Mission completed. Can I kill them now?"
Verdant bowed deeply. "Thank you for your boundless kindness Your Highness. I will surely repay you with my undying loyalty and servitude in the future even after you become the Champion."
Crimson flip his short jet black hair and said in disdain. "I told you I won't inherit my father's throne, wait – huh?"
"With all my heart, I believe that Your Highness is the chosen Champion of the Demon realm. Whatever your choices in the future, I will follow you through the end."
Crimson stared with a piercing gaze at this old powerful Verdant Demon. He had known beforehand that this particular one is loyal to his father. He even give up his position as one of the Twelve Duke to lower his level and gain contract rights with a human. Just because the Demon King ordered him to do so.
The reason why Crimson force himself to endure his boorish talks is because this demon was once his teacher when he was still a child. Violet and Verdant were equal in Crimson's eyes. Both he respected for their undying loyalty and find annoying at the same time.
Verdant won't hesitate to engage history lessons talks with him while Violet won't stop nagging at his unscrupulous ways of wasting his talent.
Crimson humphed and said with honesty.
"I don't care about that champion thing. But if it gets in the way with my 'fun' then I won't hesitate to destroy them."
Verdant only smiled, his thoughts hidden deeper in his heart as he watch the Prince opened the portal key to the fairy realm.
Because of the poor wreckage state of the fairy realm, Crimson was dying to get out of the place at once. He only needed to purify the air, erasing demonic traces of Verdant before finding any leakage of demonic mana.
Verdant had used his mana to recreate the portal in the World Tree, that is why his demonic trace is all over different places. Verdant assumed he needed to pinpoint Crimson these location but it seems its not needed.
After a few moments, Crimson concluded his work faster than Verdant expected. Crimson click his tongue in disdain,
"We need to leave this place, something's here."
Verdant sharply looked around and unsheathe his sword.
"Where?"
Crimson shove his sword aside. "We're not its opponent."
Verdant wanted to see what the Prince is talking about. But all he see is a large expanse of dead land. He did not sense anything either. There was no reason for the Prince to lie. And it wasn't his usual attitude to retreat immediately.
Could it be….
There was really an entity here that is so great it intimidated Crimson to this extent? Verdant did not dwell too much on his thoughts and was about to follow Crimson when he notice him stopped.
"Your Highness?"
Crimson's scarlet eyes are wide in shock. His hand hovered in the air, frozen as it try to create the portal back to the demon realm. On the horizon ahead, Verdant noticed the disparity.
The Sun that was supposed to set is hovering in the middle of the sky in dead air. In the left, the sunshine and light clouds lit up the ground. But on the right side, the surrounding darkens. The right side had no sun but a ball of white appeared. Along with little dots of shining lights.
The moon and the stars!
Crimson and Verdant's mouths dropped.
What was even more shocking is the sight of a big hole forming at the center of the split sky. The light donned strong blinding bright light into a certain spot. The sight was extravagant to behold. It's like the heaven merge and opened up to the earth.
Welcoming the forthcoming of someone so great the heaven's will bend to open the path for them. Following this thought, the Verdant demon finally understand what's happening.
He immediately finished the portal created by the Prince and urged him to go.
"Why? I want to see."
"Please Your Highness. This is the creation of the tower's champion. If we stay here any longer, we will die in her hands."
"But –"
Verdant did not let him finish his protest and pushed the Prince into the portal. Verdant did not dare look back. His heart is pounding not of fear but for excitement.
He was right! He was proven right! The Tower DID choose a champion. He marched directly to the Demon King and reported directly. Crimson did not let him get into detail in his report.
Crimson pulled a real time image from the fairy realm. Everyone present in the throne room, including the Twelve Dukes stared at the image with dumbfounded expression.
