It was only a matter of time before I and Atreigon got tired from the journey. I won't lie, but the previous magic spell I had used had taken a lot on me. It usually takes an A-level rank magic-user to perform such, but I was a B rank according to the tests they had done on me as a kid.
When we walked through the magical pine tree, it led us to another forest. But this one was different. The stars shinned differently, the night breeze was warm instead of cold, and it was silent and still. There was no indication of life in the entire place.
Atreigon explained that this is uncharted land and most creatures no longer live here anymore. It was like this even during his time. It made question if magical creatures have ever been on the surface before humankind.
The whole place was supported by magic. With magic-powered stars and a moon to provide light to the area. I could feel the flow of energy in everything around us.
Atreigon cried the moment he saw a cave nearby.
"We should rest," he said then shifted back into a cat. "Being your familiar is so stressful," he meowed while stretching his tired cat body. I still wasn't used to the red cat, red bird, and black sword thing.
He then ran into the cave and immediately lit it up using his abilities.
I followed him in.
--The first that caught my eyes was that the walls of the cave weren't made of complete rock. Part of the cave was shimmering with magical rocks. I could the magic intensity within the rocks from even the bottom of my feet.
"Wow," I said inwardly while staring at the wall with eyes of amusement. They shimmered like glitter put on a wall. It was all magic,
I grabbed my phone to take a picture, but once I took one. The picture vanished.
"What?" I yelled in shock, "What is the meaning of this?"
"Meaning of what?" Atreigon asked,
"My phone can't save the photo."
Atreigon hummed in thought then said, "It may be because of the curse. It may affect human-made devices, like phones."
I sighed with disappointment. I wanted to at least show it to my sister.
TING!
I received a message.
I looked down at the screen and it was a police report on the girl I had met last time. Her name was Rebekah Andrews and she was a citizen of Mayfair, police say that she is a victim of human trafficking.
New humans have been smuggling their kind to the world outside.
I knew about this because governments of the world wanted to weaponize new humans kids, and kidnappings of new human children increased. Right now it may be down, but am sure there are new humans outside Mayfair and Pretoria so maybe we will never be safe from the rest of the world.
But Rebekah wasn't trafficked. She was taken by a hot vampire, for reasons I think I should know and I will find out when we get to Tlavacus. Right now I needed sleep.
After a few minutes, we were already knocked out into sleep since it had been a very long night.
But then I had the weirdest dream in my entire life.
I was on a beach, the sky was clear, the air was lively and I could hear the sound of the water waves beating on land. I looked around and I knew it was a dream, but why a beach?
I then heard Sandra's voice call from behind, "Ralph,"
I turned, and she was there.
She was standing still with the wind blowing through her blonde hair which was now looking golden in the sunlight. She was in a long sunflower printed see-through dress that stretched up to her ankles.
The wind even made it easier for me to see more of her skin.
I could feel my heart hammering from just getting a glimpse of her chest. She looked gorgeous with an angelic glow surrounding her.
I chuckled nervously like I couldn't believe it, "Sandra?"
"Come to me," she said in a very pleasant and calm voice that made my mind lose hold of my body.
I just felt my feet move on their own, through the sand.
The closer I was, the more attractive she became.
I didn't want to wake up.
I reached, and the first thing she did was land in my arms. She felt so warm. Her chest against mine was a dream come true. This entire dream made me imagine what we could have been if I didn't go back to school.
"Do you love me?" she asked the most random question ever,
My eyes were stunned by the question
"What?" I mumbled pretending I didn't hear that,
"Do you love?" she asked again but in a whisper, she sounded so seductive. Then started to kiss my neck slowly.
The feeling of arousal started growing and my breathing started to become heavy. I tightened my grip around her waist and let her kiss me.
"Yes," I moaned as she caressed my chest.
"Then tell me where the blood diamond is," she whispered.
I was startled after hearing that. Sandra wouldn't ask me something like that, even for the short time I knew her that wouldn't be a question she would ask.
I pulled out of her arms.
And then the atmosphere between us changed suddenly.
"You are not Sandra,"
She growled, "Come on darling, am showing you what you desire the most," she said. "You desire me. You desire Sandra Drake,"
It began to sound like they were two voices speaking at the same time.
No, I don't, I thought
"Yes you do," said a voice in my head,
The wind picked up. And the weather suddenly changed from sunny to looking like it was about to rain. Nimbus clouds grew right from above, and fierce red lightning started to flicker within the dark sky.
One flash, Sandra was gone. Like in a horror movie.
I was still whirling my head left and right to see where she had disappeared to. when I heard violent snarling coming from above.
I looked up and a shadowy figure fell right on top of me and pushed its claws right behind my neck.
I screamed from the pain before I started to feel my life being sucked from my very being. The creature was using its claws to suck my life force.
I looked up to the sky, and my body began to feel weak.
"Fight," I heard Sandra's voice.
My memories scrambled and started showing me moments I don't recall at all. I saw Sandra holding my dead body. At the same time, she was casting my curse, and when she was done the last word she said to me was,
"Fight." and she disappeared.
That word gave me strength and I was able to push the shadow off with just the strength of my mind. That's right I had telekinesis now.
"You know where the blood diamond is, darling. And you are going to tell me," the shadow hissed.
Then it made the reality we were in start to break like mirror glass. I knew about this kind of magic, but I have never seen it on this level.
This was dream reality. The kind of magic that was in prisons to keep lawbreakers at bay, but if you died in dream reality you die in real life. At this point, I was happy I didn't dodge any of Mr. Klaus' classes because this was all taught in dark arts.
I moved my hands through the air, and the water started to move at my command, I then focused my mind and made a full wave of water that I released on the creature and then it washed into the sea.
A Teleportation ring appeared in front of me, and I heard Atreigon's voice from the other side, "Ralph, wake up," he yelled
A feeling of relief grew inside me and I stepped through the ring.
I woke up.
"Oh my god! You were attacked by a dream catcher?" the cat was panicking
My head was heavy, "a dream what?"
"A dream catcher. Demons that attack through your dreams. They show you what you desire, and the more you believe the stronger it becomes. You could have died if it wasn't for my healing abilities."
Atreigon was right. If it wasn't for him this small pain I felt behind my neck could've been worse and I would be dead once again. And I don't think there is another curse to revive me.
I pulled myself up, and the morning sunlight. Streamed onto my cold face.
"The demon did something to me," I muttered.
Atreigon stared at me like he who already what I was about to say. He said, "It dug through your mind, didn't it?"
"Yes," I answered recalling how it felt like when its claws pressed into my neck.
"Then whoever wants that diamond now knows who Rebekah Andrews is," he said with a wry look on his face.
I blurted," We need to get to Tlavacus, fast."
He moved forward and turned into a phoenix. He was bigger, about the size of a horse.
"Hop on," he said.
I climbed onto his back and we both set off for the supernatural capital of Tlavacus.
