Chapter 37 - Exodia 37: Electro-Magnetism

"The more the merrier!"

Fray shouted, looking between Satilla and Tatsuya. A snarl from Satilla caused him to focus on her first.

The Dire Wolf began circling him, like a predator encircling its prey. Her eyes were never taken off of her prey, Fray.

Satilla made the first move.

She whipped her tail against the air, creating a large gush of wind, knocking Fray off-balance. The wolf jumped and ran toward Fray, using wind platforms. It dove toward the man; its jet-black claws pointed at his chest.

There was no way for Fray to counter.

"Huh?!"

Tatsuya gasped.

Satilla missed her target. She took her palms out of the floor and backed off.

"How'd she miss?"

Tatsuya asked himself.

"That's because of-"

Fray stood up. The wheel was in his hand. The arrow was stuck on the green side. Meaning...

"-good luck."

--

Anastasia and Argent exchanged blows endlessly. Neither one seemed tired and neither one was planning on giving up.

"I have learnt that... You... cannot use your Magnetism in close-quarters. Or... at least not while your hands are full!"

"I could... say... the same for your... Spiritual Magic!"

Anastasia suddenly ducked and tried to knock off Argent's centre of gravity by getting him off his feet.

The boy predicted it and jumped into the air to dodge the leg sweep. It seemed like Argent had the advantage, but Anastasia was already moving toward him.

"What the..."

She grabbed his arm and pulled him closer.

"I think you should feel a little heat."

"AHHHH!"

The boy let out a ferocious scream as his skin started to sizzle. He used his other arm to throw his spirit hand at her--Anastasia let go and backed away.

"What was that?"

He asked, covering his arm with his hand.

"Look at your arm and you'll see."

She declared.

Argent slowly moved his hand and looked at his arm. It was a bloody mess. There was a large patch of blood on his forearm. It looked as though his skin was ripped off.

"What happened? Tell me!"

The boy shouted.

"Okay, okay, I will! Relax..."

Argent waited for an answer.

"Gamma radiation."

"Gamma radiation? I thought your Singularity was Magnetism!"

"I'll make it easier for you to understand. My Singularity has awakened."

He shivered upon hearing the word, 'awakened.'

Awakening is the state in which the user's Singularity evolves. Before her awakening, Anastasia's Singularity was simply Magnetism, but after Awakening, Anastasia's Singularity became Electro-Magnetism.

Due to Anastasia's past hardships, challenges, goals and experiences, she awakened when she was 13.

A Singularity only evolves when pushed to its limit. Being forced to the limit forces open a new door and new opportunities. Though, achieving Awakening is easier said than done.

"You are bluffing. If it was gamma radiation, then you would have burned through me already. That is better in this situation. Killing me, that is."

Anastasia stayed silent.

"So, it really is not gamma radiation."

The truth was that Anastasia could not withstand the high energies of gamma rays. If she had used her gamma radiation for two seconds longer, Anastasia would have suffered from gamma radiation too.

Though, that was not her main reason. Her main reason was that she has not killed anyone. As much as it would benefit her, she would like to keep the number of kills to 1. And that count is for her elder brother.

She abruptly dodged to the left.

"Tch! How do you keep doing that?!"

Once again, she stayed silent.

Thanks to her awakened Singularity, she was able to use infrared vision, not for long, of course. When she thought Argent would attack, Anastasia would activate it and see where the spirit was being directed. Even ghosts can be seen with thermal imaging.

"Over here, little boy."

She called out, touching the wall.

Argent instantly turned around as he saw her hand touch the wall. There was a flower vase, with flowers, behind him. He prepared himself to be hit by it, but, instead, he was hit from behind.

The boy was sent flying into the flower vase.

"I did call out to you, but you ignored me."

Anastasia said, landing on the ground safely.

She used herself touching the wall as bait and gave herself an opposite attraction to the flower vase, making her kick him. She cancelled it midway.

"Let's try and finish this so that Emika can go back to her peaceful life."

--

Aihara staggered as Gilheld hit her in the face.

Despite Aihara having an advantage in a close-ranged fight, Gilheld was winning.

"Huh. You don't seem to have a single speck of fear in yourself. However, you have..."

He smiled.

"Apparent anger."

"Of course!"

She yelled.

"The motherfucker who killed my mother and sister is right in front of me! I want to kill you so fucking much!"

"There seems to be a misunderstanding."

"Where?!"

She shouted once more, impatient.

Gilheld pointed at the girl, who was fighting Ayaka.

"Your sister is over there. She isn't dead."

This did not compute with Aihara.

"So?! You still killed my mother! I'm still going to rip your guts out!"

She got onto all-fours and continuously attacked him at insane speeds. Not even Gilheld could keep up.

At this point, Aihara was simply fighting with her primal instincts. The instincts of her Singularity. She amplified her eyes, nails and the strength and durability of her arms and legs.

This battle would end up being a battle of attrition. If so, it would end up in Gilheld's loss. He needed a way of catching her off guard.

From the corner of his eye, he spotted Shoya fighting the people in black.

A sly smirk peeked up on his face.

"Aihara, your brother, he's good, isn't he?"

She didn't stop her assault it became faster.

"I think I'll have to kill him. Just like how I killed your mother."

Abruptly, Gilheld sensed it. What he needed to get out of her flurry of attacks.

It wasn't fear.

But...

"You just imagined your brother dying a brutal death, didn't you? I thank you for that, Aihara. You just got me a way out."

He announced, still blocking her scratches.
