We flew through the bright blue sky and I was curious about how they were able to pull off a replica of the sky from underneath the ground. Atreigon was flapping his winds so fast, that I felt like I was traveling on a super-fast jet. There were no clouds to hide us so all Atreigon had to do was move so fast that no one could see us. Though I don't think a big red bird could just disappear in a clear blue sky.
I could still hear the demon's laugh echoing in my head, the cold evil chill that was still crawling up on me. My head was in the clouds trying to figure out what more she took. Why do they want the red diamond and who wants it? That was my biggest mystery. The diamond can give one god-like power only if it's being used by a banshee, I had read about those. Banshees were spirits that could sense death before it happens. Maybe the diamond was connected to death somehow?
I started to see grassed hills and valleys with tiny modern settlements that reminded me of the countryside where I would get to see my grandparents, I wonder how they are right because what I heard is that they didn't get magical abilities. Seeing the settlements also showed we were close to where we were heading and that we were right direction according to Atreigon.
It was clear skies and cold air for around twenty minutes before I suddenly sensed something.
The hair rose on the back of my neck. There was a blinding flash, jaw-rattling boom!, and Atreigon's left wing was hit by a lightning bolt from nowhere.
We staggered for a moment after black smoke started to come from his wing.
But we regained balance the moment his wing healed. He increased his speed by flapping his wings even faster.
We cut through the sky like a speeding bullet.
I glanced over my shoulder to see what was following us. There was nothing maybe it was something Atreigon could hear that I couldn't. So I concentrated on sharing his senses with mine and I finally could hear what he could.
At first, I couldn't Identify but it sounded like a nearby reviving of an engine. But if it was jet you could see it, I was seeing nothing.
Two futuristic air crafts then materialized behind us and immediately started shooting out lightning bolts that Atreigon was dodging by swirling left and right.
They looked like two silver-coated shinny flying discs. The kind you expect to find in a movie about aliens.
"Shit! I didn't know they would find us this fast," Atreigon cursed. While lowering down into the valley.
The air crafts followed us.
"Who are they?" I asked, more like yelling because he could barely hear me because of the wind.
"Never mind, just hold on tight. I am about to teleport us," he warned avoiding my question.
I did as told. But I was worried, "Have you ever teleported with a person?" I mumbled trying not to think about death if it doesn't work.
"No," he answered. Then made a hard turn to the left and flew straight in between two huge rocks.
The speed we were at was unbelievable. But the air crafts were still on our trail.
I felt like I wanted to throw up from all this turning and spinning.
I gripped onto his feathers. His body glowed as we shot forward into a rock.
I closed my eyes and then heard a loud rumble. Then silence.
I heard Atreigon's voice say; We're here
I opened my eyes slowly and they got wide after what I saw.
It was dark, and the sky didn't look even look like a sky at all. It resembled graphite that had been reshaped into a huge black shimmering dome holding the surface. From down it looked like the most unique city I have ever seen. With skyscrapers assembling and reassembling themselves into something else and within them I could see Satyrs and Fairies in suits answering phone calls and having conversations. The air smelled of strawberries and flowers instead of soot, which I expected because of the technology I was looking at. Am talking about floating air crafts that hovered through the air. I could feel the magic and technology that had been merged to create all this.
The streets were the only thing I could compare to my homeworld, they were made of a material that resembled tarmac but a few were using them like big green ogres, dwarfs, and goblins, most were flying with their air crafts. The whole place from above was about the size of Pretoria and half of Mayfair.
"Alum, the fey district," Atreigon mentioned. "The fey were gifted with nature and so they grew the most thanks to that."
I said nothing. I was still taking in the breathtaking view. This entire place looked like it had walked out of a comic book, like Atlantis. Everything is powered by magical energy.
Atreigon flew us to the top of a building and landed. Almost breaking the roof with the force he used.
I leaped off his back and shifted back into a cat.
He still had a wound on his arm, probably from the lightning blast.
"Food," he moaned.
I shoved my hand into my jacket pocket and pulled out a snickers chocolate bar. It's all I had since the bag had most of our food.
I unwrapped it and then put it down for the day's hero.
Atreigon jumped like the bar was its prey, and put it down his mouth without sparing any for me.
He said, "What is this flavor? This goodness is indeed the best meal of a truly great being as I--"
I wondered what he had been eating all along if this was the first time he was tasting chocolate.
"I must have more of this sorcery, master!" he demanded once he was done eating the snickers wrapper.
"Am sorry--"
We were interrupted when a white bright beam of light shot from the sky and landed right on the two of us.
"Trespassers Identified, a boy and a familiar," a male voice sounded from above. I couldn't see because the bright light was blinding both of us.
Another light joined the first one and became even harder to see. It's like they wanted us to go blind. I started casting a spell to break those lights.
"Don't cast any spell." the voice came from behind,
I turned slowly. It was a fairy boy.
He was probably my age, the same height as I, with curly blonde hair and away more athletic body than mine. He almost looked normal, but his green lifeless eyes sent a feeling of terror.
He glanced at Atreigon. And without saying he unleashed a sliver whip, that I swear I heard hissing before it slashed through the air and grabbed Atreigon.
"Atreigon," I yelled and then conjured chains to grab Atreigon.
But that was a bad idea because the spell ended up exploding and I was thrown backward.
The boy laughed softly as Atreigon arrived in his hand and was put to sleep immediately.
I peeled my face off the concrete floor. I didn't know what I was thinking when I stood up but ran directly to the boy and punched his left cheek.
-And nothing happened- he didn't move at all.
Instead, his face turned red from anger.
"You don't belong here, human. Now die,"
And he returned my punch by hitting me with a force that sent me flying off the building.
When I was falling, my vision got blurry before I finally closed my eyes.
The last thing I remember was crashing into a sidewalk, looking up to the black graphite, wondering why I am not dead yet, and the familiar faces of Ned and Nancy.
"I can't believe he's still alive. Are elves indestructible? " Nancy said,
"Silence, Nancy," I heard a deep male voice accompanied by heavy footsteps. A creature looked at me. It was blurry but he had horns and wings.
"He has lost a lot of blood. Bring him in."
