Rowan killed 5 people total, and each of them filled his experience bar by 50%, except Lord Farwuad, who gave him a whole level up instead.
'It looks like I get 5 stat points per level, and a kill increased the experience bar by half. But, Lord Farwuad gave me a whole level, was it because he was stronger or higher level?' Rowan looked through his status and allocated his points equally among strength, constitution, and intellect.
He didn't need much mana, as he could reuse his skill indefinitely, but he still wanted extra mana for emergency uses. And though his skill was extremely hard to get rid of, he still increased his constitution and strength for better control of the melting point and an increase in overall strength of the candy itself. Now, his candy wouldn't just outright melt - unless he wanted it to - to a fire ability or the elements, at least not as quickly as it would have if he had not increased his control of the melting point.

Rowan knew that there must have been some sort of information from inside the walls, maybe a library of some sort, but he would have to fight his way through. He knew his limits, once surrounded, he would have no escape. The taffy ball could only target one person at a time, and it would take a while to finish them, by then he would have been killed. If he stayed and was thought to be a part of the rebels, then he would be finished as well, there was no way he was risking it.
Walking towards the gate, he came upon the carriage again, with the corpse of the noble laying limply their. He wouldn't had known that was him had he not seen what happened, the peasants had pretty much brutalized him into pieces. Rowan saw the staff near his body, covered in dried blood, and went up to inspect the stats.
[Basic Staff 1★:
Magic Attack: 20
Durability 89/100]
Rowan kept the staff, unsure whether the staff would allow his ability to do damage, and thought about discarding the sword, however he may need to engage in close combat at some point, so he kept it in the end. It didn't feel heavy anyways, thanks to his strength stat, which affected his body as well as his abilities. That said, he didn't want to wield two weapons, so he would need something that can account for close and ranged fights. He was hoping that his next skill would do that, but he didn't know when he would get a skill.
He was at the gate now, and a couple dozen guards stood atop the outer wall and some on the ground, though not nearly as much. The gate was open, presumably more merchants or people coming in and out. Seeing their calmness, they must not have known about what happened in the center of the city, so he walked through the entrance.
All he saw were trees and a plethora of greenery, that stretched farther than his eyes could see. There were some mountains in the distance, rising high up into the sky. There was a path that lead stretched forward, and appeared to lead somewhere. Rowan just kept walking, he had no map, however he thought that this path would definitely lead him somewhere, seeing that it was maintained to an extent, hopefully leading another city or settlement.
Some distance down the road, he suddenly felt a chill down his spine, and instinctively ducked down and rolled forward. An arrow had skidded by, barely missing him. He quickly activated his skill and threw it at the assailant- no assailants, as he could see a group of small green creatures rushing at him. One archer and two goblins wielding daggers.
'Goblins?' he thought as he manipulated the ball forward.
[93/95]
The taffy ball was entirely green this time, and he threw it at the closest goblin holding a dagger. The creature didn't even know how to react, and the taffy ball engulfed it's head entirely, even a part of it's upper body as well.
Rowan conjured up another taffy ball, now the color was white with red stripes running across it, and it flew quickly towards the second goblin with the dagger.
[91/95]
Seeing the white ball with red stripes the goblin howled shrilly, and slashed at it, it had learned after seeing its comrade that was currently convulsing on the ground. Despite being split in half, the taffy continued forward, and sandwiched the goblin. It would suffer the same fate as the one on the ground that wasn't moving anymore.
Rowan could see the archer goblin, nocking the arrow in it's hand, firing at Rowan hastily. Rowan quickly ran behind a tree, and made another taffy ball.
THWACK
When he heard the sound of the arrow hitting wood, Rowan rushed towards the goblin archer, with a pink taffy ball in tow. Realizing it would have to engage in close combat, it drew a dagger out, and rushed at Rowan.
Rowan made a wide slashing motion with his sword, as if he were about to swing heavily at the creature. Seeing that, the goblin moved it's dagger to block, but what came wasn't Rowan's sword. It was a feint.
SPLAT
A couple moments later, and the creatures' shrill, muffled screams came to an end, though their bodies could be seen twitching at times.
'It's over, that must have given me a lot of experience.' Rowan opened up his interface, and looked at his experience bar, he was level 5 now.
[Exp: 25/100%] The goblins appeared to have filled his experience bar by 25% each time.
'So, I get a skill every 5 levels?' Rowan thought as the system prompted him to select a skill.
[Please select an ability.]
Rowan was very tempted to select Fudge Swamp, not just because of the rarity, but because of the synergy it would have with his Taffy Ball skill. On the other hand, Bonbon Barrage will increase his offensive strength immensely, something he desperately needed right now. He felt that he was lucky in his fight against the goblins, since they weren't very intelligent. As for Hot Chocolate, this reminded him of a certain man that wielded magma powers from an anime he used to watch in his other life, Rowan hoped he would be able to use it similarly.
'I have a very similar skill to Fudge Swamp, although single target, and I need to increase my offensive strength right now, so I will choose either Bonbon Barrage or Hot Chocolate. Fudge Swamp seems like a skill for later on, I will choose it if I roll it.' In the end Rowan opted for Hot Chocolate, as he felt that it covered his close range and long range problem. When an enemy got close, they would be in for a surprise. If they were far, he could hit them as well, plus he felt that the hot chocolate could be used defensively against ranged weapons, melting them before they even reached him.
[Are you sure about your selection?] the system prompted.
'Yes.' after confirming, Rowan put all 5 stat points he got into strength.

Rowan activated Hot Chocolate and moved it around in the air, then threw it towards a tree near him.
[90/95]
The mana cost was quite high, however it didn't appear to drain his mana continuously like he thought it would have. It looked like it made a certain amount, based off of his strength. Right now, the amount looked like it could cover a whole grown man completely, with extra chocolate to spare.
SHHH
He could the chocolate melting rapidly the tree, and a few moments later the tree came crashing down. The distance was about 8 meters. He made a chunk of taffy, it was now big enough to engulf someone from their head to their shoulders, and it flew forward, when it went past 8 meters, it fell down on the ground, he couldn't move it. He didn't notice it earlier, but his Taffy Ball skill did indeed reach that distance in his previous fights, and the size did increase noticeably.
[88/95]
BOOM
'Can I cover myself with it? Rowan's theory came from the fact that earlier, when he had taken a bite of his taffy, it didn't put any Sugar Overload stacks on him, thus not harming him. So, in this situation, the Hot Chocolate skill shouldn't harm him. He manipulated the sludge of melted chocolate back to him, and touched it lightly. Seeing that it didn't harm him in the slightest, he took it off, and there was none stuck to his skin whatsoever, not even a lingering scent.
With his current stats, he could increase the melting point to the point where a fireball or something similar, would take time to melt his confections. He manipulated his ball of taffy to have the highest melting point that he could make it, and threw it into the hot chocolate.
He could hear the sizzling, and how the chocolate was quickly melting the taffy. When he took the taffy out, it had changed from it's huge size earlier, to being around the size of a baseball. Emboldened, he covered his arm in it, and punched at another tree.
BOOM
Then he heard the sizzling noise from the melting sounds, and when he pulled back his arm, there was a big gaping hole in the tree. This ability definitely had a lot of potential, especially considering it's versatility.
